Federal taxpayers are on the hook for nearly $20,000 just to settle each refugee and asylum seeker, who are then immediately eligible for cash welfare, food stamps, housing and medical aid, according to anew report on the "refugee industry."
The report provided federal budget figures showing that the government spends $19,884 on each refugee the U.S. takes in.

The report from the Negative Population Growth Inc. said that the U.S. is currently accepting about 95,000 refugees and asylees. That is in addition to the over 500,000 legal and illegal immigrants coming to the U.S.
It focused on the industry created to accept the $1.8 billion in federal support to help refugees settle and sign up for further cash awards from Uncle Sam. The refugee agencies get a small portion, or about $1,875 per refugee they help. The rest goes to the United Nations, which helps to determine eligible refugees, and state agencies.
The State Department spends about $1.28 billion, and Health and Human Services another $609 million.

The Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), in the State Department, supports a major share of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' budget. In FY2014 this support came to $1.28 billion, making the U.S. by far the largest donor to the UNHCR. Some of this money is supposedly used to expand the capacity of countries outside the U.S. to absorb refugees – potentially reducing the share of refugees coming to the U.S. Despite this, more refugees come to the U.S. than to the rest of the world combined: 67% of UNHCR-referred refugees settled in the U.S. in 2014.

Once settled, the refugees are eligible for further federal support and most take it, said the report.

Listen to this NPR podcast. They are so proud of it that they re-posted it:
Meet a single mother who makes $16,000 a year and managed to fund a vacation at a Caribbean resort with an interest-free loan from one of the world's largest banks.
The report goes on: an abusive husband; her kid tells how much fun he had playing with dolphins at that resort. Meanwhile, pretty much all her expenses – child care, medical care, food, air conditioning, etc. – are taken care of by the government.
And she thanks God! (How about thanking American taxpayers?)
She declares she has never taken welfare! (She does not consider any of the above “welfare” even though our taxes pay for it.) And she talks about coming to America in 1997 and then talks about going back to “her country” for a visit and tells the interviewer to go to “my country” and see how life is there.
She also mentions taxpayer money going to pay for nails being done.
Taxpayer-funded NPR has the gall to say she "may be the single most successful and productive beneficiary of government assistance you'll ever meet."

All countries have imperfect records, both historically and in contemporary times. All at some point have been engaged in internal and external conflict and encountered enmity and violence. The State of Israel is no different in this respect, and has been the subject of continual hostility by some countries and hostile groups that refuse to recognize its existence and legitimacy.
It is therefore all the more important, at this moment commemorating the 68th anniversary of the creation of Israel, to acknowledge the extraordinary story and achievements of the miracle in the desert. In a Middle East all too replete with failed states, dictatorships, authoritarian regimes, civil wars, terrorist groups, and intra-Muslim religious conflicts, Israel is the only democratic nation and the only economically developed and modernized one.
This often comes as a surprise since Israel is a small country, 8,500 square miles, almost the exact size of the great state of New Jersey, and in which 60 per cent of the land mass is the Negev desert. The width of the country can be crossed, if there is no traffic jam, in 90 minutes.
Equally surprising, Israel is one of the relatively small number of counties (sic) in the world with a flourishing multiparty parliamentary system expressing almost all political points of view, universal suffrage, a free press and media, an independent judiciary often critical of the government, autonomous independent great universities and research centers, and numerous human rights groups.
Israel society is vibrant, diverse and productive. First, it should be universally acknowledged that though the State of Israel is relatively new, the relationship of the Jewish people to the land goes back at least 3,000 years. King David established Jerusalem, which has been the site of two Jewish Temples, as the capital of Israel. This history belies the spin of the fallacious Palestinian Narrative of Victimhood, embraced by haters of Israel, that Jews are foreign occupiers or colonialists in the land native to their ancestors.
Indeed, the Israeli system has incorporated non-Jews. Unlike its neighboring countries, Israel has freedom of worship for all religious groups. Of the 8.4 million population, 75 per cent are Jews, 20 per cent are Arabs, mostly Sunni Muslims, and there are ten other minority religions. Christians constitute 2 per cent of the population, and are more religious that Israeli Jews.
The population is pluralistic and diverse, with variations of religious affiliations and political views, and with ethnic, cultural, color, and linguistic differences. The various aspects of diversity can be illustrated by a few examples. A Jewish Ethiopian became Miss Israel in 2013. Arabic is an official language. About half the lawyers in Israel are women.
The return of Jews to the area, whether described as the Holy Land, Palestine, or Israel, has led to transformation of barren land, planting of forests, irrigation of the soil, building of urban areas, and to economic development.

In spite of international pressure and the bigoted BDS campaign spearheaded by Palestinian activists, Israel has not been isolated internationally. Israel is part of the global world, economically, technologically, and militarily. For a country of its size and population Israel has the most impressive record of technological initiatives as well being on the cutting edge of research in science, medicine, and agricultural innovations. For example, India has become a major purchaser of Israel’s defense systems. China in investing in Israeli companies, especially startup companies. Israel’s credit ratings are high.
A recent example of the military integration is the decision of NATO on May 3, 2016. It upgraded relations with Israel, and invited Israel to establish a permanent mission in its headquarters at Brussels, thus joining together in the fight against terrorism, in intelligence gathering and in cyber technology development.

The BDS bigots, in their animosity towards Israel and possible anti-Semitism, in their determination to boycott relations with Israel research units, are ignorant of the fact that it was the Israeli employees at Motorola in Israel who developed the original cell phone technology.
The country is a treasure for cultural connoisseurs and gourmets. After Tokyo and New York City, it has the largest number of sushi restaurants in a city, that of Tel Aviv, which is now also regarded as the gay capital of the world. Interestingly, Starbucks failed in Israel that has what it regards as better local coffee. The country has pride not only in the large number of Nobel Prize winners, orchestras, museums, theaters, and dance groups, but also in its wineries, especially those in the Golan Heights.

It is a tragedy that the Arab countries, except Egypt and Jordan, surrounding Israel and the Palestinian neighbors have refused to recognize the benefits they would gain from cooperating with Israel, and reaching a peaceful resolution of existing differences. Instead, they have been counterproductive and reactionaries.
The Israeli Declaration of Independence states, “we extend our hand to all neighboring states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighborliness.” Unfortunately, this sentiment has not been reciprocated. Israel has survived the wars thrust upon it by hostile neighbors, but those wars did not lead to a Palestinian interest in peaceful negotiation of the difficult issues dividing the two sides, and need to be resolved. Many in the “international community” have focused on the Palestinian claims and proposed one sided resolutions concerning them. They fail to appreciate that at present there is no Palestinian partner with whom Israel can reach a peace agreement, a settlement that appeared possible in the Oslo accords of 1993, and the Israeli peace offers in 2000 and 2007.
Even well-meaning do-gooders have underestimated the extraordinary success of Israel and the value of Israeli contributions to the Middle East as well as to Western culture. They have often underestimated the Israeli need for secure and defensible borders to survive in a rough neighborhood is paramount. Almost 250 years ago the French writer Jean-Jacques Rousseau told the Poles who were threatened by outside powers, “You are likely to be swallowed whole, hence you must take care to ensure you are not digested.” Israel is acutely aware of the continuing threats to swallow it whole, but the international community needs to be continually reminded of it.

Along with the idea of actual borders, the idea that we owe our citizens the greatest protection is being tossed aside in practice, if not yet in theory.
As you ponder Rick Moran’s blog post, “Illegal alien families surging across border at record pace,” consider this, via the Washington Examiner:
Among recipients of food stamps, welfare cash and Social Security payments, refugee children receive more in taxpayer-funded aid than children of citizens, according to a new report on federal spending from the pro-immigration Migration Policy Institute.



For example, 30 percent of refugee children live in households that received food stamps from 2009-13. Among American children, the number was 27 percent, said the report titled, "Young Children of Refugees in the United States: Integration Successes and Challenges."
Some 8 percent received cash welfare, compared with 6 percent of U.S. citizen households. And 5 percent of children of refugees were part of Social Security's Supplemental Security Income program, compared with 4 percent of U.S. children.

The entitlements that dominate our consciousness are big ticket items such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, unfunded sinkholes ranging from 50 to 200 trillion, depending on who’s counting. These staggering obligations may threaten to wreck national budgets and lay waste to society, but they have little to teach us about the fundamental, and very scary, nature of entitlements. Life’s little lessons are far more instructive. Lesser entitlements that resonate with our everyday experience are more human-size: a pay raise, an inflated school grade or a free drink at Moe’s Tavern on your birthday. We rarely think of these examples as entitlements, but once awarded, just try to get them back.

psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky discovered a profound asymmetry in human behavior they dubbed loss aversion. Through a gamut of social experiments, they demonstrated that people strongly prefer avoiding loss to acquiring gain, a human imbalance that initiated the rewrite of traditional cost–benefit models.

The principle of loss aversion describes how a benefit – any benefit – becomes an entitlement.
[. . .]



Life, for our forebears, was at least precarious and challenging, if not truly “solitary, nasty, brutish and short,” as opined by Thomas Hobbes. Resources were precious. An extra caribou in the larder, a few more fur skins to guard against the elements or a roomier cave were certainly causes for celebration, but the loss of any amount of food, clothing or shelter was dangerous. Gain was valuable, but loss could be lethal; loss aversion makes evolutionary sense. Whether loss aversion remains beneficial or simply vestigial, it appears to be deeply embedded in our genes.

The political wishful thinking that we can cut, manage or even tame big ticket entitlements, if and when we so choose, belies eons of human history.
The time to plan for the control of entitlements is at their inception.

Tiera Williams and her four children dodge cars on a winter evening as they cross the parking lot of the Days Inn to the Washington motel room the children call "Mommy's house."
People at the Days Inn – one of at least 12 motels being used by the city to house 730 homeless families this winter – lean over the balcony that overlooks the courtyard lit by the December glow of yellow lights.
They occupy a hidden world of desperation and poverty mixed with every-other-day maid service, free WiFi, continental breakfast in the lobby, and lunch and dinner in the 170-room motel's banquet room.

Williams dumps bags of groceries on the motel room desk. In the mini refrigerator, she stacks yogurt, apples, oranges and a roasted chicken they will have for dinner that night. She uses her food stamps to buy meals because she doesn't like eating the pasta, casseroles, chicken, hot dogs and other dishes the city provides at the motel.
Isn't this shocking, how taxpayers are paying to prepare such low-class meals for welfare moms? What kind of country is this that doesn't cook better meals for people on welfare?

Mohammed Salim and his wife Noreen, 40, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, receive £27,000 a year in child tax credits and job seeker's allowance.
The 58-year-old Muslim said he doesn’t believe he has been irresponsible for having so many offspring. They had their eldest son in 1991 and another ten followed, with their ages now ranging between 24 to seven years old.
Mohammed said he has no regrets about having a large family, even though, in his words, 'it is the government who pay for their upkeep, food and clothing'.

Just ask Vida Ofori Causey of Worcester. She was charged in federal court Monday with stealing “approximately $3,638,900.88 in fraudulent EBT transactions and SNAP benefits” between 2010 and 2014 at her convenience store on Main Street in Worcester. The J&W Aseda Plaza on Main Street was apparently a very convenient place for Obama voters to use their EBT cards to get 50 cents on the dollar.[. . .]



Here’s a story of some other recent “leakage,” in Manchester, N.H.
This one involves one Jeanette Hardy, 24, who came to the attention of authorities last June after she was shot in the hand during a home invasion by “an unknown African-American male.” She told police she was a “dancer,” but the forfeiture complaint filed by the feds notes that “she hasn’t reported any of her earnings to the IRS.”

The cops got a search warrant and soon turned up all sorts of “brown” drugs in her apartment, according to court documents. The most shocking discovery they made, however, was that she was actually married, to a convicted drug dealer in state prison named Zakee Stuart-Holt.
The police discovered that Zakee had rented safe deposit box #000061001839 at the Bank of America in downtown Manchester last March.
Let’s go to the feds’ forfeiture complaint: “Stuart-Holt provided the bank with his NH EBT (Food Stamp) card and NH Driver’s License to show proof of identification … his only legitimate sources of deposits are SSI checks from the government.”
Inside the safe deposit box rented by the EBT card holder on SSI, the cops found $560,050 in cash, or as the exotic dancer put it, “nothing of significance.”

Harvard University Wants Conformity In Public Spaces

“Harvard is a bureaucracy that seems to want to get bigger and stronger,” said Stephen Helfer. First priority of a bureaucracy is to maintain itself. With more administrators each year, and less contact with students or what they call "members of the community" Harvard University officials act more and more like the solipsistic bureaucracy in Washington D.C. They are remote from reality and what ordinary citizens want. As Councilor Mazen noted if there was more input solicited from ordinary civilians (or even students) who use the spaces before final decisions are made, there would be less disappointments.

Faced with complaints from Cambridge residents, the board on Thursday instructed Harvard officials to rethink some of the building plans to secure more public support for the changes. Members of the Board of Zoning Appeal gave Harvard’s planners and architects no specific instruction on how to improve the plans, and unlike they did at an earlier hearing in June, they set no date to take up the plans again.
Public outcry “is happening because traditionally, people have too much of the decision baked before they go the general public,” Cambridge City Councillor Nadeem Mazen said at the meeting.

Originally, the campus center was slated to first undergo construction in spring 2016 and open in 2018. According to University spokesperson Brigid O’Rourke, Harvard has not altered its construction timeline, despite the two delays from the Board of Zoning Appeal.
In June, Cambridge residents criticized plans for the campus center, intended for use as a public space, arguing that it would be uninviting and exclusive to Harvard affiliates only. At Thursday’s hearing, however, representatives from Harvard presented an updated plan before the board, including added signage clarifying intent for public use.
Other updates to the University’s plans included a written commitment to preserving the chess tables in Forbes Plaza, the area at the corner of Mass. Ave. and Dunster Street. Harvard’s architects and planners also included provisions for additional outdoor seating in that plaza.
But those changes were not enough to assuage residents’ concerns about the proposed renovations. People in opposition to the plans said they thought Harvard’s structure was too grandiose and encroaching on Forbes Plaza, calling the proposed building a “Harvard theme park” and “Taj Mahal”-like structure.

Our partner, government, is doing us wrong. We lived our lives not completely ignorant of what was going on, but lazy enough not to stop it. We heard the warnings, but were not very motivated to heed them. We heard about the fiscal cliff a few years ago, not realizing that we sailed off the cliff in the 1950s or 1960s, maybe before, and now we are in free fall. They say it’s not the fall that kills you, but the sudden stop at the bottom, and our partner cares nary a bit.
As I look back over my fifty-plus year life in America, growing up in a medium-sized city, attending average public schools, going to public college, and working regular jobs as a regular guy, I’m realizing that a large proportion of my America was bought with borrowed money.

Since 1930, the government has run deficits in 74 of the 87 years. (See historical figures published by OMB.) From 2006 to 2015, the average of deficits has been 770 billion dollars, per year.

On top of all that disillusionment, deficit spending has financed a whole bunch of bad things, such as global warming research, corporate bailouts, multiple wars, and the entire Obama administration. I would like to think that eliminating deficit spending would cut the bad stuff first, but I’m probably being naïve.
This evening, think back over your life and consider all the things that were bought with borrowed money. Has this diminished the value and meaning of your life by some fraction? The America we loved was, at least partially, no better than an impulse buy.

Refugees Heavily Dependent on Taxpayer Funded Assistance

Refugees from Africa and the Middle East were the heaviest users of cash assistance at 61.9 percent and 68.3 percent respectively. Latin American refugees only used cash assistance at a rate of 8.1 percent and South Asia used about 42.7 percent. Data for Europe and the former Soviet Union was not available.
The use of food stamps — or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — also varied with 88.9 percent of refugees from Africa, 91.4 percent of Middle Eastern refugees, the Middle East, 72.9 percent of South Asia, and 36.7 percent of Latin American refugees using the benefit.
Overall, according to the report just 50 percent of refugee households in the five year window were self-sufficient.

Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation [. . .] told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee last week that the lifetime costs of Social Security and Medicare benefits paid to the millions of immigrants to whom Obama is granting legal status will be about $1.3 trillion.[. . .]
The average DAPA-eligible family already receives about $6,600 a year in means-tested welfare benefits. That includes food stamps, school lunch (and breakfast), Medicaid, the State Children's Health Insurance Program and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children.
Many Americans labor under the false assumption that because most immigrants are hardworking, they do not depend on welfare assistance. In fact, as Rector patiently explains, most welfare benefits go to households with children headed by a low-income employed adult.[. . .]
The average American, whose children and grandchildren will end up burdened with this enormous debt, must ask whether someone is trying to destroy America.

Look at California for a preview of our future under Obama's immigration plan. The Hispanic population is now almost equal to the white population, and almost 50% of babies born in California are Hispanic.
Nearly a third of "English learners" in U.S. public schools are third-generation Americans who still are not speaking English at home, and the Hispanic illegitimacy rate is 53%. The cheap labor welcomed by employers is not only a huge impediment for American job seekers but also a big expense to taxpayers, who are hit with new costs of schools, hospitals and prisons.[. . .]
The two factors that Americans are most concerned about are jobs and voter fraud. The U.S. has accepted two new immigrants for each additional job created since 2000, according to federal data, and expert witnesses have testified that once the amnestied immigrants are given Social Security numbers and driver's licenses, there will be no way to stop them from registering to vote.

Harvard University’s annual Sex Week observance, which launched Sunday, includes a workshop called “What What in the Butt: Anal Sex 101″ that aims to teach the Ivy League students how to have anal sex.
So-called sex experts from a local adult store will lead the Tuesday talk, which seeks to “dispel myths about anal sex and give you insight into why people do it and how to do it well,” the Fall 2014 Harvard Sex Week agenda states.
“They will cover a wide variety of topics, including: anal anatomy and the potential for pleasure for all genders; how to talk about it with a partner; basic preparation and hygiene; lubes, anal toys, and safer sex; anal penetration for beginners, and much more,” the agenda adds. “Learn the facts about this exciting yet often misunderstood form of pleasure, find out the common mistakes people make, and get all your questions answered.”

Border Patrol Reports Gang Members Crossing Into U.S. To Get Financial Benefits

Chris Cabrera, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 in the Rio Grande Valley, said that confirmed gang members in Mexico — including those from Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) — are coming into the country to be reunited with their families, National Review reported Friday.
“If he’s a confirmed gang member in his own country, why are we letting him in here? … I’ve heard people come in and say, ‘You’re going to let me go, just like you let my mother go, just like you let my sister go. You’re going to let me go as well, and the government’s going to take care of us,’” Mr. Cabrera told the magazine.
