Residents of Philadelphia Housing Authority Earn Over $100,000

The Philadelphia Housing Authority has a 10 year waiting list with roughly 100,000 people on it, according to officials.
But while low income and homeless families wait, the NBC10 Investigators found some families were allowed to live in PHA properties while earning six figures.
Officials say 181 families living in PHA housing earn more than they’re allowed to. The Department of Housing and Urban Development refers to them as "over income."
“I believe that they’re serving an important purpose,” PHA president Kelvin Jeremiah said. “I believe that the fact that they’ve achieved some level of success while being in PHA, I want to be able to encourage that.”

Pennsylvania has 750 over income families living in public housing according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. New Jersey has 755. Nation-wide there are 25,226.

The city’s top official on health and homelessness quit because she was tired of being ignored by a mayor more interested in boosting his national profile than attending to the city’s day-to-day concerns, sources said.
Deputy Mayor Lilliam Barrios-Paoli worked for five mayors and oversaw seven city agencies under Mayor de Blasio — but she couldn’t get meetings with him, sources said.

Barros-Paoli oversaw the departments of Health and Homeless Services but had far fewer meetings with the mayor than other top officials, according to 17 months of private mayoral schedules examined by The Post.
She sat in on meetings with the mayor and senior staff 23 times in the first five months of 2015. By comparison, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen, in charge of housing and economic development, convened with de Blasio 98 times, and Budget Director Dean Fuleihan met with Hizzoner 109 times.
The schedules also show that Barrios-Paoli’s face time with de Blasio sharply declined over time. In the first five months of 2014, she attended 76 group meetings with the mayor — 70 percent more than in the same period this year.
And Barrios-Paoli had only two one-on-one meetings with de Blasio between January and May 2015 — lasting a total of 55 minutes.

The executive director of the Stoughton Housing Authority was released on $2,500 bail after pleading not guilty stealing prescription pain medications of a woman in her 90s who lived in one of the authority's units.
Gregory Bartlett appeared Monday in Stoughton District Court on a charges including breaking and entering, theft of a controlled substance and larceny of property valued at more than $250 from a person over 65 years old.
Authorities say as executive director, the 57-year-old Bartlett had access to apartments and a list of residents' medications.

Councillor Marjorie C. Decker, who grew up in Cambridge public housing, said she thought it was important to safeguard the dignity and rights of public housing tenants.
 “It is about trying to protect the individual rights and liberties of tenants who live in public housing at the same time as somebody has to protect the children. This is an issue [the children] can’t protect themselves for,” Decker said. Civil libertarian Rep. Decker has suddenly discovered individual rights? For the many years as a city councilor she joined the other collectivists on the council arguing for collective rights, of women, homosexuals, black Americans, Muslims, Illegal immigrants. Individual rights? What individual rights? I don't got to give you no stinkin' individual rights. If you got no group, or no power in Cambridge, you get no individual rights. You want individual rights go to Russia. Does Harvard University teach politicians how to mouth words as they did with Obama, and Deval Patrick?

Is this the only Housing Authority where there are abuses, fraud and waste of taxpayer funds? (Hillary Chabot, "Michael McLaughlin plea could hurt Tim Murray," Boston herald, February 16, 2013) Considering who appoints these people it is a wonder that no one is scrutinizing these wasteful agencies to see how much more money is being misappropriated. If this guy was able to pay himself an outrageous salary without the board knowing what stops others from doing the same thing?

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers has written to Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff requesting an immediate investigation of the leak, which he deemed "deplorable" and said "was not the first leak of law enforcement information apparently designed to influence the coming presidential election," referring to an ongoing investigation of voter fraud by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN.

He is unconcerned about the “leak” of personal information of Joe “The Plumber,” who was a private individual before the press made him into a public figure.

Since when is a court decision private information? How is that a leak? Why isn’t Conyers outraged that an illegal alien is receiving housing assistance when so many American veterans remain homeless? What are the standards for these obscene elected officials in Washington DC? Have they no shame?
