If they work from their medical school offices they are employed in a for profit endeavor on tax exempt property. Under usual circumstances, i.e., with individuals held accountable for legal transgressions, Harvard Medical School would lose its tax exemption. But in Massachusetts, and especially in Boston and Cambridge where Harvard dominates the economy, laws are optional.
