The incident happened around 3 a.m. Monday at the New Shiloh Christian Church in Melbourne. About 1,500 members attend the church.
Melbourne police said officers and firefighters discovered the blaze after a fire alarm sounded. Arson was the expected cause, police said.
Fire sprinklers helped contain the flames to a storage unit connected to the 125,000-square-foot building.
The words "Allahu Akbar" were spray-painted on the storage unit. "Allahu Akbar" is an Arabic phrase typically translated as "God is great" and is a common expression used in various contexts.
A swastika was also scrawled on church property.

Anti Semitic Vandalism On Private Wisconsin Homes

At least 30 homes in Madison, Wisconsin, were vandalized overnight Friday, some with anti-Semitic slurs and swastikas.
Other residents awoke to derogatory words geared toward women and other minorities sprayed on their homes, cars, garage doors, mailboxes and driveways, according to the Coordination Forum for Countering Anti-Semitism.
One resident, Jim Stein, told Wisconsin television station WISC TV, “Everyone in the neighborhood is pretty upset.”
Stein woke up Saturday morning to discover “F— Jews” scrawled on a garage door across the street and a swastika on the driveway.
“It was, of course, extremely disturbing to me,” Stein, who is the president of the Jewish Federation of Madison, told the station. Other graffiti included a garage door defaced with the words “KKK Bound.”

Rabbi Shot Dead In Miami FL, "Hamas" Painted on Synagogue

two young black males approached 60-year-old Orthodox Jewish Rabbi Joseph Raksin Saturday morning as he was walking to a North Miami Beach synagogue on the 800 block of NE 175th Street.
The two males, one in a yellow shirt and one in an orange shirt, reportedly shot Raksin, who later died after being airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
The police said the suspects fled, one on a bicycle and one on foot. Law enforcement is also holding off labeling the attack a hate crime.
But, as reported by the Miami CBS affiliate in a story from July 28, about two blocks from where Rabbi Raksin was shot, the Congregation Torah Ve'emunah, at 1000 N.E. 175th Street, was vandalized. Around 1 a.m. that morning, a member of a community watch group found swastikas and the word "Hamas" spray-painted on the pillars of the synagogue.
The Saturday before, CBS reports, residents of Meridian Avenue, in a predominately Jewish neighborhood of Miami Beach, were leaving their home to attend a synagogue service when they discovered their cars had been vandalized. The two vehicles were covered in eggs and cream cheese, and the words "Hamas" and "Jew" were written on the car windows.

Parents Of High School Student "Targeted" by Racial Graffiti, Now Suspects

The mother of a former Lunenburg High football player who quit the team after a racial slur was spray-painted on the foundation of the family’s home lied to investigators and stopped cooperating with the probe when asked to make a formal written statement, police said in court papers unsealed today.
The papers, written in support of yesterday’s search warrant at the home of 13-year-old Isaac Phillips and his family, said cops believe Phillips’s mother, Andrea Brazier, “made false statements misleading investigators” and “is in possession of any and all instruments pertaining to the crime of defacing property” being kept at their Chase Street home.
Cops revealed in the search warrant that they were looking for items used to deface property and “any and all paperwork pertaining to the handwriting of Andrea Brazier.”
Investigators seized two cans of spray paint from the home, court papers say, along with one live round of 12-gauge ammunition and four live rounds of 20-gauge ammunition.

[My response to the letter about my letter]

Lyn Betz does what she accuses me of doing, i.e., presents a false choice. The persistent lamentation of law enforcement agencies is they do not have enough resources to address all crime. They create priorities. The murder of 11-year-old Celina Cass remains unsolved. Until that is done it remains a higher priority than graffiti. Finding her killer merits more than the "community's strongest condemnation." It demands all available police resources. For an FBI agent to hold a press conference for a matter which the FBI has no jurisdiction is shameful. Ms. Betz is a more appropriate speaker against hate speech.

Equating graffiti by local hooligans to the Holocaust is nonsense, typical propaganda. The Holocaust was government sponsored character assassination, thuggery and mass murder, not the work of private thugs. No need for a ticket to the Museum, my aunt was a victim of the Holocaust. Too many propagandists use the Holocaust to diminish it for their own selfish reasons. Fake love leads only to hate. Distorted priorities lead this nation into loving oppression and hating freedom.

This is a crime of graffiti, vandalism, expressing hate speech. How does this rise to an heinous event that requires a press conference by the state AG and the FBI? How does this event merit more attention from the crime fighting public safety agencies of the state and US government than the murder of an innocent 11-year-old girl, Celina Cass? Who creates the priorities for the police and the FBI? In MA, local and state police and the FBI target persons with disabilities. The police love to harass and to deny persons with disabilities access to protection from violent crime. Here the police mechanisms extend the powers of government to address a non violent crime. Are all of the highly paid police and special agents too fragile to work on violent crime? Is that why the AG held a press conference because there are no dangers? How pathetic. Here's one more example of what is terribly wrong with government. "How was your day dear?" "I spoke at a press conference in NH to condemn graffiti. I'm tired out thinking about such a terrible crime."
