Watertown MA Shootout, One Marathon Suspect Captured, MIT Officer Killed

WBZ-TV reports that Billerica police and Arlington police are also in Watertown. They say that Boston Globe reports that one suspect from the Marathon bombing is in custody. Cambridge, Belmont, Everett, Lincoln, Lexington, Brookline, MA state police, Metro SWAT, Cambridge bomb squad, Transit (MBTA) police, and Boston police, Cambridge Fire, all have marked patrol cars on the scene. I saw one man with "Military Police" written on his jacket. MPs? Another with "DEA." And "US Marshals." State police helicopter is hovering above the scene in Watertown. There is at least one military vehicle on the scene with uniformed troops, wearing fatigues. Watching live broadcast on WHDH-TV. They showed one gunman lying on the street with police pointing guns at him. ATF, Boston police are on scene in Watertown. WCVB-TV reported that Homeland Security is participating in the police action in Watertown. At about 12:45 AM Friday April 19, 2013 six emergency vehicles passed my window along Broadway Cambridge coming from MIT/Kendall Square toward Harvard Square. WCVB-TV reports a shooting in Watertown and one person shot with police pointing weapons at him. Ambulances are in Watertown with a report of one shooter shooting out of his SUV window. Reports of the location at Laurel Street and Dexter Avenue in Watertown MA. There is also a report of a car jacking on Memorial Drive in Cambridge earlier.
WHDH-TV reported that the District Attorney says the MIT officer was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at Mass General Hospital. They report there was a disturbance at the site where the officer was shot, responding to a report of a suspicious package. Update on shooter incident. Responding agencies continue to investigate the situation. The scene is outside of Building 32 (Stata) and 76 (Koch) near Vassar and Main Streets. Injuries have been reported. The situation is still very active and we ask everyone to stay inside.

At 10:48 PM today gunshots were reported near Building 32 (Stata) which is currently surrounded by responding agencies. The area is cordoned off. Please stay clear of area until further notice. Unknown if injuries have occurred.. Although the situation is considered active and extremely dangerous, an investigation is underway. Updates will be provided at this site when more information becomes available.
