Elder Woman Found Dead in Rhode Island Home

[From article]
Police are investigating after an elderly woman was found dead inside her Woonsocket home.
Police are saying the death of the 78-year-old woman is considered suspicious. They have not elaborated on how she died, but say they found her Wednesday afternoon after responding for a well-being check at 191 Fairfield Avenue.
A neighbor told ABC6 News his son spotted her through a back window.
"She was in the bedroom laying down underneath the mattress. Obviously they flipped the mattress on top of her and left it like that."
That man who asked not to be identified described the inside of the home as being ransacked.
"Police officers told me when they interviewed me at work today that the whole bedroom looked like there was a big fight."
Police spent the night scouring through the home. Officers were spotted taking fingerprints and removing evidence bags.
"We've been handling this investigation as a suspicious death," said Acting Woonsocket Police Chief Michael Lemoine. "This appears to be an isolated event at this time."
Neighbors identify the woman as Connie, and say they're still trying to wrap their heads around what exactly happened.
"She was a peaceful woman she was sweet, a really sweet woman," said Joy Young. "I don't really know what's going on and I grew up on this street so I'm feeling a little emotional. It's a sad day."
“As far as I know she would not have any enemies she just kept to herself, did gardening, did her morning walk and gave dogs treats. She was a very kind person," said Tammy Deorsey.

Petition to Rhode Island Governor Regarding Threat Of Middle East Muslim Migrants

Gov. Raimondo Ignores Serious Risks to Rhode Islanders Posed by Syrian Refugees

Jewish community especially endangered
On February 22, at 2:15-3:15 at the State House in Providence, former Congressman Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich), former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rhode Island State Representative Mike Chippendale, and Dr. Charles Jacobs, President of Americans for Peace and Tolerance, will call on Gov. Raimondo to reconsider her unconditional welcome to Syrian refugees, whose culture rejects basic American values.

Jacobs said, “We are a country of immigrants. We welcome people who come here to join us and bolster our way of life. We see and sympathize with people fleeing war and violence. But an influx of Syrian refugees may pose a significant danger to Rhode Islanders, and especially to the Jewish community here.”

He said, “Three top Obama administration officials are telling us that Syrian refugees cannot be properly vetted for connection to terror and jihadist ideology.”

FBI Director James Comey has stated that “We can query our databases until the cows come home, but nothing will show up because we have no record of them.”

Congressman Peter King, Homeland Security Counterterrorism Subcommittee Chairman says that “There is absolutely no real way of vetting these refugees coming in. . . . it definitely puts the United States at risk.”

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper says he has a “huge concern” about ISIS’s ability to infiltrate the country via Syrian refugees.”

Jacobs said, “In all the national discussion, no one has raised the question of the deeply ingrained hatred of the West – and particularly Jews -- that is inculcated through Syrian educational intuitions – starting from childhood. Yet studies of Syrian school curricula show that practically every Syrian will have been taught these hatreds. This is the sad consequence of growing up under a Ba’athist regime – a violent authoritarian movement with its roots in 1930s European fascism. But in the U.S., no one is talking about Syrian cultural values. Even Jewish community leaders have failed to take note of this danger.”

A study of Syrian textbooks, written in 2000, concludes that the regime works to “indoctrinate children with the idea that it is their duty to wage Jihad and become martyrs in the service of the state and its ideology.” The study also found that extermination of the Jews is stated as an obligation in an eleventh-grade textbook.

The Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace published a report in 2001 that revealed Syrian school textbooks teach that Jews “are portrayed as enemies of the Arabs since antiquity, of Islam since its inception, of all mankind, of the prophets and of God himself” and “The Holocaust is justified, though its magnitude is exaggerated by the Jews.” The textbooks also teach that martyrdom is an ‘exalted value’ and encourage students to study ‘actual or imagined attacks on civilians.’

Dr Jacobs argues: “We need to heed the lessons of Europe. We are inviting in people from a radicalized culture that rejects tolerance and teaches hatred of women, gays, Jews, and democracy.

Jewish leaders in Europe have spoken about the growing violence against the Jewish community surging from Muslim immigrants. Sexual assaults and violent anti-Semitism now affect much of Western Europe. Before we can admit hundreds of these refugees, we must first gauge the threat they pose and examine the ideas they support.”

RI Police Welfare Check Leads To Arrest For Weapons Poissession

[From article]
Cops were initially called to check on L’esperance Friday night after his wife found him in their basement and feared he had tried to kill himself. L’esperance fought with the officers, according to a police report. His wife told police L’esperance had pushed her, and he was charged with domestic assault and battery, assaulting a police officer, intimidating a witness, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
His wife took out a restraining order against her husband, which required him to surrender all his guns, and he told police he had just one shotgun at a relative’s house in Rhode Island. But his wife said there was a handgun at the Medway house, which prompted the search. L’esperance was tracked to a Rhode Island hospital and arrested by the Rhode Island State Police. He’s now facing charges of violating a restraining order and various gun and explosives charges.

Black Teen Charged With Homicide of US Army Veteran, Rhode Island Father of 3-year-old Daughter

26-year-old Colby Mendonca

[From article]
Erico Montalvo, of 10 Pocasset Ave., wore no expression as he was led handcuffed into District Court early Friday morning to face the charges. The timing, coincidentally, was just before the funeral Mass for 26-year-old Colby Mendonca of Pawtucket.
Mendonca and his friend, Russell Gleason, 25, were in the parking lot behind the Walgreens at 533 Elmwood Ave. just before 2 a.m. when they got into an argument with strangers, according to police. The argument became a fight that left Gleason badly injured and Mendonca dead.
Special Assistant Attorney General Meg McDonough told Magistrate Joseph Ippolito that Montalvo admitted to Providence investigators that he'd been at the scene and had stabbed both men.

Rhode Island Gentleman Arrested Forty One Times

Brandon Hayes, 30, of Central Falls, RI

[From article]
The trooper performing the stop said Hayes, a passenger in the vehicle, had three bags of marijuana on his person. The trooper learned that as the vehicle was pulling over, Hayes removed a loaded handgun from his waist and put it under the passenger seat. The trooper recovered the 9mm pistol. Drug packaging material was found in the trunk, police said.
Hayes was charged with several drug offenses and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Hayes has a criminal history that includes 38 arrests in Massachusetts and two in Rhode Island, including gun and drug charges, state police said. He recently served 18 months behind bars for a 2012 assault conviction.

FBI raids RI House Speaker's Office, He Resigns

[From article]
PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  Rhode Island House Speaker Gordon Fox is resigning from his leadership post and will not run for re-election, he said Saturday, a day after federal and state authorities raided his Statehouse office and home as part of a criminal investigation that they would not detail.
"Because of the respect I have for all members of the House of Representatives, I am resigning as Speaker," Fox said in a written statement emailed Saturday evening to reporters. "The process of governing must continue and the transition of leadership must be conducted in an orderly manner."
The 52-year-old Providence Democrat said he planned to serve out the remainder of his term, but that "my personal focus going forward will be on my family and dealing with the investigation."

Fox has represented Rhode Island's capital in the General Assembly for more than 20 years, and became the nation's first openly gay House speaker when he assumed the post in 2010.

Uh, Oh. FBI investigating victims? We're all in trouble. Are you sure he does not have a disability too? Maybe some native American blood?
