The advertisement on the Telegram app is as chilling as it is incongruous: A girl for sale is “Virgin. Beautiful. 12 years old…. Her price has reached $12,500 and she will be sold soon.”
The posting in Arabic appeared on an encrypted conversation along with ads for kittens, weapons and tactical gear. It was shared with the Associated Press by an activist with the minority Yazidi community, whose women and children are being held as sex slaves by the extremists.
While the Islamic State group is losing territory in its self-styled caliphate, it is tightening its grip on the estimated 3,000 women and girls held as sex slaves. In a fusion of ancient barbaric practices and modern technology, IS sells the women like chattel on smartphone apps and shares databases that contain their photographs and the names of their “owners” to prevent their escape through IS checkpoints. The fighters are assassinating smugglers who rescue the captives, just as funds to buy the women out of slavery are drying up.
The thousands of Yazidi women and children were taken prisoner in August 2014, when IS fighters overran their villages in northern Iraq with the aim to eliminate the Kurdish-speaking minority because of its ancient faith. Since then, Arab and Kurdish smugglers managed to free an average of 134 people a month. But by May, an IS crackdown reduced those numbers to just 39 in the last six weeks, according to figures provided by the Kurdistan regional government.
Mirza Danai, founder of the German-Iraqi aid organization Luftbrucke Irak, said in the last two or three months, escape has become more difficult and dangerous.Modal Trigger
“They register every slave, every person under their owner, and therefore if she escapes, every Daesh control or checkpoint, or security force — they know that this girl … has escaped from this owner,” he said, using the Arabic acronym for the group.
The AP has obtained a batch of 48 head shots of the captives, smuggled out of the IS-controlled region by an escapee, which people familiar with them say are similar to those in the extremists’ slave database and the smartphone apps.
Lamiya Aji Bashar tried to flee four times before finally escaping in March, racing to government-controlled territory with Islamic State group fighters in pursuit. A land mine exploded, killing her companions, 8-year-old Almas and Katherine, 20. She never learned their last names.
The explosion left Lamiya blind in her right eye, her face scarred by melted skin. Saved by the man who smuggled her out, she counts herself among the lucky.
“I managed in the end, thanks to God, I managed to get away from those infidels,” the 18-year-told the AP from a bed at her uncle’s home in the northern Iraqi town of Baadre. “Even if I had lost both eyes, it would have been worth it, because I have survived them.”
The Sunni extremists view the Yazidis as barely human. The Yazidi faith combines elements of Islam, Christianity and Zoroastrianism, an ancient Persian religion. Their pre-war population in Iraq was estimated around 500,000. Their number today is unknown.
Nadia Mourad, an escapee, has appeared before the US Congress and the European Parliament to appeal for international help.
“Daesh is proud of what it’s done to the Yazidis,” she said to Parliament. “They are being used as human shields. They are not allowed to escape or flee. Probably they will be assassinated. Where is the world in all this? Where is humanity?”
IS relies on encrypted apps to sell the women and girls, according to an activist who is documenting the transactions and asked not to be named for fear of his safety.
[. . .]

During more than a year of being passed from one militant to another, Bashar attempted to flee many times. On her fifth attempt, in March, she finally reached fighters in a Kurdish-controlled region.

In addition to the posting for the 12-year-old in a group with hundreds of members, the AP viewed an ad on WhatsApp for a mother with a 3-year-old and a 7-month-old baby, with a price of $3,700. “She wants her owner to sell her,” read the posting, followed by a photo.
[. . .]
Like the Bible, some passages of the Quran implicitly condone slavery, which was widespread when the holy book emerged. It also allows men to have sex with both their wives and “those they possess with their right hands,” taken by interpreters to refer to female slaves.
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, most Muslim scholars backed the banning of slavery, citing Quranic verses that say freeing them is a blessing. Some hard-liners, however, continued to insist that under Shariah, sex slavery must be permitted, though the Islamic State group is the first in the modern era to bring it into organized practice.
[. . .]
The odds of rescue, however, grow slimmer by the day. The smuggling networks that have freed the captives are being targeted by IS leaders, who are fighting to keep the Yazidis at nearly any cost, said Andrew Slater of the nonprofit group Yazda, which helps document crimes against the community and organizes refuge for those who have fled.
Kurdistan’s regional government had been reimbursing impoverished Yazidi families who paid up to $15,000 in fees to smugglers to rescue their relatives, or the ransoms demanded by individual fighters to give up the captives. But the Kurdish regional government no longer has the funds. For the past year, Kurdistan has been mired in an economic crisis brought on by the collapse of oil prices, a dispute with Iraq’s central government over revenues, and the fallout from the war against the Islamic State.
Even when IS retreats from towns like Ramadi or Fallujah, the missing girls are nowhere to be found.
“Rescues are slowing. They’re going to stop. People are running out of money, I have dozens of families who are tens of thousands of dollars in debt,” Slater said. “There are still thousands of women and kids in captivity but it’s getting harder and harder to get them out.”

***
Lamiya was abducted from the village of Kocho, near the town of Sinjar, in the summer of 2014. Her parents are presumed dead. Somewhere, she said, her 9-year-old sister Mayada remains captive. One photo she managed to send to the family shows the little girl standing in front of an IS flag.
Five other sisters all managed to escape and later were relocated to Germany. A younger brother, kept for months in an IS training camp in Mosul, also slipped away and is now staying with other relatives in Dahuk, a city in the Iraqi Kurdish region.
Sitting very still and speaking in a monotone, Lamiya recounted her captivity, describing how she was passed from one IS follower to another, all of whom beat and violated her. She was determined to escape.
She said her first “owner” was an Iraqi IS commander who went by the name Abu Mansour in the city of Raqqa, the de-facto IS capital deep in Syria. He brutalized her, often keeping her handcuffed.
[. . .]
She tried to run away twice but was caught, beaten and raped repeatedly. After a month, she said, she was sold to another IS extremist in Mosul. After she spent two months with him, she was sold again, this time to an IS bomb-maker who Lamiya said forced her to help him make suicide vests and car bombs.
“I tried to escape from him,” she said. “And he captured me, too, and he beat me.”
When the bomb-maker grew bored with her, she was handed over to an IS doctor in Hawija, a small IS-controlled Iraqi town. She said the doctor, who was the IS head of the town hospital, also abused her.

When ISIS laid siege to the Yazidi villages that dot Iraq’s Mount Sinjar in 2014, members of the religious minority soon learned neighbors they’d known for generations were not their friends after all, according to one woman who was recently rescued after more than a year in the terrorist army’s clutches.
From the very first days of the August 2014 siege, the Yazidi community began to lose hope as they descended from their mountain home into a nightmare of misery and death. Muslim families they had lived side-by-side with for generations turned on them, “Zana,” a 32-year-old Yazidi woman whose freedom was purchased from ISIS in March, told FoxNews.com in a Skype interview from the Kurdish-run camp where she now lives.
"When ISIS came they said they didn’t want to fight us, they told us to give them our weapons,” Zana said. “We gave them everything we had – these were our Muslim neighbors. But so many of them had become ISIS and we didn’t know.”
In a story similar to that told by dozens of Yazidis, Zana recalled the day ISIS assaulted her village at the foot of Mount Sinjar. The elderly were summarily executed where they were found, she recalled. Men and women were separated, with older men dragged off to mosques where they were killed and females – including girls as young as 8 -- loaded onto cars and trucks bound for Mosul.
“ISIS took me, my sister, my brother’s wife and my little sister,” Zana recalled, her eyes filling with tears. “For 13 days, we were put in a school – we didn’t know what would happen. There were about 50 people – women and children – squashed into a room. There was no water for us to wash ourselves, the children were sick.”
Her nightmare was just starting.
Zana lied to her captors that she was married, thinking somehow it might spare her from their evil intentions. Her captors were unmoved, and she and dozens of others were taken to a well-guarded building in the Iraqi city of Telafar. Yazidi girls under the age of 14 were taken away to be sold at auction. The remaining women were soon introduced to ISIS fighters and told they were now their property and would accompany them to Syria.
ISIS justifies killing, raping and enslaving Yazidis by calling them “devil worshippers,” as their very ancient religion blends elements from all the Abrahamic faiths. Yazidi are ethnically Kurds, but follow a pre-Islamic faith. Of the 500,000 Yazidi in Iraq, more than 200,000 have been displaced or killed since the rise of ISIS, according to the United Nations.
Zana told FoxNews.com she managed to escape her quarters in the dead of the night, and related how she knocked on a stranger’s door to beg for help.
“I asked them, ‘Please give me a phone to call my relatives, I don’t need anything from you. I just want to call my relatives,’” she said.
The family refused to help her contact relatives, but made her work in their home for nearly a week, she said. Then, they turned her back over to her tormentors, she said.
“They called and said, ‘There is a girl who wants to escape, she is with us, come and take her,’” Zana said. “So ISIS came. And I cried.”
Her angry captors put her in a prison cell while an investigation was conducted into how she was able to escape. Days later, she was transferred to another facility in Telafar and forced to convert to Islam under threat of death, she said. She witnessed a dozen fellow Yazidi captives’ executions, punishment for their own escape attempts, she said.
Zana and another woman were given to a jihadist and sent to live with him in the ISIS stronghold of Mosul.
“He took me to his place, they were flats. Small tourist flats. It was a tourist community,” Zana said, her eyes cast down.
It was there, Zana said, that she was raped for the first time. For the next five months, she remained inside Mosul, handed off to another militant who locked her in a small room.
“I cooked for him, I washed his clothes, and I cleaned the house. I did everything,” Zana said. “But he became very aggressive if I didn’t do something just as wanted, and he would attack me.
“I told him that they might be killing our people now, but one day we will get to take our revenge,” she said.
In the ensuing months, Zana was passed along by a string of ISIS fighters from different Arab countries, and shuffled from city to city, including the ISIS capital of Raqqa, Syria. When she was sent to Iraq’s Anbar Province, west of Baghdad, she managed to lock eyes with a civilian woman.
“I whispered my number to her and said, ‘Please call me family,’” Zana recounted. “She told me not to worry. They knew a guy who could help rescue me.”
But rescue missions don’t come cheap, as rescuers often need to pay off local tribesmen or hatch elaborate plans to buy girls back from their captors. Scores of Yazidi families have gone into tremendous debt selling what little they have to liberate their stolen loved ones, but have received some assistance from the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in the northern part of Iraq.
In Zana’s case, thousands of dollars were scrambled together and she was “bought” by a rescuer known to her family. On March 22, 2016, she was freed.
Now living in a sprawling camp for displaced Yazidi in the northern Iraq city of Duhok, which is part of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government, Zana feels the pain of loss and the scars of her ordeal. Both of her parents died at the hands of ISIS and her sisters were taken.
“It’s a tough situation,” she said. “But I’m still here.”

New York City Man Freed After 25 Years in Prison For Murder

Johnny Hincapie sobs after a judge says he will be freed from jail following a 25-year term. Photo: Steven Hirsch
[From article]

A man who spent the past 25 years in prison for the infamous 1990 subway slaying of young Utah tourist Brian Watkins has his conviction tossed Tuesday.
Johnny Hincapie, 45, sobbed as his family in the Manhattan Supreme Court gallery cheered at Justice Eduardo Pedro’s decision.
At a hearing earlier this year, Hincapie testified that he was beaten by cops and forced to sign a false confession. He was one of seven men found guilty in the sensational case. “The court does find that the defense has born their burden of proof” in terms of justifying a new trial, Padro said. “The court is going to set aside the verdict at this time. The court is going to order a new trial on these grounds.”
Hincapie’s lawyer, Ron Kuby, asked the judge to release his client without bail.
“Should Mr. Hincapie face a jury again, there is a reasonable likelihood he’ll walk out a free man,” the lawyer said.
The judge set bail at $1. The necessary paperwork was still being prepared Tuesday afternoon.
Watkins was stabbed in the heart as he tried to protect his parents from a gang of subway muggers.
The 22-year-old man and his family had just returned from the US Open when he was killed.
[. . .]

The horrific slaying galvanized the city, with an iconic New York Post front page imploring then-Mayor David Dinkins: “Dave, Do Something!”

At his previous hearing this year, Hincapie insisted through sobs that he wasn’t even on the subway platform where the killing occurred.
A surprise defense witness who read about the hearing in The Post also came forward and may have been instrumental in swaying the judge.
Mariluz Santana, 45, of Flushing saw the rowdy teens as they surrounded the Watkins family and attacked them, she testified. She knew Hincapie as an acquaintance from their neighborhood and insisted he was not among the group.
The gang robbed the family for money to get into Roseland Ballroom, where Hincapie and Santana were headed for a night of dancing. Hincapie was only 18 at the time of the murder.

Relatives of Citizens Murdered By Illegal Aliens Testify Before Congress

Laura Wilkerson, Mother of Josh, 18, Killed By Illegal Alien

[From article]
Apparently neither Mr. Todd nor his research staff ever thought to look up the government’s own 2011 report on criminal alien activity, published by the Government Accountability Office.
[. . .]
The 2011 U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report documents crimes committed by foreign alien nationals inside the United States. It counts as an alien any immigrant who has not been “naturalized” – that is, any alien who has applied for and been conferred with citizenship after being brought into the United States from their home country. Therefore, even this report would not include the criminal offenses of the millions of immigrants inside the U.S. who have converted their green cards into citizenship papers, about 19.3 million. So, for instance, the elder Boston Bomber, the recent Chattanooga Shooter, and other immigrant terrorists naturalized by the federal government would be counted by the government as citizen crimes, not alien crimes.
The report tallies approximately 3 million arrest offenses attached to the incarcerated criminal alien population. Of these offenses, half a million were drug related, 70,000 were sexual offenses, 213,000 were for assault, 125,000 were for larceny/theft, and 25,000 were for homicides. Based on the GAO’s sample of criminal aliens, they estimated that their study population of 249,000 criminal aliens was arrested about 1.7 million times, averaging about 7 arrests per criminal alien.
By definition, not one one of these crimes would have occurred absent the immigrant who committed it
[. . .]
In 2008, Heather Mac Donald wrote:
California, with one-quarter of the nation’s immigrants and its greatest concentration of Mexicans and Central Americans, is the bellwether state for all things relating to unbridled Hispanic immigration, including crime. The Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Study, conducted by sociologists Alejandro Portes of Princeton and RubĂ©n G. Rumbaut of the University of California, Irvine, followed the children of immigrants in San Diego and Miami from 1992 to 2003. A whopping 28 percent of Mexican-American males between the ages of 18 and 24 reported having been arrested since 1995, and 20 percent reported having been incarcerated—a rate twice that of other immigrant groups. Anyone who speaks to Hispanic students in immigrant-saturated schools in Southern California will invariably hear the estimate that 50 percent of a student’s peers have ended up in gangs or other criminal activities.
[. . .]
A 2006 article from the LA Times, which cites LAPD chief William Bratton, reported:
The numbers reveal a wide racial divide regarding violent crime.
Blacks make up about 11% of the city’s population but account for 38% of all homicide victims and 29% of suspects, according to the statistics. By contrast, whites make up 30% of the population but account for just 6% of homicide victims and 2% of suspects. Latinos make up 47% of the population and constitute 50% of homicide victims and 66% of suspects.
Ann Coulter has repeatedly made a broader point not addressed by Mr. Todd on his program — that the proper number of crimes we should be satisfied with immigrants committing is zero yet, instead, we bring in millions of immigrants “from countries with far worse crime rates than our own.”

“This was our family’s 9/11 terrorist attack by a foreign invader,” she said at the most pivotal point in her testimony. “It is going to take another life lost by a Senator, a Congressman, the President, even another of today’s heroes, someone from Hollywood before someone in a position moves on this.”
“My son’s name was Joshua Wilkerson,” she began. “On November 16, 2010, he was beaten, strangled, tortured until he died. He was tied up, thrown in a field, and set on fire. His killer, Hermilo Moralez, was brought here illegally by his illegal parents when he was ten years old, so he fit the ‘DREAM’ kid description. He was sentenced to life in prison, which means it will be 30 years before he’s up for parole. He’ll be a 49-year-old man, who I don’t expect to be deported. And I just hope he doesn’t come to live in your city.”
Ms. Wilkerson’s son was murder by an illegal immigrant who, because he came to the country as a minor, would have qualified for Obama’s 2012 executive amnesty granted to illegal immigrant minors — or so-called DREAMers, whom Obama insists “belong here.”
[. . .]
“This was our family’s 9/11 terrorist attack by a foreign invader, whether you want to recognize it or whether you do not,” Wilkerson said. “This government continues to fail or even recognize that we have an issue. Americans are dying daily at the hands of criminals that we don’t even know are here.”
“You’re officially notified today there’s a problem when this happens. You can’t deny it any longer. You cannot you cannot stand by and ignore our families — our American families. You’re elected by Americans, not any other country. You should be for Americans,” she emphasized. “If you want to sit quietly on the sidelines, you’ve thrown your hat into the ring already. Your silence speaks volumes. You’re either for Americans, or you’re not.
“I will not give up another one of my children so that a foreign person can have a nicer life. I’m not going to do it. You don’t understand the pain. It’s so deep in the soul — in the place you don’t even recognize you have. There aren’t words to describe the pain to someone who has not gone through it. I’m not giving up another kid,” she said.
Wilkerson then issued a blistering attack on sanctuary city policies that provide safe harbor and anonymity for dangerous, criminal aliens who are living illegally in the United States. She said:
Sanctuary city policies scream to the criminal element of illegals in this country: ‘Come to our town USA, we’ll protect you from our terrible policemen. We’ll protect you from these tough American laws, that you — because you had a hard life — are not able to go through the same motion that an American is.’ It is going to take another life lost by a Senator, a Congressman, the President, even another of today’s heroes, someone from Hollywood before someone in a position moves on this. I urge you: you are in a position to do something about this for Americans.
“I thank you, Mr. Trump for getting a message out about the nation in two minutes… that countless families like my own have been trying to say for five to six years. It feels good to be heard whether you love him, or whether you don’t, I felt heard.”
[. . .]
Illegal aliens aren’t living in the shadows, she added; they boldly break our laws and demand taxpayer freebies. She went on:
They’re not scared to come here. We’re inviting them. Sanctuary cities says, ‘Come on down.’ Sympathy has never trumped the law in this country. Ever. Everyone of them here threaten national security because we don’t know who they are. They make a decision to come here. They’re not scared, and they’re invited by sanctuary city policies. They aren’t scared to wait in line for a hand-out that every American citizen has paid into the system for our children if need be. They mistrust police because they come from countries that mistrust police. They’re not scared here.
I want you to know that our family is broken, forever. We are forever broken. I don’t want the sympathy. I want you to do something about it.

Testimony of Laura Wilkerson, Mother Of 18 Year-Old Killed By Illegal Immigrant

Her husband, Sacramento County sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver, was killed last October

[From article]
Danny Oliver, 47, was killed Oct. 24, 2014, at a Motel 6 parking lot near Arden Way. Authorities say Luis Enriquez Monroy Bracamontes, who was in the U.S. illegally, killed Oliver at the start of a regionwide crime spree in which he also killed Placer County sheriff’s Detective Michael Davis Jr. and wounded several others. Bracamontes faces the death penalty.
Susan Oliver said her husband, a father of two and 15-year department veteran, loved his job working in the problem-oriented policing program, known as POP.
“The last thing my husband attempted to do as a POP officer was to ask the man inside the car how his day was going,” Oliver said. “But he never made it to the driver’s window.”

Don Rosenberg, whose son was killed by an illegal immigrant in a drunken driving incident, but who was not on the witness panel, stepped forward and scolded sanctuary city defenders.
“How dare you!” he said in remarks that appeared to be addressed to the Rev. Gabriel Salguero, pastor of Lamb’s Church of the Nazarene in New York City, who defended sanctuary policies.
[. . .]
The hearing highlighted a shift in the immigration debate. Over the last few years, immigrant rights advocates have essentially won the public debate, focusing on sympathetic illegal immigrants, and so-called Dreamers in particular, who have made good on their chances of a better life in the U.S.
But enforcement supporters had argued that gave a one-sided portrayal of the issue and insisted illegal immigration wasn’t a victimless crime. Tuesday’s hearing put an exclamation point on those claims.
“I want you to be angry that America’s borders are wide open. America does not know who is in this country. It is time to put Americans first,” Ms. Wilkerson said. “Close the borders, figure out who is really here. Keep statistics. Realize that we are at war right here in this country.”
[. . .]
Mr. Grassley also prodded Mr. Rodriguez over Mr. Obama’s 2012 tentative deportation amnesty, and one case in particular, where an illegal immigrant granted amnesty was later accused of four murders in North Carolina. Mr. Rodriguez has admitted the man had gang ties that should have prevented him from being approved for the amnesty.
But when Mr. Grassley demanded to know who had been fired over the incident, Mr. Rodriguez said nobody had been cut loose. Instead, he said, employees had been “counseled” on how to apply the amnesty so gang members don’t get approved. He also said his agency had rechecked hundreds of thousands of amnesty recipients to weed out other gang members.

Sheikh Mohamed Kariye, in a file photo, leaves the U.S. Court of Appeals in Portland after oral arguments on the ACLU no-fly list lawsuit.

[From article]
The FBI acknowledged Monday that a joint investigation by its agents and those of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement prompted the government's move on Monday to revoke the citizenship of the imam of Portland's biggest mosque.
"The U.S. Department of Justice is pursuing Mr. (Mohamed Sheikh Abdirahman) Kariye'sdenaturalization based on his illegal procurement of naturalization; specifically, Mr. Kariye obtained his U.S. citizenship by providing false information and willful misrepresentation and concealment of material facts including his criminal history and failed to establish that he was a person of good moral character during the requisite statutory period," the FBI wrote in a news statement. "Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, no further information is available at this time."
[. . .]
The Associated Press broke the story, based on a 34-page civil petition, which accuses Kariye of failing to tell immigration officials that he raised money, recruited fighters and provided training for insurgents battling the Soviet military in its 1980s war in Afghanistan.
The U.S. backed those mujahideen fighters in a proxy war against the Soviet Union, helping to topple the financially crippled superpower and end the Cold War.
Monday's petition suggests that Kariye for a time had direct dealings with Osama bin Laden, who later came to head al-Qaida, along with a precursor terrorist organization known as Maktab Al-Khidamat. The government alleges that Kariye did not list those affiliations in his application for citizenship.
An associate of Kariye, reached at a post-Ramadan celebration, said the imam had not yet read the government's petition.
Kariye, whose father was one of Somalia's most popular imams, is leader of Masjed As-Saber in Southwest Portland.

Technology Enabling Memory Implants Will Bring Interesting Consequences

[From article]
The holiday of the future will still provide memories of strolls along sunny beaches, the sensation of sand between your toes and the peaceful rush of the ocean, but there will be one crucial difference.
You won't have ever actually been away - in fact you might not have even left your home.
Instead, people will download memories to their brains to make them feel as if they have been on a sun-kissed holiday.
That’s just one of the many realities we could face as we learn to manipulate the human mind, US physicist Dr Michio Kaku told MailOnline in an exclusive interview.
[. . .]
First of all, someone goes on vacation before you, and pleasant memories such as walking on the seashore and picking up rocks are put on a disc,’ Dr Kaku told MailOnline.
‘Then they're uploaded into your own mind; relax, and there you are at the beach.
‘Feel the wind at your face, hear the sound of the waves, all the sensations – you’ll have a memory of a very nice walk on the beach in some exotic location, that’s what this person before you felt.
‘These things are within the realms of possibility – it’s only a matter of time.’
[. . .]
As Dr Kaku points out, we have learned more about the brain in the last 15 years than we have in the rest of human history.
And crucially, our knowledge of the map of neural connections in the brain, known as the connectome, is rapidly improving.
This is thanks to machines such as MRI scanners that can see which parts of the brain light up as a person performs different activities.
[. . .]
On telepathy, Dr Kaku says we can already take someone who’s totally paralysed, hook them up to a computer, and allow them to send messages on the internet.
In the future, you could ‘walk into a room, mentally turn on the lights, internet, answer emails, call up for a movie. Indeed the computer mouse will gradually be phased out.
This will be made possible thanks to programmable matter – the dream of creating tiny little dust particles with the power of a PC, known as catoms, that can change their electric charge and be rearranged – all by our minds.
[. . .]
Advancements in brain manipulation have important moral implications in the future, too, according to Dr Kaku.
‘[You could] fire a gun and record that, and insert it into an innocent person’s brain so he thinks he fired a gun when he didn’t.’
Dr Kaku says it will be entirely possible that we will one day be able to upload entire skills into a person's brain.
To become a doctor, for instance, someone could have all the relevant medical terminology and procedures uploaded into their mind.

Innocent people can be fooled into believing they have carried out a violent crime that never took place, a study has revealed.
Psychologists found that during just three hours of interviews, adults could be convinced they had perpetrated a theft, an assault, or even attacked somebody with a weapon when they were a teenager.
People can be fooled into believing they have carried out a violent crime that never took place
Using suggestive memory-retrieval techniques, the researchers were able to trick 70 per cent of the participants into believing they had committed an offence.
The effect was so strong that the participants ended up providing detailed descriptions of things that had never actually taken place

Will holidays soon be uploaded to our MINDS? Dr Michio Kaku reveals how we could use our brains in the next 50 years
US physicist Dr Michio Kaku was speaking exclusively to MailOnline
He revealed his theories on how we may control our brains in the future
Include implanting 'memories' to make us think we've been on holiday
Could also send our minds to distant worlds to control surrogate robots
We'll be able to manipulate our surroundings with 'programmable matter'
Creature from the another world would think that we were 'sorcerers'

Grand Jury Witness Explains Events in Ferguson MO Shooting

[From article]
Brown had his arms at his sides during at least one phase of his confrontation with officer Wilson, but he never raised his hands over his head at any point, according to the witness. Brown continued to approach Wilson against police orders and stood about 20 to 25 feet away from the officer when he was fatally shot, the witness said.

[From article]
An eyewitness who saw the killing of Michael Brown at the hands of officer Darren Wilson has revealed his version of events leading up to the fatal shooting.
The man, whose name has been withheld, from St. Louis, Missouri, says that the teenager did not have his hands above his head when Wilson shot at him, but rather 'out to his sides.'
He also said Brown 'staggered toward Wilson despite commands to stop' and that 'the two were about 20 to 25 feet apart when the last shots were fired.'
[. . .]
Another critical piece the man shared was that the officer did not fire until Brown turned back toward him.
He says that Brown and his friend were walking down the middle of the street when Wilson pulled up to them and they exchanged some words, which he could not hear.
Wilson then pulled up in front of the boys and then backed up his car, when a 'tussle' occurred on the passenger side which the witness could not see.
Then a shot was fired - he does not say whether or not is was intentional - and he saw Brown run down the street, followed by Wilson, who was yelling at the 18-year-old to 'Stop!'
The young man Brown was with, Dorian Johnson, ran the other way according to the witness.
Then, after being told to stop a few more times, Brown turned around and took a step towards Wilson.

Bureaucrats Need Training To Conceal What They Do

[From article]
Leslie Paige, spokeswoman for Citizens Against Government Waste, said if officials were doing their jobs correctly, the money wouldn’t be needed.
“All they have to do is sit there at a microphone, read their testimony and answer questions truthfully, honestly and thoroughly and explain to the American people what they’re doing,” Ms. Paige said.
“It’s not ‘The Charlie Rose Show’; it’s not ‘The View,’” she said. “It is congressional testimony. So just cough up the facts, because that’s all we really need from you.”
Documents show the contract also includes a separate ambassadorial seminar “for building effective relationships with members of Congress and their staffers.”
