Blaming and Exploiting Psychiatric Illness For Violence
Dr. Berry sounds reasonable in so far as she recognizes that psychiatric chemicals are not the panacea as promoted by the drug industry and their acolytes. She asks, "why did such an unstable young man slip through the cracks?" regarding Jared Boughner, the Arizona shooter of US Rep. Giffords. This presumes there is a stability standard to which his behavior is measured. Who sets the standards for acceptable behavior, psychiatrists, psychologists? I thought legislatures elected by the voters set what behavior and what speech is protected by the Constitution? Here is one more of the morally superior class of unelected, self appointed, psychologists declaring what is permitted what is not permitted speech and behavior. Encouraging civilians to report crime inspired outrageous behavior by police. TSA arrested a man with a bagel last week after a person felt threatened by the keys in the bag with the bagel.

Berry wants civilians to report strange behavior. Huh?
Psychologist Berry quotes liberal Democratic Sheriff Dupnik who blames right-wing talk for the violence, as the source of a psychiatric diagnosis. Is this a reliable source?
Dr. Berry says, "we need to determine how we can better identify young people and adolescents who may be at risk for psychological problems and violent behaviors." She promotes surveillance and extra legal interference with protected speech and behavior. Psychiatry and psychology breed conformity. Psychiatry and psychology are intolerant of deviant behavior which is otherwise legal. Psychiatry and psychology are personal opinion masquerading as science. Psychiatry and psychology criminalize or at best medicalize protected speech and behavior. If there is a need to curb sources of violence one must look at the psychiatric chemicals forced on unsuspecting civilians by the police power of the state acting under direction of unelected psychiatric and psychological control freaks.
Berry says she does not know "whether treatment could have prevented his actions." All too often treatment causes violence if not to the patient to others due to psychiatric chemicals.
Here's one more example of the Rahm Emanuel doctrine. Don't let a crisis go to waste. Political zealots exploit the tragedy for political purposes. Right behind them the drug industry and the psychiatric industry PR flacks promote more treatment and more waste of taxpayer funds to curb freedom in the name of good.
