Jefferson-Adams Political Feud in 19th Century

Thomas Jefferson left, and John Adams

[From article]
Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were two of the key figures of the American revolution. Jefferson's glorious pen gave the Declaration of Independence the lines that we all love. Adams was a major force in leading the colonies toward independence.
They were part of the first Cabinet under President Washington. Mr. Adams was the first V.P. and the second president. Mr. Jefferson was the second V.P. and third president. Jefferson defeated Adams in 1800 in a very nasty election that fractured their friendship.
After losing to Jefferson, Adams went home to Massachusetts, and the two men never spoke again. It was a very sad ending to a partnership that mattered so much from independence to the formation of the new nation.
[. . .]
The Jefferson-Adams bitter feud remind us that politics has always been rough.

Replacing Historical Icons With PC Images

[From article]
Patrick J. Buchanan is an historian. In his piece, “Dishonoring General Jackson”, Buchanan conjures up facts. That is what historians do. Regarding the recent proposal to put new faces on our currency, and noticing a very certain attitude,
“..this is affirmative action raised to fanaticism, a celebration of President Obama’s views and values, and a recasting of our currency..”
I heard a conservative radio host dismiss the currency reconfiguration issue as a non event. His argument was that there were more important issues to concern ourselves with, the national debt, illegal immigration, etc.. I maintain that we can hold concern for many things at the same time, and that this currency remake is indeed one that should hold our attention. Pat Buchanan agrees.
Image control is no small issue, and politicians and revolutionaries know it. To reface the currency is to shuffle the deck on historical hierarchies, or should I say “load” the deck. It is a rewrite of history, a new declaration of what is and was important. That is no small matter.
[. . .]

Buchanan continues:
This is affirmative action raised to fanaticism, a celebration of President Obama’s views and values, and a recasting of our currency to make Obama’s constituents happy at the expense of America’s greatest heroes and historic truth…
While King already has a holiday and monument in D.C., were the achievements of any of these six women remotely comparable to what the six men honored on our currency — Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton, Jackson, President Grant and Ben Franklin — achieved?

I find it curious that we get the forced and reworked American history lesson from a man who was never tutored in history in the continental United States, and received none from his schooling in Indonesia.

James Madison And Founders Preferred Gridlocked Government

[From article]
You know who’s responsible for the gridlock? James Madison and the rest of the boys at the Constitutional Convention.
[. . .]

Obama has shown a marked absence of self-restraint when it comes to pursuing his political and social goals. He says over and over that the Constitution forbids him to grant amnesty on his own — he’s not an emperor, you know! Then he goes ahead and does it. He changes the health-care law all on his own. He goes around Congress to a friendlier body, namely the U.N. (Obama is a U.N. man if ever there was one.)
[. . .]

a president should not do things merely because he can. Andy Warhol said, “Art is what you can get away with.” Barack Obama’s philosophy seems to be, “The presidency is what you can get away with.”

Comments from JFK's Favorite Brightest Man

At a dinner of intelligent men and women, John F. Kennedy said, "This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House with the exception of when Thomas
Jefferson dined alone . . . . !!"

This is what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802 . . . . :
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous, to our liberties, than standing armies . . . .
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency . . . . first by inflation, then by deflation . . . . The banks and the corporations that will grow up around them . . . . will deprive the people of all property . . . . until their children wake-up homeless, on the continent that their fathers conquered . . . . !!"

More quotes from Thomas Jefferson . . . .
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the Right . . . ."To keep and bear arms" . . . . Is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government . . . . !!"
-- Thomas Jefferson

"No free man shall ever be barred from the use of arms . . . . !!"
-- Thomas Jefferson

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time . . . . with the blood of patriots as well as tyrants . . . . !!"
-- Thomas Jefferson

"My reading of history, convinces me, that . . . . most bad government, results from too much government . . . . !!"
-- Thomas Jefferson

"I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of taking care of them . . . . !!"
-- Thomas Jefferson

"To compel a man to subsidize, with his taxes, the propagation of ideas, which he disbelieves and abhors . . . . is sinful and tyrannical . . . . !!"

"The democracy will cease to exist, when . . . . you take away from those who are willing to work, and give to those who would not . . . . !!"
-- Thomas Jefferson

"It is incumbent on every generation, to pay its own debts as it goes . . . . A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world . . . . !!"

How did Jefferson know?

How did Jefferson know?

John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House for a group of the
brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement:

"This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to
gather at one time in the White House with the exception of
when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

Description: cid:X.MA1.1312821246@aol.com

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe,
we shall become as corrupt as Europe.

Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those
who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.
A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government
from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much
government.

Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.

Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms
is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of
patriots and tyrants.

Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he
disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802 "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their
currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will
grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children
wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Declaration of Independence (Original)

One of two original copies of the Declaration of Independence is on display at the New York City Public Library. Deleted sections can be seen. One was a denunciation of slavery which was deleted to get the support of southern states. See link above.

Dems Fear Tea Party

[From article]
"So, mean right-winger Tea Partiers are hurting the feelings of our sainted elected officials in Washington. There are rumors of intimidation, death threats and, horror of horrors, inappropriate language. So thin-skinned are these folks that Sarah Palin's simple exhortation, "don't retreat, reload," was referred to as "violent words and imagery." Even dead Republicans are the subject of posthumous excoriation, as in these noble words of Barry Goldwater: "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice." One wonders what they would make of Thomas Jefferson's observation that, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

Social Security Over the Years
[Received from GLF]

Now don't be mad at old people, (or me) just remember who did this......

Franklin Delano. Roosevelt
32nd. President, Democrat
Terms of Office March 4, 1933, to April 12, 1945

Our Social Security

Franklin Delano. Roosevelt (Terms of Office March 4, 1933, to April 12, 1945), a Democrat, introduced Social Security (FICA) Program. He Promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put Into the Program would be deductible from Their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'Put Away' -- you may be interested in the following:

---THEN---

Dwight David Eisenhower
34th. President, Republican,
Term Of Office: January 20, 1953 to January 20, 1961

If I recall correctly, 1958 is the first year that Congress, not President Eisenhower, voted to remove funds from Social Security and put it into the General Fund for Congress to spend.

If I recall correctly, it was a Democratically controlledCongress.

From what I understand, Congress' logic at that time was that there was so much money in Social Security Fund that it would never run out / be used up for the purpose it was intended / set aside for.

---WORSE STILL---

Lyndon Baines Johnson 36th. President,Democrat
Term Of Office: November 22, 1963 to January 20, 1969

Question: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into theGeneral Fund so that Congress could spend it?

Answer: It was Lyndon B. Johnson (Democrat, Term of Office: November 22,1963 to January 20, 1969) and the Democratically controlled House and Senate.

Question: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
Answer: The Democratic Party.

William Jefferson Clinton
(Bill Clinton)
42nd. President
Democrat Term of Office: January 20, 1993 to January 20, 2001

Albert Arnold Gore, Jr.
(Al Gore)
45th. Vice President
Democrat Term of Office: January 20, 1993 to January 20, 2001

Question: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

Answer: The Democratic Party, with Albert Arnold Gore, Jr. (Al Gore) [Vice President Term of Office: January 10, 1993 to January 20, 2001] casting the 'tie- breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the USA ........

---THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK!!---

James Earl Carter, Jr
(Jimmy Carter)
39th President, Democrat
Term of Office: January 20, 1977 to January 20, 1981

Question: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuitypayments to immigrants?

AND MY FAVORITE ANSWER:

That's right! JAMES EARL CARTER, JR. JIMMY CARTER) (DEMOCRAT, TERM OF OFFICE: JANUARY 20, 1977 TO JANUARY 20, 1981 AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

IMMIGRANTS MOVED INTO THIS COUNTRY AND AT AGE 65, BEGAN TO RECEIVE SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS:

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTYGAVE THESE PAYMENTS TO THEM…..EVEN THOUGH THEY NEVER PAID A DIME INTO IT!

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!
