Journalists Encourage Abuse of Disabled Persons

Saying a "mentally disturbed" man committed a crime suggests that mental illness was the cause of his violence. This is a pervasive misguided belief among journalists, who want simplistic explanations for crime. It is their beliefs that are simplistic and nonsensical. Why is there no skepticism by journalists of psychiatry? Scrutiny shows that mental illnesses are made up without any scientific basis. But among mental patients it is unlikely they are violent. It is a misconception by journalists that encourages abuses of persons with disabilities by police and caregivers who accept the deceptive description in media. This sort of reporting adds to the disgust among civilians of journalists along with their patrons in the elected criminal class.

[From article]
"A mentally disturbed camp counselor pleaded guilty yesterday to fatally stabbing his family’s psychotherapist in a fit of rage during a 2008 home visit, even though Thomas Belanger claims to remember little now about Diruhi Mattian’s death."
