Cambridge Continues Abuses of Power

The City of Cambridge recently ended a three years appeal process of a $4 million damage award. The city enjoys paying $10 million in damages due to the opinion of the City Solicitor who encouraged the City Manager to pursue the appeal. Is this an opinion on which to base public policy? Under what constitutional provision does this become a public safety issue? Why is there no concern for the abuses of elected officials and police officials who thwart constitutional protections while ignoring their oaths of office? This is abuse of power by the City Council. Nothing new here. In Cambridge laws are optional and are to be used for political purposes rewarding contributors.

Councilor Decker said "I had this vetted by outside counsel as well as the city solicitor who read it very carefully before making the recommendations to the licensing commission,” she said. “The solicitor said it would hold up legally. Between his legal opinion and the outside opinion, I’m confident it will hold up.”
