After California’s Girl Scout Troop 5215 sold an alleged $65,000 worth of cookies at the 2016 Academy Awards, that money is reportedly nowhere to be found, the local organization says. Celebrities in the audience bought a variety of cookies, but TMZ reports that the local chapter—which would only get about $1,000 of the money—hasn’t seen a cent. The National Girl Scout Council told the troop that the Academy would donate the money to the Greater L.A. Council, but that allegedly hasn’t happened. A representative for Girl Scouts of America told reporters: “The donation process is determined by local councils.”

The Oscars or the Girl Scouts -- or some mystery benefactor ... is hanging 28 little girls out to dry -- after swearing Chris Rock's bit earned $65k ... we've learned the money is nowhere to be found.
You'll recall Rock and the Oscars got Inglewood, CA's Girl Scouts Troop 5215 to work the crowd of celebs, hawking Thin Mints, Tagalongs and more. Near the end of the show, Chris said they raised $65k.
But Latoya Edwards, whose daughter is in Troop 5215 tells TMZ someone's screwing them over. She claims the National Girl Scout Council informed them the Academy would be donating the $65k to the Greater L.A. Council ... but that hasn't happened, and the Academy isn't returning calls.
Mind you, Troop 5215 isn't getting rich quick. Edwards says due to nonprofit rules her local chapter would only get $1,000 of that money, but her bigger concern is her scouts are getting used in a public relations lie.

Sweden just woke up. (Sort of.) Per a report at the Washington Post, Sweden has closed her doors to migrants. (Sort of.) Unfortunately, better-late-than-never may not apply in this case.

Why doesn’t the world spring into action against Islamic supremacy as Christians, Jews, Hindus and other non-Muslims are beheaded, crucified, enslaved, tortured, burned alive, drowned, knifed, shot, raped, and crushed, among other unthinkable forms of evil? The urge to embrace the Muslim victim while ignoring the Muslim supremacist is as self-destructive as it gets.

As for Sweden’s pride in “doing the right thing,” [. . .] Apparently national “pride” is dead and “doing the right thing” excludes self-preservation. As for the “unmistakable signal” to invaders to stay out, wouldn’t border security be more effective? Then again, in our brave new world border security has taken on an aura of some wild and crazy notion that only a lunatic would entertain.

And then there are the newly implemented ID checks. It’s a bit late to begin checking ID don’t you think? And also a bit pointless since so many have forged documents.
Alas, apparently this is all do-the-right-thing Sweden can muster. Not only are these efforts weaker than they should be, but those in positions of authority still don’t seem to understand the nature of the threat.

The nation is approaching this from a sustainability viewpoint with respect to its ability to care for invaders instead of facing the reality of how these colonizers will transform their civilized society into something unrecognizable. The country is already far along that deadly road. When one in four Swedish women will be raped and the vast majority of those rapists are Muslim men, when life for Jews is reverting back to a time in Europe’s history when Hitler rose to power, and when Swedes know they’re on their own with little-to-no government protection against marauding Muslims driving crime rates through the roof, Sweden is no longer what it once was. Instead, it is a nation that is becoming Islamicized.

How about the fact that the nation is breaking down? Once again we see Sweden assessing her ability to care for invaders rather than confronting the cultural impact of importing hordes of Muslims from the Islamic world.

Despite their embrace of political correctness, the Swedes are at heart very decent, humane people, their main faults being a desire to please others in their community (which leads to silencing dissent and conformity) and self-righteous hypocrisy. But these are minor blemishes considering the personal decency most people center their lives on.
Taking advantage of Sweden’s generosity, Muslim immigrants have been arriving in large numbers and, in recent months, catastrophically overwhelming the country’s budget and facilities to house and feed them.

A new music video is telling the story of a woman who became a victim of sex trafficking in order to bring awareness to not just the emotional scars, but the physical ones that are left on women who have been sold into sexual slavery.
Jennifer Kempton, from Columbus, Ohio, was sold to a dope gang as a young woman for drugs and money by a man she believed was the love of her life. She was branded with a tattoo, used and abused, but now, as a free woman, her story is serving as inspiration for others as the subject of a heart-wrenching video by British Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Scott McFarnon.
The video for his latest release Crazy Heart, directed by Floyd Russ, begins with a shocking statistic: 'Every 30 seconds another person becomes a victim of human trafficking'.

Based on Jennifer's true story, which actors recreate for the video, the beginning of the four-minute clip shows a woman in an abusive relationship, being beat down in the street by her lover and frequently getting high on drugs.
On her neck, she has a tattoo bearing the words: 'Property of Jarred'.
Next, the boyfriend takes 'Jennifer' to a house where they meet two men, one of whom hands him a wad of bills as the woman looks on, confused.
As the lover moves to leave, the woman follows, but is instead snatched up by the man who, it seems, has just bought her.

She is drugged and thrown down onto a thin foam pad before receiving yet another tattoo brand, this time on her stomach.
The following scenes show the young woman selling herself on the street to men in cars, being thrown against a fence by a customer in an alleyway, crying in a darkened room and frantically rubbing drugs into her gums.
For Jennifer, it was six years before she found her freedom and, when she finally forced her way out of the life of brutal violence and abuse that she had been trapped in for so long, one of the first things she did was to walk into a tattoo parlor to have the branding on her neck - the name of the gang who enslaved her, 'King Munch' - changed into flower.

'And after enduring this, being raped and beaten and abused, and after getting clean of my addiction, every time I took a shower or tried to look at my body I was reminded of the violence and exploitation I’d suffered,' she added, saying that the sight of them flung her into depression.
'You begin to wonder whether you’ll ever be anything but the person those tattoos say you are.'
According to 36-year-old Scott, the idea for the video came after a discussion about tattoos and 'the current trends around them'.
'We came across the fact that tattoos can be devastating for people and are frequently used to brand victims of human trafficking and we decided that it was important to bring attention to the amazing work Jennifer is doing in Ohio,' he said.

That work is Survivor's Ink, the charity that Jennifer later founded, which aims to help survivors of sex trafficking obtain cover-up tattoos to replace their slave branding.

Scrutinizing The Immigration Debate

The Refugee Crisis™ debate is framed as a battle between compassionate liberals responding to desperate pleas and coin-counting, callous, conservative reactionaries. But charitable motives animate the Left little, if at all. Liberals are notoriously tightfisted with (their own) charitable dollars; even more to the point, when a shipload of Jews fleeing Nazi persecution wanted safe haven in the US, leftist icon FDR turned it away. It’s one of those curious coincidences in history that the Left’s attitude toward refugees changed precisely when leftists discovered they could import voters who would empower them.
And does attaching something as a rider — citizenship — to charity aid the cause of charity? Are people more or less likely to offer charity to a person if the act begins and ends with charity, or if they must grant the individual some decision-making power in their home as well? That’s a package deal only a masochist could love.
So there’s an easy way to uncover liberals’ true motivations and whether they’re serious about charity for refugees. Make a simple offer: you’ll give bona fide refugees safe haven, and you’ll do your best to ensure they’re treated well. But there’s no citizenship. Ever. And they’ll be expected to eventually return to their homelands. See if the leftists bite…anything but your extended hand.

On the one hand, liberals sometimes point out that despite doom-and-gloom prognostication, we live in the most “peaceful era in human history.” And they cite statistics backing up the assertion. On the other, they claim we must suddenly accommodate endless troves of “refugees” fleeing persecution.

We’re told that prosperous countries have a moral responsibility to the world’s poorer nations. So why then are wealthy Asian Tigers never asked to absorb any “refugees”? Japan, in fact, has virtually no immigration whatsoever despite having an extremely low birthrate and shrinking population. Moreover, since many refugees are Muslim, why aren’t Saudi Arabia, Qatar, The United Arab Emirates and the other oil-rich Arab nations taking them in? Wouldn’t it seem a natural fit? (Then they could stop importing the Filipinos and others they use for domestic help.) Maybe they know something we don’t.

There undoubtedly are people in this world facing serious persecution. As to this, the West in general and the Obama administration in particular have done nothing to aid, for instance, the Christians being slaughtered in Muslim lands.

(Jason Ruiz for the Long Beach Post says it's used about 6 million gallons and The Grist... doesn't reach an estimate.) The ubiquity of the videos has even led to satirical posts about California fining those participating in the challenge.
"Fresh water is one of our nation's most precious resources," Jim Gulliford, executive director of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, told The Wire in an email interview. "It is a resource that should never be undervalued or wasted. This becomes even more important when areas of our country are suffering from drought."
