CEO Of Energy Corporation, Dies In Car Accident, Day After He Was Indicted

Aubrey McClendon, the founder and former CEO of oil and gas giant Chesapeake Energy, died Wednesday in a single-car crash in Oklahoma City, a day after he was charged with bid-rigging in the energy markets.
McClendon, 56, was driving at a “high rate of speed” at about 9 a.m. when he drove through a grassy area and crashed head-on into a wall, dying instantly in a 2013 Chevy Tahoe, Oklahoma City police Capt. Paco Balderrama said at a press conference.
The car erupted into a fireball after, charring the crushed hull of the vehicle, according to photos of the scene.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the crash was an accident.
McClendon’s death comes one day after a federal grand jury indicted him on charges of conspiring to rig the price of oil and gas leases in Oklahoma.
“While serving as CEO of a major oil and gas company, the defendant formed and led a conspiracy to suppress prices paid to leaseholders in northwest Oklahoma,” US Assistant Attorney General Bill Baer said in a statement Tuesday.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday delivered a major blow to President Barack Obama by blocking federal regulations to curb carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, the centerpiece of his administration's strategy to combat climate change.
On a 5-4 vote, the court granted a request made by 27 states and various companies and business groups to block the administration's Clean Power Plan. The move means the regulations will not be in effect while litigation continues over whether their legality.

The 27 states opposing President Obama's regulations are acting in self defense. In other words, these states, including West Virginia, need these plants to create jobs.
The Obama administration did not consult these states and try to find some common ground, a reasonable point between concern for the environment and paychecks.

No mention of the waste of hot air at City Council meetings, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and at the law school. Why not measure how much all of that hot air contributes to global warming? Then there is the wasted energy at the state house, and in state and federal courts. At least capture the hot air and use it to clean the streets and sidewalks of snow and ice. Have above mentioned venues been vetted for how many carbon foot/pounds they are using?

It is deliciously self-satirical that Wu also directs a Columbia Journalism School First Amendment center as well, for the real purpose of his piece seems less a complaint about the wealth of Tribe’s client than an effort, however anemic, to silence Tribe’s defense of constitutional views that Wu dislikes. Free speech, indeed.

Mark Levin Feels Boston's Pain

"It's obvious their political leaders don't care that they have been suffering so much this winter. They want to make energy more expensive and keep people freezing and miserable. I want to encourage people to drive their cars more often, keep their lights on, and use more energy, which is what gives us life."
Members of the climate change consensus accuse skeptics variously of denying science, ignoring evidence or even being stooges of large energy producers. But Levin has staked out a position even further out on the continuum than most global warming villains.

"No challenge  poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change," said Obama in his State of the Union speech Tuesday [January 20, 2015].

Global warming be damned. What would Al Gore think? Or the White House? Harvard announced the highest amount of fund raising among colleges this year, beating out Stanford University for the top spot. Haven't seen who leads in wasting energy, helping to deplete the planet of its natural resources. Perhaps if you have surplus money you do not need to worry about such things. 1,700 to 2,000 of the one percent, who traveled to the World Economic Forum on climate change (Ahem!) in Davos, Switzerland arrived by their own private jet planes.




Thinking locally, Harvard University, in one building alone may have wasted scores of gallons of fuel oil this winter (2014-2015) alone. On a 15 degree Fahrenheit night between two heavy snowstorms in January 2015, this hall window was open as wide as possible.



It was on the fifth floor, drawing heat from all lower levels of the building on a windy cold night. One would think that the highest fund raising university, the most prestigious university in the United States would be able to learn from recent alerts about wasting energy, at least in one building alone.



Alas in this dumbed down nation, even the best and the brightest, the richest university in the nation, has no institutional memory from two weeks ago. Once again those who wander the streets say thank you to Harvard University, especially to  Harvard University Housing experts, and the university sustainability team, for making Cambridge a warmer place when it is freezing cold. Not that the highly competitive and materialistic nature of Harvard University is genuinely warmer to humans. But that is another story for another time and place.



Harvard University campus police, building superintendents and graduate students can earn academic and economic credit, for harassing a 70-year-old man that they say is "crazy." What more do you need to know about Harvard University? No wonder Harvard is worshipped globally. It appears the university faculty teaches how to prey on vulnerable humans, how to exploit them. Is that why they get so much money, to encourage more of that behavior while preaching morality.



Wasting energy is a minor offense. But then Harvard University affiliates have superior standards and greater moral knowledge than ordinary humans. Harassing a vulnerable elder citizen and wasting energy has a higher meaning and effect, than ordinary civilians, unaffiliated with Harvard University, can understand. Campus police need to practice harassing elder citizens. It is what they will have to do when there are too many old people.

It is on the stairway. One must be at least 12 feet tall to reach the window to close it. I am not even six feet tall.

The images on these pages are extraordinarily beautiful. Great photography. Here's one concern about the effectiveness of their dedicated professionals. Below are images of one door in a Harvard University Housing owned and operated building (85 Prescott Street). Students, faculty and staff live in this building. Over the past eight years the door knob to this door (first floor south stairs) fell off more than a dozen times. Complaints to the maintenance office were usually responded to and the knob was placed back onto the door. 

The University frequently sends out printed and digital memos reminding residents to conserve energy. The university spent money reducing water flow in the faucets. They brought curly light bulbs which allegedly are more efficient. But when it comes to recognizing waste of heat energy not so much. Bureaucracies have always focused mainly on sustaining themselves. No different at Harvard University which is growing into the largest education bureaucracy in the world. 

Oh yes, the door. In summer months having this door open allows the warm air to travel up the stairway to the door to the roof and leave the building keeping it cooler. But in the winter? Well the warm air generated by steam radiators (see one about three feet from the doorway), also travels to the stairway, rises up to the roof, goes out into the atmosphere warming the world. Thanks Harvard.

One person is assigned to maintain each building. The superintendent refers to it as "My building." But he seldom scans the premises to see if there are problems. Lights go out for months until one concerned resident notifies the maintenance office. It is almost as if they expect this resident to do the work of the superintendent without pay. The same resident, on three occasions, asked one of the superintendents to fix the door knob when they were at the building for other matters. After a few days the knob fell off again. It remains that way for weeks if not months like other minor problems needing repair.

But this one wastes energy 24/7 during winter months. See, the real purpose of the sustainability division is to maintain itself. Superintendents spend some of their time harassing residents who complain about needed repairs. On one occasion the campus police stopped and questioned the same resident when he tried to stop tenants from providing food for rodents in the area around and inside the building. HUPD also spends some of its time harassing the same tenant. Who does he think he is telling us what to do?



It indicates how important it is to keep proper priorities. The bureaucracy must be free from diversions. It must remain focused on "Job One," maintaining itself. Saving energy, keeping premises clean, and replacing burnt out light bulbs, not so much. Stopping waste of energy is not a high priority for the sustainability office at Harvard University. Just keep that in mind, bud. Keep sending out emails to the university community. The primary focus is to maintain the image of the office of sustainability. That is why so many PR flacks are essential.

EPA Accused of Destroying Emails To Protect Obama

Conservative talker Mark Levin's legal unit, in a battle with the Environmental Protection Agency over allegations it delayed politically damaging regulatory moves until after President Obama's reelection, is charging that agency big shots are destroying key emails and texts to hide those efforts.
In the latest twist of his suit dating to August 2012, Levin's Landmark Legal Foundation asked a federal judge to punish the EPA “for destroying or failing to preserve emails and text messages that may have helped document suspected agency efforts to influence the 2012 presidential election.”
Landmark cited news reports before the election that indicated the agency was putting off unpopular regulations until after the president won his contest with Republican Mitt Romney. The agency has since cracked down on coal pollution.
“The EPA is a toxic waste dump for lawlessness and disdain for the Constitution,” said Levin, one of the nation’s most popular conservative talk show hosts. His show is carried in Washington on WMAL. “The EPA has to learn that you can’t save the planet by destroying the rule of law,” he added.

EPA Spends $1.6 million on Conference to Save Energy

“The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), Office of Enforcement and Compliance, Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) intends to award a fixed-price Purchase Order … to the Renaissance Arlington Local Capital View Hotel,” the solicitation said. “The purpose of this acquisition is to cover the cost of 195 sleeping room nights from Sept. 9 [to] Oct 2, 2014, at government rate for the 50th public meeting of the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council (NEJAC), a federal advisory committee of the EPA.”
Rooms at the Renaissance Arlington run for roughly $349 a night. At 24 nights, the cost of 195 rooms will reach $1,633,320, or $8,376 per room.
The government per diem rate for lodging is $219 for September. If the EPA receives the per diem rate, the cost will come to $1,024,920 for the duration of their stay.

As WND reported, bloggers also made a connection between the Bureau of Land Management’s raid on Bundy’s land and a solar-energy project in southern Nevada financed by the communist Chinese energy firm ENN. It was to be the largest solar farm in the U.S.
Reid had lobbied heavily for the company’s business, even traveling to China. Reid’s son, Rory Reid, formerly a Clark County commissioner, became a lobbyist for ENN while Sen. Reid’s former senior adviser, Neil Kornze, now leads the BLM.
The project died last year, but the BLM’s library of renewable energy projects revealed it was only one of more than 50 solar, wind and geothermal projects planned for Nevada, California, Arizona and other Western states.

In March 2012, the Washington Examiner reported First Solar, an Arizona-based manufacturer of solar panels, received in 2010 a $16.3 million subsidy to expand its factory in Ohio. The grant came after a $455.7 million taxpayer-funded loan guarantee awarded by the Export-Import Bank to subsidize the sale of solar panels to two solar firms in Canada.
One of the Canadian firms, St. Clair Solar, was a wholly owned subsidiary of First Solar, so when First Solar was shipping its solar panels from Ohio to a solar farm it owned in Canada, the U.S. taxpayers were subsidizing the “export,” the Examiner said.

City Council Focused On Net Zero Buildings and Subsidized Tenants

"Simmons’ policy order to develop a contingency plan to ensure that Cambridge residents receiving fully or partially subsidized rent from federal grants would not see their housing jeopardized in the event of another federal government shutdown." City has a budget surplus, and President and Fellows of Harvard College has $32 billion. The City Council should pass an order to appropriate the surplus and Harvard's endowment to pay rent for all persons who can't pay their rent, including  those without subsidies, e.g. unemployed persons.  Maybe the IRS can pay the rents from the fines collected for not joining Obamacare?
