Misguided Goals
A demand missing from this protest is for the police and journalists to stop referring to suspects as "dirt bags, and "scum bags." Dehumanizing their suspects makes it OK to beat, to deny rights and to disrespect the persons being arrested. As pointed out in another article about the difference between the rule of law in the US with regard to Samson and how the charming Arab spring youth hacked Khadafy to death is a more extreme case of what Boston Police do. Omitted from their agenda is how police treat persons with disabilities. Police love to target persons accused of mental illness because no one will defend them. Taxpayer funded lawyers and taxpayer funded human services corporations, fail to protect them. Another omission is the fact that black police are as brutal as white police. It is not their race or skin color but their integrity that matters. Calling for more minority police suggests that they are morally superior to whites. That is unfortunately a fantasy. Finding integrity among public officials is a rarity these days.
