Drug Industry Promotes Dangerous New Drug In New York Times

Promoting drug treatment, this psychiatrist, who promotes drug treatment, makes remarkable arguments for taking drugs to erase memories. Most importantly he does not address potential abuses of these drugs which can be used by say, defense lawyers and criminals to render witnesses ineffective. What stops that? But also the human body and mind are extremely complex. Psychiatrists are one group of omniscient beings, the smartest man in the room, who thinks they know all there is to know about the body and the mind. Their omniscience causes extreme behavior by people who take drugs which make them violent, when they were not previously. If violence occurs conveniently when the person stops taking drugs, what is the argument for starting? Humans can recognize patterns. After noticing the pattern it is necessary for people to act to prevent the same harmful pattern in their lives. These drugs would eliminate the recognition and the impulse to act. This psychiatrist promotes drug treatment, the mission of the pharmaceutical industry, their obedient compensated prognosticators, the psychiatric industry and the lobbyist for the drug companies, NAMI. They promote drug usage with fantastic claims and seldom notice any side effects.

[From article]
The current standard of treatment for such phobias revolves around exposure therapy. This involves repeatedly presenting the feared object or frightening memory in a safe setting, so that the patient acquires a new safe memory that resides in his brain alongside the bad memory. As long as the new memory has the upper hand, his fear is suppressed. But if he is re-traumatized or re-exposed with sufficient intensity to the original experience, his old fear will awaken with a vengeance.
[. . .]
New research suggests that it may be possible not just to change certain types of emotional memories, but even to erase them. We’ve learned that memories are uniquely vulnerable to alteration at two points: when we first lay them down, and later, when we retrieve them.
[. . .]

These studies suggest that someday, a single dose of a drug, combined with exposure to your fear at the right moment, could free you of that fear forever. But there’s a flip side to this story about how to undo emotional learning: how to strengthen it.
[. . .]
It is also why we should think twice about casually prescribing stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall for young people who really don’t need them. Stimulants also cause the release of norepinephrine and may enhance fear learning. So it is possible that taking stimulants could increase one’s risk of developing PTSD when exposed to trauma.
[. . .]
The study examined the use of prescription stimulants, like Ritalin and Adderall, and the rates of PTSD in nearly 26,000 military service members between 2001 and 2008, and found that the incidence of PTSD increased along with the prescriptions.
[. . .]
The clear implication of these studies is that emotional memory is not permanent after all.
[. . .]
you still remember your biography, but your fear would be stripped of its force. The subjects knew perfectly well after the study that they previously feared spiders and that they now — strangely — felt little to no anxiety around them.
[. . .]
Some may view any attempt to tamper with human memory as disturbing because it seems at odds with what we ought to do as a culture with the darker aspects of our history: Never alter the facts, even if we have divergent interpretations of them. And it is critical not to destroy places where crimes of humanity and collective trauma took place, like the concentration camps, so we never forget what we have done and remain capable of doing. Fair enough. But I see no reason not to help frightened individuals soften their painful emotional memories.
[. . .]

It turns out that panic disorder is associated with an increased sensitivity to carbon dioxide in the brain.
[. . .]
Curiously, that might help explain why some people have panic attacks that wake them at night.
Evolutionary design has left us a few million years out of date; we are hard-wired for a Paleolithic world, but have to live in a modern one. The irrational fear of anxiety disorders was once probably useful and lifesaving. No longer.

Correction: January 22, 2016
An earlier version of this article incorrectly described some of the details of a study. Arachnophobes who were given a drug and exposed to a tarantula were able to touch the spider four days later, not hold them in a jar on Day 1.

Powerful People Are As Easily Corrupted As Weak Men and Women

Another element described by Roger Morris in his book, Partners in Power, is the preferred candidate. He says leaders, e.g., governors, police chiefs, CEOs whatever, are preferred to be weak, with relaxed rectitude. They are easier to manipulate. Especially if they are unaware of their human tendencies to abuse power. Do both paradigms apply to the current White House?

[From article]
Plato considered that the measure of a man is what he does with power; Charles Caleb Colton noted that “power will intoxicate the best hearts, as wine the strongest heads.”
An in a letter to Mandell Creighton (5 April 1887), John Acton famously wrote:
“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely./…/There’s no worse heresy than that the office sanctifies the holder of it.”
[. . .]
If modern scientists often compare the sensation of omnipotence to effects caused by drugs, it’s because power, amphetamines and cocaine do have similar effect on human brain: they increase the levels of dopamine…and are equally addictive.
Dopamine leads to euphoria through higher levels of energy, self-confidence and alertness, but its build-up is linked to anxiety, psychosis and pervasive distrust and suspiciousness.
[. . .]

Delusions of grandeur turn relationships into transactions, and fellow human beings become viewed as a faceless crowd of disposable pawns.
Power junkies will inhale ovations, sniff flattery and shoot themselves up with compliments in order to maintain the illusion of the timelessness and limitlessness of their reign.
[. . .]
Serving the interests of their own citizens has become so unthinkable and out of the question that importing voters seems somehow a simpler solution.
[. . .]
While affected by pre-election fever, demagogues reaching for power act like busy bees. But once authority cravings satiated, they transform into lazy drones basking in the same treacherous sun of hubris which cost Icarus his wings.
[. . .]

The mainstream media lullaby aimed to sedate the commoners lulls also politicians into “eternal power” state of mind. Journalistic stenographers have no problem writing about “Oppositional Defiance Disorder,” apparently detected in unruly citizens or “dysfunctional” homeless Veterans who lost their limbs for our freedom. Quite ironically, journalists turned compliance professionals, and advisers turned sycophants follow politicians’ own rule: taking care of own business only; they will never risk their 30 pieces of silver
[. . .]
As envisioned by Thomas Paine: “The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

Trump Is Like The Blob, Attacks Make Him Stronger, Establishment Pols Fear Him

[From article]
Perhaps it’s not surprising that Time magazine named Angela Merkel its “Person of the Year.” With her flooding of Europe with Muslim migrants, the German chancellor may, after all, go down in history as a primary destroyer of Western civilization. Yet there’s no question in my mind who is Man of the Year: Donald Trump.
[. . .]
There are the obvious factors here: how Trump has tapped into anger against the Establishment and over immigration, and how he’s a plain-spoken breath of fresh air. Then there’s the astute observation made by the Weekly Standard’s Julius Krein in September:
“What differentiates Trump is not what he says, or how he says it, but why he says it. …He does not apologize for having interests as an American, and he does not apologize for demanding that the American government vigorously prosecute those interests.”
[. . .]

the Trump phenomenon reveals a great truth about the great lie of our time:
What’s popular isn’t political correctness.
[. . .]
They lost sight of what Reagan called the difference “between critics and box office.” And why? Because the academia/media/entertainment (AME) Axis -- the Cultural Establishment -- has us living in a Matrix-like faux reality in which elite swill masquerades as popular will. Agree with the idea or not, for example, relatively few Americans are actually “offended” by the proposal to halt Muslim immigration.
[. . .]
a recent analysis indicated that Trump was under-polling because certain people, particularly the college-educated, were afraid to support him publicly due to social pressure -- which, mind you, will be absent in the voting booth.)
[. . .]

Truth-Teller Trump

Why is Trump immune? First, he’s mega-rich. And the main impact this has is not, as many think, that he can’t be bought (many billionaires, such as George Soros, seem like the sort who would sell their own mother for another billion).
It’s that he can’t be bullied.
Most of the mega-rich are somewhat PC themselves or aren’t interested in politics, and most of the rest couldn’t effectively wage a propaganda war against the Establishment. But Trump has transcended his profession and even his wealth; he has long been a member of the glitterati, a celebrity in a celebrity culture, a natural-born character, the man who can colorize a drab news day.
[. . .]
Not only doesn’t he apologize, but he gets in the thought police’s face, doubles down and may demand an apology from them.
And his supporters go wild.
Trump is like The Blob: the more trash the thought police throw at him, the bigger he gets.

If IRS Can Scare 200 Million Taxpayers, US Government Can Rid The Country of 12 Million Illegal Aliens

[From article]
Every year the 89,000 employees of the Internal Revenue Service attempt to enforce the tax laws for well over 200 million taxpayers. Obviously this is impossible and taxpayers could ignore the law with near impunity. Yet, they don’t. Somehow the IRS persuades the vast majority of the taxpayers to pay up.
If the IRS said that it would be inhumane to prosecute tax scofflaws because they have children that need to eat and that most tax scofflaws are good people who have run into hard times, what would happen? What would happen is that the population of tax scofflaws would explode. The tax scofflaws would become shrouded in moral legitimacy. Any attempt by the IRS to step up enforcement would be seen as brutal oppression against good people.
[. . .]

The IRS has tyrannical powers that are probably constitutional only because judges depend on the U.S. Treasury to pay their salaries.
[. . .]
If the IRS feels free to intimidate 200 million taxpayers by outrageous methods why should we be reluctant to use some of the same methods on the illegals?
[. . .]
The government does not have to prosecute everyone; just make public examples of a small number of cases. Many measures can be framed as taxes, for example, a $100 a day tax for each day a visitor overstays his visa. Taxes are easier to enforce than criminal sanctions.
[. . .]
The sanctuary city movement can be defanged by directing substantial revenue to cities that enforce immigration laws. For example, fines paid by illegals that are caught by local authorities can be paid to cities that do not welcome illegals.
The story that it is somehow difficult to deport 12 million people is a self-serving myth propagated by the political alliance that wants the illegals here.
[. . .]
There are also the employees of many non-profit operations devoted to aiding illegal immigrants. The losers are American workers, those at the bottom of the economic heap that are displaced and impoverished by 12 million competitors for their jobs. The losers are not nearly as well organized, as are the promoters of illegal immigration.

Fear Of Global Warming Is Used By Democrats Who Say Republicans Use Terrorism to Scare Americans

While journalists and liberal politicians condemn stirring up fear about Muslim terrorists, they do the very same fear mongering they condemn by scaring people about global warming which is based on unreliable computer models. How humorous is that?

[From article]
The “fear” hyperbole being disseminated by our media today discounts the attitude, innovation, practicality, and determination of the American people. It encourages terrorists and their leaders. If Americans are that fearful, then terrorism is succeeding, for that is the terrorists’ first goal: to terrorize us, to weaken us, to make us afraid and incapable of defending ourselves.
[. . .]
[Americans] have concluded that the top administration of their federal government has failed in its primary Constitutional duty to protect them and their families, in this case from Islamic Jihadist terrorists. This is the result of the administration’s refusal to create and implement a strategy which would protect the American public, and its intentional obstructionism that has blocked others, many of whom are dedicated federal government servants, from doing so.
[. . .]
government intelligence analyst Philip Haney reported that a program he had been working on, which probably could have gotten us early information about the San Bernardino terrorist cell and prevented this massacre, was shut down three years ago at the behest of our State Department. Why? Because, Haney states, the program was profiling Islamists, and that was forbidden.

Updated: Col. Ralph Peters calls Obama "a total Pussy." Suspended By Fox News

[From article]
Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and Stacey Dash have been suspended from Fox News, citing unacceptable language when discussing Obama’s speech on Sunday night.
[. . .]
Ralph Peters, a Fox News "strategic analyst," called the president a "total pu---" who "doesn't want to hurt our enemies."
A couple of hours later Stacey Dash, a Fox contributor, said the president "didn't give a sh--" about Sunday night's terrorism speech.
"Earlier today, Fox contributors Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and Stacey Dash made comments on different programs that were completely inappropriate and unacceptable for our air," Fox senior executive vice president Bill Shine said.
[. . .]
Americans are growing weary from the president’s lies and deception. Peters and Dash expressed this mounting frustration.

Fox News suspends Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and Stacey Dash
By Carol Brown

[From article]
Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters called President Obama “a total pussy” during a live interview Monday for what he views as his impotent response to the threat of Islamic extremist terrorism.
Peters, a Fox News military analyst, appeared on Stuart Varney’s Fox Business program to respond to Obama’s Sunday night Oval Office address on the threat of terrorism, speech that was widely panned. Peters, a fierce critic of Obama’s national security policies, was visibly angry as he blasted the speech.
Peters said he was taken aback by Obama’s continued references to Americans not giving into their fears.
“Mr. President, we’re not afraid! We’re angry! We’re pissed off! We’re furious!” Peters said. “We want you to react. We want you to do something. You’re afraid! I mean, this guy is such a total pussy, it’s stunning! We, the American people, who he does not know in any intimate sort of manner, we want action. We want action against Islamic State.”
Peters went on to say that Obama had done more damage to American police departments than to the Islamic State and had restrained the U.S. military.
“This is a president who doesn’t want to hurt our enemies,” Peters said. “This is a president who cares more about thugs in Guantanamo or thugs in Ferguson, Missouri, than he does about law-abiding American citizens and their right to live in safety and peace.”

Cambridge, MA Residents Fear Property Tax Increase

Migrants (some claim refugee status) will continue to arrive in this sanctuary city, demanding better jobs, free food, free housing, free health care, free tuition, and free legal services. Those born with white privilege must show moral and spiritual good will, and give to the undeserving who want what they have. If you don't give it willingly they will take it from you, when they are the majority. Do you expect wealthy corporate not for profit charity volunteers at Harvard University to pay for the migrants?

Why Do People Fear Being Called Muslim?

[From article]
There was a Seinfeld episode where Jerry repeatedly denied being gay but was quick to add, "Not that there's anything wrong with that." This sitcom episode is being repeated, with Obama replacing Jerry and Islam replacing homosexuality.
Obama says he's not a Muslim. Fine. But if there's nothing wrong with being Muslim, what's the problem with people who erroneously say he is?
[. . .]
The real secret is not that Obama fears being called a Muslim. It's not about that at all.
It's really about Obama fearing being called overly sympathetic to Muslims. That's why so many people think he's Muslim: because his words and actions support Muslims, especially the radical kind.
[list included of White House actions that indicate support for Muslims over Americans and Christians, and Jews]
It's actually irrelevant, and unprovable, whether Obama is Muslim or not. But what is relevant, and what is obvious, is that he is more sympathetic to radical Islam than he is to the national security interests of the United States. That's what Obama is afraid of when people call him a Muslim.
Unfortunately, most candidates are afraid to talk about this, as they are afraid to talk about many things. But Donald Trump came out today and said outright that Obama is waging a war against Christianity. If you think about the Christians who are fined or jailed for their beliefs on gay marriage, and businesses who are fined for not paying for their employees' abortions, you will realize that Trump is right.

Fear Of Invasion of Migrants Is Not Irrational. There Are Consequences

[From article]
It was the great historian Arnold Toynbee who said “Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.” That puts it very well, and takes the blame off the Islamists or the Mexicans, and puts it squarely on ourselves. If this country, this civilization is going to perish, then it will be because we sacrificed our values, and laughed at our principles — not because a few thousand terrorists or a few million Mexicans crossed our borders.
Which brings us ... to fear.
Isn’t “fear” just another name for “understanding consequences”? When you see a child playing with matches, are you afraid because you are a right-wing extremist, or because you understand the potential consequences to your house, your neighborhood or your national forest if the child is not stopped?
[. . .]
Is fear OK for liberals, but not the rest of us?
[. . .]
Is there a double standard for fear?
[. . .]
And perhaps most importantly, will the “extreme left” ever take responsibility for its strategy of “deny, defy, decry” as it tries to shut up those of us clamoring to save Western civilization? Will it accept the blame for the fall of Europe to Muslim domination 50 years from now because they pooh-poohed the warnings of people like me as “peddling fear”?
[. . .]
What do you think will happen to Florence when it falls under sharia law? What will happen to the David of Michelangelo? What will happen to Botticelli’s “Adoration of the Magi”? What will happen to “Il Duomo” — the domed cathedral at the heart of the great city of the Renaissance? Will they be destroyed piecemeal? Or will the entire city have to be pulverized with an atomic blast? One idol after another, one Christian sculpture, one painting, one church after another? How else could it be cleaned up so that no Muslims are offended? Blow it all up.
Of course, Italy only has about a 1 percent population of Muslims now, but that will change [it’s now 2.6 percent]. France already has a population of 10 percent. Many other countries in Europe have between 3 and 6 percent. It doesn’t sound too threatening, but the fact of the matter is that in a generation or two, unless something is done to prevent the suicide of the West, these numbers will shift dramatically, and then it may be too late to save the Louvre or the Uffizi Gallery or the Prado.
If you do not think so, then you should read the words of the great Italian author Oriana Fallaci in her book “The Rage and the Pride,” written as a jeremiad to warn the world after September 11. Look it up for yourself online at http://italian.about.com/library/fallaci/blfallaci01.htm and if you read it with a clear mind you will understand that this is not the time to wonder how we can get along better with our Muslim friends. This is the time to worry about how we can survive our Muslim enemies.
Am I afraid? Of course I am afraid. The question is “Why are you not?”

Meditating Buddhist Removed From Plane In Portugal, Suspected Of Being Terrorist

[From article]
"Police told me that I had been denounced as a terrorism suspect aboard the plane because I was reciting the Koran aloud, that I was reading a text involving words 'death' and 'bomb'," the man, Heitor Lourenco, said in remarks aired by SIC television on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday.
Lourenco, 47, said his text, which he was reading on a tablet device, contained Tibetan characters and the device had the timer on to tell him how long he had meditated, which probably caused associations with a bomb.
He was released after six hours of questioning during which police watched videos of him on the Internet showing that he is a theater and television actor, and checked his profile on Wikipedia, which states that he is a Buddhist.

White House Revealed Its Fear and Discomfort Using Military Force

[From article]
But the Obama administration’s reaction to the Israeli prime minister’s appearance suggests Netanyahu’s is more than just another speech. An administration that disdains the use of disproportionate force has been, to say the least, disproportionately forceful in its efforts to undermine Netanyahu’s message and discredit the messenger. What is Obama so worried about? What is he, if we may put it indelicately, so scared of?
We can get a clue from the almost equally disproportionate reaction of Obama’s surrogates to Rudy Giuliani’s suggestion that Barack Obama doesn’t love his country. Why, really, should anyone care about Giuliani’s comment? We have no crime of lèse majesté in this country. But Obama defenders did care. Did they suspect Giuliani had struck a nerve?
[. . .]
Obama is very much in the mainstream of modern progressive thought in his embrace of cosmopolitanism and his distrust of nationalism. He’s not interested in riding a high horse equipped, as he would see it, with patriotic blinders or nationalist spurs.
Netanyahu, by contrast, is a patriot and a nationalist. He’s an Israeli patriot and nationalist. But he also appreciates the historic role and accomplishments of the great nation-states of the West. History—the history of the Jewish people, but not only the Jewish people—is always on his mind. He is inspired by the example of Ze’ev Jabotinsky—and also of Winston Churchill. He appreciates the legacy of David Ben-Gurion—and also of Harry Truman.
[. . .]
But Netanyahu won’t be speaking only to the Obama administration, which has, after all, made clear its lack of interest in listening to Netanyahu and whose allies won’t be there to listen. He’ll be speaking to the American people.
So he can echo Churchill in appealing to them and warning that, in the struggle in which we’re engaged, “many disappointments and unpleasant surprises await us.”
[. . .]
It will be a moment that could cause us to reflect on what kind of people we are, and, with new leadership, what kind of deeds we might once again be capable of.
As it will be a moment of vindication for Zionism, the cause to which he and his family have dedicated their lives. In past episodes of Jews’ being consigned by the world to their fate, they were powerless to fight. And so the world (and not a few Jews) became accustomed to Jews’ playing the role of victim. On March 3, something remarkable and historic will happen. The prime minister of Israel, speaking on behalf of not only his country and millions of Jews, but on behalf of the West itself, will command the world’s attention as he declares his refusal to appease the enemies of Israel and the West.

Timorous New York City Supporters of Sharia Law, Cancel Anti Censorship Event

[From article]
I am sure the “guardians” of the right like Bill O’Reilly, Laura Ingraham and Greta Van Susteren will applaud this capitulation and adherence to the brutal sharia, but freedom-loving people are fed up. Who designated these spineless, gutless wonders as the gatekeepers of our freedoms? We are not Muslims. We do not adhere to the sharia. This is elemental.
Like dominoes, one after another lies down and submits to the most brutal and extreme ideology on the face of the earth. We are living under boot of the left and we must push back. Hard. Once freedom of speech is no longer free, it’s over.
Larry Flynt is a free speech hero to the left. Lenny Bruce, too.[. . .]
According to The New York Times, the “Playwrights for a Cause” event was set to feature four new short plays about censorship of the arts on June 14 at the Sheen Center for Thought and Culture in Greenwich Village.
While the event was intended to combat censorship, William Spencer Reilly, the executive director of the non-sectarian venue, essentially censored it over an act regarding Mohammed, which is sexual in nature.
The title in question: Mohammed Gets a Boner.[. . .]
“When an artistic project maligns any faith group, that project clearly falls outside of our mission to highlight the good, the true, and the beautiful as they have been expressed throughout the ages,” Reilly told the Times.
Reilly reportedly green-lit the event in February, but told the paper he had only become aware of the title of the play earlier this week, after a staff member noticed it online.
He then read the script and decided to cancel the event altogether for what he called a “clear offense to Muslims.”

Fearful of Muslim Violence, Florida Republicans Cancel Dinner With Geert Wilders

This report is written by a liberal who does not support the First Amendment and calls Mr. Wilders by his first name. It appears that the journalist is unfamiliar with recent history of Muslim terrorists and Geert de Wilders. His support of free speech makes him popular with people who understand the importance of not being intimidated by Islamic terrorists as the sponsors of this dinner were.

[From article]
As New Times reported on Thursday, Geert [de Wilders], a Dutch politician and known Islamic critic, was a key participant in the contest. Geert [de Wilders] has been outspoken against the Qur'an, liking it to Mein Kampf and trying to have it banned in the Netherlands. His stance and beliefs have made him popular with the far-right, particularly in the United States. It's also made him a target of Islamic extremists.
[. . .]
“At the time the reservation for the dinner was made, no one in management or in the catering department at Boca West knew the identity of the keynote speaker,” he said per the Palm Beach Post. “Due to potential safety concerns associated with Mr. [de] Wilders’ appearance, we have elected to cancel the reservation for this private event.”
The Palm Beach Republican Party has yet to make a statement or announce if the event will be rescheduled at another venue.

Ordinary Civilians Unprepared, and Unaware of How They Will React to Terrorists

[From article]
‘I had gone to pick up my daughter at day care, arriving in front of the magazine building, where two masked and armed men brutally threatened us,’ said Ms Rey, who draws under the name ‘Coco’.
They said they wanted to go up to the offices, so I tapped in the code,’ said Ms Rey, referring to the digi-code security system on the inter-phone.
Miss Rey and her daughter hid under a desk, from where they saw two other cartoonists being executed.
Years ago there was a story about an Israeli security guard who grappled a suicide bomber outside a supermarket where they both blew up. It is doubtful the guard did it for his salary; nobody dies for a pittance. It is doubtful that he even knew what he was going to do until he did it. It was just one of those things you find out about yourself in a moment.
[. . .]
According to Dean, we should stop attributing the “Muslim” label to them because they fall in line with a cult that is able to overcome France’s strict gun laws to carry out such an attack.
“You know, this is a chronic problem,” Dean said. “I stopped calling these people Muslim terrorists. They’re about as Muslim as I am. I mean, they have no respect for whatever anybody else’s life. That’s not what the Koran says. You know, Europe has an enormous radical problem. I think ISIS is a cult, not an Islamist cult. I think it’s a cult. I think you got to deal with these people.”
“You know, the interesting thing here is we talked about guns the last time regarding the United States, regarding how guns get in the hands of the kind of people that kill the two police officers here two weeks ago — France has tremendous gun control laws, yet, these people are able to get Kalashnikovs,” he continued. “So, this is really complicated stuff. I think you have to treat these people basically as mass murders. But I do not think we should accord them any particular religious respects because I think whatever they are claiming, motivation clearly is a twisted cultage mind.”
[. . .]
Speaking of cults, Dean sounds like a guy trying desperately hard not to lose his religion. Leftist orthodoxy now accepts the innocence of Islamism as an article of faith, on par with say, the enlightenment of the Buddha. It has to be true or else their little world falls apart. The belief in the existence of faceless second amendment cults has now become an existential value for the Left.
[. . .]
It has now become a case of destroying our civilization in order to save it. We have to stay crazy to avoid the growing suspicion that we’re nuts. The cultural elites of the West are going to hang themselves in the morning according to a schedule that they themselves have devised.
Do you think our elites won’t punch the door buttons to let the killers in to shoot us? They already have. They already have.

Teachers Fear Teaching About Christmas and Jesus

Mr Bolton said the Band Aid single, Do They Know It’s Christmas? would be better renamed for school children as ‘Do They Know What Christmas Is?’

[From article]
Fear of ‘offending’ different faiths means pupils are not being taught the true meaning of Christmas in schools, according to a BBC presenter.
Roger Bolton, of Radio 4’s Feedback programme, said that some secular teachers are also ‘unsympathetic to religious education’.
As a result, many pupils are not learning the crucial fact that Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus.
A lack of understanding of Christianity is also preventing youngsters from gaining a proper understanding of religious imagery in literature and drama as well as European art.
This ‘ignorance’ in schools is being compounded by broadcasters’ reluctance to tackle ‘faith issues’ in children’s programmes.

Tina Fey Began Questioning Bill Cosby on SNL

Tina Fey, left; Bill Cosby, right.

[From article]
So, for anyone out there who was wondering precisely why it’s taken so long for industry insiders to comment on Cosby’s misdeeds, it’s because they were afraid. The women who were assaulted were afraid for the public smearing that many of them are receiving now. Comedians like Thompson, who owed their professional livelihood to Cosby, were afraid of losing work. Everyone was afraid to speak out except for one person: Tina Fey.

Fear of Medical Professionals Inhibits Isolating Ebola

[From article]
When Australia offered more than $2 million last month to the medical charity leading the fight against Ebola in West Africa, Medecins Sans Frontieres bluntly rejected it.
What was urgently needed from rich Western countries, MSF said, was not more money but doctors and nurses.
[. . .]
Despite warnings that hundreds of thousands may die, foreign governments and organizations are still hesitating to dispatch highly trained civilian and military personnel to fight the worst ever outbreak of the deadly virus.
Even in the highly controlled environments in the West, two U.S. nurses and one Spaniard have contracted the disease, putting its dangers in sharp focus for Western governments and news media.
[. . .]
treating Ebola is dangerous. At least 443 health workers are known to have contracted Ebola, of whom 244 have died.
[. . .]
U.S. charity Samaritans Purse withdrew non-essential staff treating patients in July after two of its members caught Ebola. It has since returned but is not providing frontline care.
[. . .]
The United States has pledged more cash and manpower than any other nation - up to $1 billion and as many as 4,000 troops. But U.S. personnel will build treatment units and train local staff, not provide care. Britain is adopting a similar strategy.
[. . .]
Cuba, however, has bucked the trend, with Havana training up 461 doctors and nurses so they can help fight Ebola. So far, 256 have been dispatched to West Africa.
[. . .]
East African Nations have promised over 600 health workers and Nigeria, which has successfully contained its Ebola cases this year, has pledged 500 medics.

UK Muslims Sexually Abused More Than 1,000 Young Christian Women While Police Stood By

[From article]
Britain has felt real shock and horror over the report that 1,400 young women in the South Yorkshire town of Rotherham had been groomed, raped, prostituted, trafficked, and brutally abused in almost every possible way by a criminal gang for the last 16 years. In addition, the authorities — which in this case are the local government authority, the police, and the child-protection services — had been repeatedly informed of these crimes but had dismissed the reports as false or exaggerated and taken no action to investigate, halt, and punish them.
Some of the examples of this depraved official indifference are barely believable. In one case, a girl was found drunk in the company of her exploiters and was arrested while the men were let free. In another, a father found his daughter, tried to rescue her, complained to the police, and was himself arrested while the authorities took no action on his complaint.
[. . .]
The 1,400 girls were all white and of Christian background and English ethnicity while all but one of their exploiters were Muslims of Pakistani heritage.
[. . .]
Some of the girls were as young as eleven. And since other (more or less identical) cases of criminal exploitation of young Christian girls by Pakistani Muslim men have been uncovered in cities such as Oldham, Birmingham, and Oxford in the last decade, the total number of victims must be staggering.
[. . ]
Again and again the police and the social workers shrank from intervening or responding to complaints because to do so would invite the accusation that they were “racist.”

The Sky Is Falling, Again

[From article]
The real choice today is between bigger or smaller unintelligent government.
[. . .]
Because crises are government’s excuse for growing, liberalism’s motto is: Never let a crisis go unfabricated. But its promiscuous production of crises has made them boring.
