Teen Age Values Rule America
The patterns of shocking parental behavior encouraging youth sexuality is part of a half century of isolation of teenagers from family control, and abdication of parental authority. Diane West (The Death of the Grown-Up, St. Martin's Press, 2007) explains much of this began in the 1950s, not the 1960s as popular culture suggests. Youth no longer wants to adopt adult behavior. Adults adopt youth behavior and values. She makes the case for the opposite of what Parents TV Council says.

"This is all about money. Common sense and reasonable morality died in the mainstream media 15 years ago. It's pathetic."
