According to witnesses, at roughly 4 A.M. Friday morning, two masked men arrived at two homes in the village of Douma, not far from the settlement of Migdalim. They sprayed painted graffiti reading "revenge" and "long live the Messiah" in Hebrew, breaking the windows of the homes and throwing two firebombs inside.
One of the two homes was empty at the time, but there was a family in the second: 18-month-old Ali Saad Daobasa, his father Sa'ad, mother Reham, and 4-year-old Ahmed.
The four were evacuated to a hospital in Nablus in the West Bank and then to the burns unit at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.
The Israel Defense Forces subsequently confirmed that 18-month-old Ali died in the attack, and that Jewish extremists are suspected to be behind the attack.

Local resident Mesalem Daoubasah, 23, said he saw four settlers fleeing the scene, with several local residents following in pursuit. According to Daoubasah, the settlers fled toward the settlement of Ma'aleh Ephraim.
Daoubasah added that other witnesses saw the settlers smash the windows of the house before throwing firebombs inside.

An ultra-Orthodox Jewish man stabbed six gay pride marchers in Jerusalem Thursday — weeks after completing a 10-year sentence for knifing three people at the same event in 2005, authorities said.
Yishai Shlissel — released from prison just three weeks ago — had posted a message online about the “abomination” of a gay pride parade in the holy city.
[. . .]
Shlissel published a handwritten letter a week ago saying, “It is the obligation of every Jew to keep his soul from punishment and stop this giant desecration of God’s name next Thursday,” the Israeli Maariv newspaper reported.
Anti-gay protesters from the far-right group Lehava staged a demonstration at the parade, with members holding rainbow-colored banners reading, “Mum, where is Dad?” and “Dad, where is Mum?”
[. . .]
Israeli leaders — including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin — and ultra-Orthodox leaders condemned the attacks.
“People celebrating their freedom and expressing their identity were viciously stabbed,” Rivlin said. “We must not be deluded, a lack of tolerance will lead us to disaster. We cannot allow such crimes, and we must condemn those who commit and support them.”
Jerusalem’s annual pride parades are smaller than those in Tel Aviv.

A Palestinian protester stands amid burning tires during clashes with Israeli forces in the West Bank today. The day was one of the most tense in the occupied territory in recent months. Notice the bar of soap in his right hand, in case anyone says any bad words. Oh, wait. Is that a rock?
A Palestinian youth has been shot dead by Israeli soldiers during a clash following the death of a toddler in a firebombing attack on his home.
The youth died at a West Bank hospital, just hours after the clash with Israeli troops near Ramallah, said Palestinian hospital officials.
The confrontation was one of three in a matter of hours in which Palestinians were killed on one of the most tense days in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip in recent months.
The Palestinian youth was fired upon by Israeli soldiers after he threw a fire-bomb at them, the military said.
The clash came after an 18-month-old Palestinian boy was killed on Friday in a house fire in the West Bank village of Duma, near Nablus, that was thought to have been started by Jewish settlers.
His parents and a sibling are in critical condition in Israeli hospitals, according to officials.
In the Gaza Strip, Israeli soldiers also shot dead a Palestinian teenager on Friday near the border fence in the northern part of the coastal territory, according to Palestinian medical officials.
Israeli troops on Saturday used riot dispersal techniques to break up clash in the West Bank between Israel settled and Palestinians, according to the Israeli army.
Stones were thrown, but no casualties or arrests were reported.
Friday's arson attack drew anger and widespread condemnation from Palestinian and Israeli leaders, who denounced it as an act of terror.

Thousands of Israelis rallied Saturday night in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem against "incitement and violence," following attacks by Jewish extremists targeting Palestinians and homosexuals.
An ultra-Orthodox Jew on Thursday stabbed six participants of a Gay Pride march in Jerusalem, leaving one of the victims in critical condition.
Just hours later, suspected Jewish extremists torched a Palestinian home in the West Bank, killing a toddler and critically wounding his parents and brother.
Correspondents said around 2,000 people, including an uncle of the dead Palestinian toddler, participated in the Tel Aviv rally organised by the Peace Now settlement watchdog.
"We call on the government to take strong action against the violence of the settlers and to restart immediately the peace process," Peace Now director Yariv Oppenheimer told AFP.
