An armed, disgruntled employee of a Texas Walmart took two people hostage inside the superstore Tuesday morning before he was shot and killed by a SWAT team, police said.
Authorities responded to an “active shooter” situation with possible hostages at a Walmart in Amarillo, TX on Interstate 27 and Georgia Street at around 11 a.m. local time, officials said.
About two hours later, officers with the Amarillo Police Department shot and killed the gunman, identified as 54-year-old Mohammad Moghaddam, police said.
Police found two uninjured hostages with the gunman inside the chain store.
The Amarillo Police Department tweeted that the gunman was “shot by APD SWAT and is…dead. Hostages inside are safe.”
No one else was injured or killed besides Moghaddam.
Cops said there was a previous “work-related dispute” between Moghaddam and his manager who was one of the two hostages.
The official Twitter account for the city of Amarillo warned people to “avoid” the Walmart as the incident unfolded.
Witnesses told ABC 7 Amarillo that the shooter was an employee that took a colleague hostage, the news channel reported.
“As soon as we heard about the situation at our store in Amarillo, Texas, we acted immediately,” Walmart said in a statement.
“All customers and our two associates who were held hostage are safe. This was a very difficult situation and we are thankful for the quick response from law enforcement,” the statement read.

Mohammad Moghaddam, 54, Walmart employee shot Dead by Police

[From article]
The gunman shot dead by police inside a Walmart in Texas has been identified as an employee at the store who had a work-related dispute with one of the people he took hostage.
Mhammad Moghaddam, 54, took two people hostage, including a manager with whom he had a work-related dispute, at the store in Amarillo, police said.
He was shot dead by SWAT team members on Tuesday afternoon, the Amarillo Police Department said. The two hostages were released and are not injured.
Police said their initial investigation indicates that there was a dispute between Moghaddam and management over a promotion.
Officers were dispatched to the Walmart at I-27 and Georgia Street on Canyon Drive on an active shooter call at 11.06am, the Amarillo Police Department said.
They determined that the suspect entered the store and fired at least one shot toward the ceiling.
The initial report to police said that he had taken a hostage and gone into an office at the back of the store.
Responding officers from multiple agencies arrived at the store and entered. Police confirmed that the suspect fired no further shots after the first one.
The SWAT continued a search of the store for the gunman, who had barricaded himself into the office.
At around 12.20pm, SWAT officers saw a person who they believed to be the only hostage come out of the office. Upon entering the room, they saw the second hostage.
‘The suspect was still armed with a handgun and was a threat to the hostage and the officers,’ a police spokesman said.
The officers fired shots, which hit the suspect. Police say he died immediately.
Both hostages were escorted to safety and examined by paramedics. Neither was injured.
Amarillo police officers, sheriff's deputies from Randall and Potter Counties, as well as Texas highway patrolmen were on the scene, officials said.
SWAT teams and bomb robots were also present. The store is closed as authorities continue their investigation.
APD’s Special Crimes Unit is handling the investigation as it is an officer-involved shooting, the department said.
Investigators have not determined how many shots were fired.
The two SWAT officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol.
‘There is no indication that this had anything to do with terrorism or the shooting that happened over the weekend in Orlando,’ a statement from the Amarillo Police Department said.

Two Policemen Shot at Arizona Walmart, Suspect Shot Dead

[From article]
Two officers were shot after being called to remove a trespasser from a Chandler, Arizona, Walmart Saturday morning.
The officers are in stable condition, although one is in surgery but expected to recover.
The suspect is dead, authorities said.
Police were called around 6.30am regarding a trespasser at the store, said Chandler police spokesman Seth Tyler.
The officers encountered the unidentified male suspect at the front of the store, just past the greeters' area.
According to witnesses, the first officer entered the store and was fired upon immediately by the suspect, Tyler said.
The second officer, who was in close proximity, was also shot but was able to return fire.
It is uncertain if the first officer discharged his weapon. Both were wearing bulletproof vests.
'I guess you can call it what you want. It sounds like an ambush to me,' Tyler said.
The Walmart Supercenter was open for business at the time but is now closed.
Cynthia Ayala was on the other side of the store in a dressing room when she heard the gunfire but didn't at first realize what she heard.

'I thought it was like pallets falling. I never thought it would be gunshots,' Ayala said.
She said the shots came one after another and then it became apparent they were bullets.
'I was just really scared as to where they would fall,' Ayala said.
She came out of the dressing room when things calmed down. She said employees then escorted her and other shoppers to the store's garden center.

If The Math Don't Work, Repeal It, So We Can Find Out What Is Happening

[From article]
No sooner had the president charged that those who claimed the economy is in trouble were “peddling fiction” than U.S. stocks posted their worst ten-day start to a year in history. Walmart announced it was closing 154 stores in the U.S. putting 10,000 U.S. jobs on the block. [. . .] Macy’s announced it was closing 36 stores and 27 Kmart and Sears stores were also to be shuttered. [. . .] Consumers simply are running out of money to buy things.
To be sure, the global economy is shaky right now.[. . .] the global recession looks to be more severe than the last one.
1.[. . .] a lot of municipalities and states are already a lot more stressed than they were in 08 and U.S. gov[ernment] debt is much higher.
[. . .]
4. Policy makers and central bankers seem even more clueless than ever after having embarked on an even larger worldwide binge to cure the hangover, [. . .] from their last binge.
[. . .]

Amid all the factors behind the tailspin of our and the world’s economies it is obvious that the grand progressive schemes based -- as they certainly are -- on ignoring reality play a critical part. [. . .] Walmart, [. . .] responding to demands to raise the minimum wage, [. . .] raised wages above the minimum. Critics of raising the minimum wage argued that that would raise prices, negatively affect sales and reduce employment rolls. It seems that it did.
In economic terms, we are in the worst possible situation: politicians and bureaucrats with no respect for reality support programs which depend on an ever increasing supply of other peoples’ money at a time when there isn’t such money to be had [. . .]
Reason sets out the dilemma succinctly:
Sanders has built his popularity almost exclusively on promises to spend more money [. . .] Sanders hasn't been specific about where the money would come from, [. . .] his plans require massive tax hikes not just on the rich but on the middle class, meaning his efforts at offering everyone an education could not only increase inequality [. . .] but also actually redistribute wealth upward.
[. . .]

Puerto Rico is this week’s U.S. basket case with $70 billion in debt for which they have no means of repaying. Other states with unfunded enormous pension liabilities look to be lining up behind Puerto Rico [. . .] On a national scale, People (sic) who could add warned that ObamaCare would collapse with expenditures quickly exceeding revenue, and there’s no doubt that the death spiral is well underway.
This week Humana joined the list of insurers reporting big problems with Obamacare. PJ Media’s Stephen Green Commented:
As for the ObamaCare!!! cheaters -- well, it's not like the Democrats who authored this law weren't given plenty of warnings about the perverse incentives.
The net result is that more and more insurers can't afford to sell insurance to ObamaCare!!! customers -- the very people the law was ostensibly designed to help:
[. . .]
"'We expect Humana will exit Health Insurance Exchange marketplaces in 2017 in light of this data.'"
This thing is coming off the rails, and a LOT of people are going to get crushed when it does.
Mere glitches to the innumerate progressives. I don’t know what they are up to where you live, but in Washington D.C. they are proposing a massive new paid 16-week family leave program which it is estimated could cost over $700 million a year. [. . .] In any event, it is most likely that if this passes, employers will hire fewer people and pay them less to compensate for the cost. Once again the bottom of the economic pyramid would bear the burden of the virtue signaling of those at the top.
[. . .]
Walmart officials were more frank about the reasons the company was downsizing. He said the company cited the District’s rising minimum wage, now at $11.50 an hour and possibly going to $15 an hour if a proposed ballot measure is successful in November.
[. . .]

Math is so hard for progressives. I expect any day now some Democrat in Congress will introduce a bill repealing it.

Wal-Mart Refuses To Bake Cake With Confederate Flag, But Bakes One With ISIS Flag

[From article]
Wal-Mart is apologizing after a store in Louisiana rejected a customer’s request for a cake decorated with a Confederate battle flag, but gladly baked him a cake with a Islamic State flag on it.
Chuck Netzhammer told ABC News that his order last week for a Confederate flag cake with the words, “Heritage Not Hate,” was rebuffed at the bakery department of a Wal-Mart in Slidell, Louisiana. He said the store didn’t apply the same rule to imagery for Islamic State, the terrorist army also known by the acronyms ISIS and ISIL.
“I went back yesterday and managed to get an ISIS battle flag printed. ISIS happens to be somebody who we’re fighting against right now who are killing our men and boys overseas and are beheading Christians,” Mr. Netzhammer said.
Wal-Mart apologized and blamed it on a misunderstanding.

Christian Family Band Engages Arizona Police in Walmart Parking Lot

[From article]
A Cottonwood police video released Friday appears to show an officer shooting a man who was laying on the asphalt in a Walmart parking lot after fighting with a downed officer.
Cottonwood Police Chief Jody Fanning said that Enoch Gaver, 21, had disarmed Sgt. Jeremy Daniels and had shot him in the leg. He said Gaver was still armed with Daniels' gun when Officer Rick Hicks started hitting him with a baton.
After Hicks determined the baton had no effect, he resorted to shooting Gaver to death, Fanning said.
Hicks also shot and wounded David Gaver, who also had been on top of Daniels and had charged towards Hicks, Fanning said.
[. . .]

Photos: YAVAPAI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Peter Gaver, Ruth Gaver, Nathaniel Gaver and Jeremiah Gaver were arrested in the brawl.

The incident began when a female Walmart employee tried to use a women's restroom and was prevented from doing so when she was pushed out of the way.
Nathan Gaver told police that his mother, Ruth, was using the restroom, and that he and his brother Jeremiah were guarding it.
Police are seen in another video snippet arriving at the scene, where a large group of people are standing near a Chevrolet Suburban. The brawl ensues almost immediately after the third and fourth officers arrive.
Fanning said he still does not understand why the Gavers chose to fight his officers, rather than simply speaking to them. He said the likely outcome of the call would have been a misdemeanor citation with no one going to jail if the Gavers had not escalated the incident.
[. . .]
The officers and the Gavers are seen punching each other on the video. At some point, an officer attempts to use a stun gun to bring the Gavers under control, but that appears to have little effect.
After Daniels is seen on the ground, struggling with one of the Gavers, Hicks is seen using the asp to strike the man. Later, Hicks pulls out his gun. The video captures the flash from the gun's muzzle.
But even the fatal shooting doesn't end the brawl. Additional officers arrive on the scene and fight with other members of the Gaver family to bring them under control.
Five Gavers were arrested by police and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on a variety of charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer, hindering prosecution and resisting arrest.
The family was well-known in Boise, where at least three members played in a Christian band outside an Albertson's supermarket, where they would post a sign with a Biblical verse. The band was known as Matthew 24 Now, an apparent reference to the Second Coming.
