Organized Crime and Government
Post editors say, "organized crime -- or bribery -- in the construction biz isn't exactly new." But they indicate they believe that having members and associates of organized crime in government offices is unusual. The editors add, "the inspectors themselves aren't bona fide mobsters, right?" Would they say "but the US congressmen, or the state reps 'aren't bona fide mobsters, right?'"
In Boston the Irish crime family ran the FBI for many years. Why is that not a surprise? Why are politicians silent about those murderous abuses.
Reading American history books reveals the close association of politicians with organized crime members and families. Most prominent is JFK's father's history of bootlegging. Then the use of Sam Giancana to bring out the vote for JFK in Cook County, IL. And the use of Florida crime families for the Bay of Pigs invasion and assassination attempts on Castro.
Why is it surprising to the editors that a local government with five known crime families operating for 75 years might have one or two members in supervisory positions when the president's father ran a large criminal organization? FDR appointed the known bootlegger to be an ambassador. Who was FDR?
