New York City Police Officer Andre Clarke was credited with fatally shooting a man who was holding a gun to the head of an undercover detective in a packed Brooklyn nightclub in March 2007.
Wednesday, Clarke was in a Vermont courtroom to face a charge of being part of a major conspiracy to distribute oxycodone by selling the opiate-based painkiller to addicts in the Burlington area.

A veteran NYPD cop who was charged with selling Oxycodone pills as part of a Vermont drug ring was released on $200,000 bail Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court.
Andrea Clarke was arrested after leaving his shift at the NYPD Quartermaster Section in Queens on Monday and hit with drug raps by Vermont federal prosecutors, according to court papers.
The hulking cop made his initial appearance in Brooklyn but has a court date in Vermont on Wednesday.
Clarke, 36, allegedly sold the painkiller from 2011 through June 2014.
