Progressivism is coming full circle with the arrival of racial segregation in the student dormitories at the University of Iowa.
At the dawn of progressivism, eugenics was meant to improve the human race by discouraging “inferior” races from reproducing, as Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger intended. The founding generation of progs had no difficulty identifying who those inferiors were, either: blacks, Asians, and basically anybody that wasn’t like the people in charge in the United States a century and more ago. Progressive President Woodrow Wilson introduced segregation to the armed services.
All of this was held up as an effort to improve society. And now, the same motivations are at work in progressive citadels like the University of Iowa.

In an effort to improve its recruitment and retention of minority students, the University of Iowa is planning to offer a new living-learning community this fall that is open only to students who identify as black or African-American.

Yes, “identity-based community” sounds much better than “racially segregated dormitory.” And of course, as bigots always say, "it's for their own good."

More misguided policies dividing people, by race, gender. Notice wealthy and powerful black persons were not prohibited. Why no religious restrictions? More than pure campaign contributions by approved interests, this rally prefers politically correct voters. The United States is becoming majority non white. Who will comfort the minority white population, especially in non white cities? If being the majority makes people feel comfortable what difference does the source of campaign contributions make? Self identification determines one's race, sexual preference and gender. Will people lie to get special benefits? Racial supremacists ignore persons with disabilities (not even mentioned in this report), who lack wealthy and powerful allies to enable their own unequal restrictions. Who will make them feel comfortable?

“Every time someone comes over, I have to explain why the fence is there . . . and tell them we’re rent stabilized, like it’s a badge I have to wear,” she said.
McFadzen’s boyfriend, Erik Clancy, who also lives in the two-bedroom pad, is outraged, too.
“I can’t imagine them saying [to market-rate tenants], ‘You get this beautiful view of Manhattan behind a giant metal fence,’ ” he said.

“It has come to our clients’ attention that you are exceeding your area of usage,” attorney William Slochowsky wrote on Oct. 28 — days after Q41 held a ribbon-cutting attended by Comptroller Scott Stringer, Rep. Carolyn Maloney and others.
The terrace is part of the building’s sixth-floor pedestal, with wooden dividers providing about eight units with private decks.

Once a stalled condo project, the 17-story building was revived by the city Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s Housing Asset Renewal Program. The city doled out $7.6 million in subsidies and, with Bank of America, provided $28 million in low-interest construction loans to Queensboro.
All but eight of the 117 units in the 41st Avenue tower are “affordable” middle-income pads, with $1,103-a-month studios and two-bedrooms costing as much as $2,186 a month.
The fenced terraces have drawn comparisons to “Poor Doors,” separate entrances for low-income tenants living in luxury buildings.

In New York City, the largest school system in the U.S. with 1.1 million pupils, the study notes that many of the charter schools created over the last dozen years are among the least diverse of all, with less than 1 percent white enrollment at 73 percent of charter schools.

"To create a whole new system that's even worse than what you've got really takes some effort," said Gary Orfield, co-director of the Civil Rights Project and an author of the report.

People Self Segregate; Harvard Promotes Diversity, and Segregates Its Housing

Individuals and groups of all sorts have always differed from one another in many ways, throughout centuries of history and in countries around the world. Left to themselves, people tend to sort themselves out into communities of like-minded neighbors.
This has been so obvious that only the intelligentsia could misconstrue it — and only ideologues could devote themselves to crusading against people's efforts to live and associate with other people who share their values and habits.



That may be true but Harvard University promotes diversity and multiculturalism for their campus and for the world. Yet they segregate their housing portfolio, restricting it to only full time Harvard affiliates. Within the buildings they move elder tenants into one segregating it further by age. Is that an example of how the intelligentsia corrupts its own standards? Or is it how the liberal elite sets standards for others but exempts itself from the standards?

The goal is to help communities understand "fair housing barriers" and "establish clear goals" for "improving integrated living patterns and overcoming historic patterns of segregation."

HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan said "the American Dream still isn't within equal reach of all communities. He lamented the lack of diversity in America's boardrooms, schools, and the nation's 'strongest neighborhoods.'"

Under the proposed rule, the neighborhood data provided by HUD will be used to evaluate patterns of integration and segregation, racial and ethnic concentrations of poverty, and access to "valuable community assets." HUD wants to know if existing laws and policies -- such as zoning, financing, infrastructure planning and transportation -- create, perpetuate or alleviate segregation.

Unapologetically Harvard University segregates its housing portfolio prohibiting non Harvard affiliates from renting units in their buildings. Their response was "Are we the only ones who do that?" Under an agreement with the Cambridge City Council and long term now retired Cambridge City Manager Robert W. Healy (who now works for Harvard doing fund raising), Harvard was allowed beginning in 1995 to stop permitting non Harvard people from renting Harvard property. They agreed to not evict any non Harvard person in place in 1995, from their premises without cause.  Nonetheless they did harass some women tenants who left their belongings and their premises behind when threatened by Harvard's real estate thugs. In 2013 Harvard's real estate segregationists are now moving all older tenants into one building segregating them further. This is not only an example of how Harvard officials dissemble about diversity, but also it is contrary to this new effort by HUD. The only problem is that local officials, state officials and federal officials seldom hold Harvard accountable to laws which others must obey or be penalized. Harvard appears to have a constitutional exemption which allows them to ignore inconvenient laws. They have no shame and exercise their old boys and new girls networks in government agencies to thwart the goals of the law abiding minority of elected officials.

explains how one element of of making students into conformists is to segregate them by age into classes for their entire 12 or 13 years of attending schools. It is one more way that Harvard helps to divide Americans, joining  Obama's effort to do so by race, religion and ethnicity. Harvard continues that effort in housing their students, faculty and staff. Harvard University police thugs should be recognized for responding to this post by increasing the amount and intensity of the daily harassment they provide to me in their building. The night after I posted this my sleep was disturbed every hour or less increased from the usual every two hours. Great way to add to the misery of the world. Is that one more public service Harvard University provides to the world?

Harvard Extends Segregation To Allston

Extending housing segregation to Allston is no problem. Harvard practices housing segregation (since 1995) in Cambridge approved by a formal agreement with the Cambridge City Council. Harvard isolates and protects their affiliates from being soiled by the dreaded class of "members of the community." That includes any living person who does not have a formal connection to Holy Harvard. Graduates of other colleges and universities are second class citizens, "community members" with no Harvard privileges. Uppity community members are frequently arrested by Harvard's private campus cops and banned from Harvard property. Housing owned and operated by The President and Fellows of Harvard College is restricted to Harvard affiliates. Others cannot live on Harvard-owned property. What's good for Cambridge is good for Allston.

Shut Down the Projects


Jane Jacobs (The Death and Life of Great American Cities) explained that housing projects make it almost impossible for residents to move up and out. It is cheaper to provide subsidies and allow all economic levels of families to live amongst one another. This conflicts with Harvard policy which is to segregate classes based upon their status in society. Nonetheless Jacobs makes the case for ending the cycle of poverty. Cambridge, run by elitists, subscribes to the traditional view of segregation.
