Few Americans Have Critical Thinking Skills

Critical thinking is good but insufficient to open minds of misled followers of propagandists, the useful idiots. For a few years at public lectures at Harvard University's prestigious J.F. Kennedy School of Government, I asked public questions of the speakers. When they were able, instead of addressing the issue I raised, they made personal attacks, e.g., journalists R.W. Apple, and Bob Woodward. The prominent celebrity journalists were counter productive, supporting propaganda. The questions remained unanswered by the "authority figures." Same thing happens in classrooms. There are some thinkers at Harvard. Some grad students told me they discussed my questions in class. Soon the campus cops appeared to stop my attendance, typical arrogance of Harvard and its vigorous support for liberal propaganda. I learned to ask questions studying philosophy at Columbia. Never regret it. In conformist Cambridge, MA, incubator of limousine liberals, they simply shun me.
[From article]
The biggest problem that America is facing today is the inability of the vast majority of the citizenry to think critically.
[. . .]
If we are to ever bring America back to the point where she is great again, the majority of the citizens are going to have to acquire and hone critical thinking skills.
Why is it imperative for the citizenry to be able to think critically? Because the mainstream media has abandoned its responsibility of reporting facts in exchange for distracting, distorting, propagandizing and protecting. The public education system also ran by liberals, has dumbed down the quality of education in exchange for explicit (non-age appropriate) sex education and revised negative American history.
[. . .]
Not a day goes by without my reading about some illogical narrative being presented as journalism when it is really propaganda used to appeal to the emotions of its audience.
[. . .]
Liberals become enraged when faced with the truth.
[. . .]
Dr. Linda Elder and the late Dr. Richard Paul, founders of The Critical Thinking Community, said the following about one’s quality of thinking:
[. . .]
To be successful in life, one needs to ask essential questions: essential questions when reading, writing, and speaking; when shopping, working, and parenting; when forming friendships, choosing life-partners, and interacting with the mass media and the Internet.
[. . .]
We cannot continue to allow the media and slick talking politicians to guide our thinking. Because thinking is hard work, most people would rather someone else do the thinking for them. That is how we got where we are today. For those who want to improve his or her thinking, I suggest your purchase a copy of The Art of Asking Essential Questions, a $6.00 miniature guide.

Journalists Waste Voters' and Candidates' Time Asking Inane Questions

[From article]
Trump’s presumed faux pas was his failure to correct a questioner who asserted that Barack Obama was a Muslim. Taylor’s real error as a reporter, like that of all her mainstream colleagues, was to dismiss the questioner’s assertion as a “fallacy” without providing any evidence to the contrary.
[. . .]
Obama’s word, whether on his birth or his faith, is good enough for the center-left media. Although they have chosen to know as little as possible about Obama’s Muslim legacy, the legacy is real. “Barry was a Muslim,” his third grade teacher told the Los Angeles Times in 2007,” and he did, in fact, register in school in Indonesia as one.
[. . .]
In September 2008, in a conversation with George Stephanopoulos set up to quell such rumors, Obama slipped up and referred to “my Muslim faith” before Stephanopoulos quickly intervened to correct him. Slip up or no, Obama found it "deeply offensive" that the Republican camp was suggesting “that perhaps I'm not who I say I am when it comes to my faith."
[. . .]
To those paying attention, Obama’s conversion seemed as calculated as his choice of wife. Early biographer David Mendell noted that in 2004 “Obama, without fail, would mention his church and his Christian faith when he was campaigning in black churches and more socially conservative downstate Illinois communities.”
Yet, when Mendell tried to talk to Obama about his faith and his “ever present bible,” Obama proved “uncharacteristically short” in his responses.
[. . .]
For Obama, lying about his faith was apparently no big deal. As he told Axelrod after stumbling through a question on same-sex marriage, “I’m just not very good at bulls––ing.”
One has to ask, if Obama was willing to bulls–- about his relationship with God, what was he not willing to bulls–- about? Why should anyone, for instance, believe his “for me as a Christian” line?

Attractive Young Woman Asks Random Men If They Would Have Sex With Her

It was a strange ask so it unsurprisingly garnered some odd answers including this man, who said yes, but requested that he had an energy drink - Gatorade - first.

[From article]
For many men, it might be the stuff of daydreams...an attractive woman approaches in the street and asks if they would like to sleep with her.
No complicated chat-up lines required, no strings attached.
One woman, who introduces herself as 'Andrea', did just that in a video posted on YouTube last week.
The unique 'social experiment' entitled 'Asking 100 guys for sex' was filmed for online video channel Whatever and has since gone viral, attracting nearly 4.2 million views.
[. . .]
The 19-minute-long edited video, which was filmed over seven days, shows the woman approaching a stream of men as they go about their daily business.
Dressed casually either in jeans or a pair of short denim shorts with a skimpy top, she outstretches a hand and introduces herself to the men.
After one or two comments are exchanged, she asks them: 'Would you like to have sex with me?'

'Do you want to have sex with me?' Attractive young woman approaches 100 men on the street and asks them to sleep with her... but just how many said yes?
Woman known as 'Andrea' recorded the reactions of 100 men after she approached them in the street and asked them to have sex with her
Out of 100 men asked, 30 said yes. An experiment in reverse found that not a single woman said yes to sleeping with a man in the same scenario
Some of the footage is said to have been filmed at the Santa Barbara campus of the University of California
Many of the men were baffled by the request and assumed it was a joke

A 22-year-old woman who works for a top modeling agency told cops that movie producer Harvey Weinstein molested her during a meeting in Tribeca over the weekend, sources said Monday.
The woman told police that the famed producer grabbed her breasts and touched her thigh around 6 p.m. Friday at the Tribeca Film Center, sources said.
“He asked if they [her breasts] were real,” a police source said of the woman’s complaint.
The woman said that Weinstein grabbed her breast, and she said “no,” to make him stop, the source said. Afterward, she walked into the 1st Precinct to file a complaint.

Reed College Student Banned From Class For Accurate Questioning Of Rape Statistics

[From article]
A student at Reed College has been banned from class for denying the existence of “rape culture” in the United States and arguing that the oft-repeated statistic that one in five women are raped at college is bogus.
Jeremiah True, 19, received an email from professor Pancho Savery on March 14 telling him he was making his classmates so uncomfortable that he was no longer welcome to participate in the “conference” sections of his Humanities 110 class, a course which focuses on the art and literature of classical Greece, according to BuzzFeed News.
[. . .]
“There are several survivors of sexual assault in our conference, and you have made them extremely uncomfortable with what they see as not only your undermining incidents of rape, but of also placing too much emphasis on men being unfairly charged with rape,” said Savery in an email True posted online. “[Other students] have said that things you have said in our conference have made them so upset that they have difficulty concentrating in other classes. I, as conference leader, have to do what is best for the well-being of the entire class, and I am therefore banning you from conference for the remainder of the semester.”
[. . .]
The “About Reed” page on the college’s website repeatedly extols the importance of independent thought and free inquiry. The first operating principle of the college reads ”The educational mission of the college requires the freest exchange and most open discussion of ideas. The use of censorship or intimidation is intolerable in such a community.” The school’s mission statement declares that “The goal of the Reed education is that students learn and demonstrate rigor and independence in their habits of thought, inquiry, and expression.”
[. . .]
Whether or not True is “triggering” his fellow students, his argument against the 1-in-5 rape statistic is on solid ground factually. While activists and even the White House have repeated the claim that 20 percent of women are raped at college, that number is primarily based on a study that had numerous shortcomings:
[. . .]
Department of Justice research, on the other hand, suggests that about 0.6 percent of collegiate females are raped in a given year.

ACLU Teaching High School Students How To React To Being Stopped By Police, Politely

[From article]
The principal of East Side Community HS invited the New York Civil Liberties Union to give a two-day training session last week on interacting with police.
The 450 kids were coached on staying calm during NYPD encounters and given a “What To Do If You’re Stopped By The Police” pamphlet.
NYCLU representatives told kids to be polite and to keep their hands out of their pockets. But they also told students they don’t have to show ID or consent to searches, that it’s best to remain silent, and how to file a complaint against an officer.
[. . .]
But some law-enforcement experts say the NYCLU is going beyond civics lessons and doling out criminal-defense advice.
[. . .]
Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association said, “Education is the key, but are Civil Liberties going in with an agenda or to educate? I think we deserve equal time and should have the opportunity to follow up with the same platform to explain exactly what police do and what we think is the best way to deal with the police.”

Clemson University Sent Out Mandatory Sex Questionaire

[From article]
UPDATE, 1:17 a.m. — Clemson University has suspended the mandatory training until further notice due to the content of certain questions.
Clemson University is requiring students to reveal how many times they’ve had sex in the past month and with how many partners.
In screenshots obtained exclusively by Campus Reform, the South Carolina university is asking students invasive and personal questions about their drinking habits and sex life as part of what they’ve billed as an online Title IX training course.
“How many times have you had sex (including oral) in the last 3 months?” asks one question.
“With how many different people have you had sex (including oral) in the last 3 months?” asks another.
Clemson is requiring students and faculty to complete an online course through a third party website that asks invasive questions about sexual history.
In an email Clemson says that failure to complete the course will be a violation of the “Student Code of Conduct, General Student Regulation 8: Failure to Comply with Official Request.”

Good Question

Is it worth one's time to continue a debate after the opponent is revealed in the debate to be a liar and a hypocrite?

October 27, 2010

Are Correct Questions Being Asked?

Why do police withold the BAC of the officer who was riding on the hood of the car? Why didn't the driver let him inside? Are police trained to ride on hoods of cars? Why was this officer carrying a loaded weapon while riding on the hood? Is that part of their training? Was the car an automatic or a stick shift?
