Police made quite the discovery when raiding a home in Miami Lakes on Tuesday: over $24 million from a suspected marijuana trafficker, the largest money seizure in the department's history.

Luis Hernandez-Gonzalez, 44, was taken into custody on several drug and firearms charges stemming from an investigation by the Miami-Dade police and the Drug Enforcement Agency. His sister, Salma Hernandez, 32, was also arrested.
Both siblings appeared in court Wednesday, with Hernandez-Gonzalez ordered held on more than $4 million bond. His sister was given a $12,500 bond,

Police said Hernandez-Gonzalez, who runs The Blossom Experience store in Miami-Dade, was involved in trafficking marijuana to Tennessee along with two other men. He had been the target of an investigation dating back to 2010, speaking with informants about the drug trade, according to police.
The store’s website proclaims its expertise in indoor gardening needs and lists items including lights and fans. The business was raided as part of the operation, with officers finding drugs and $180,000 in a safe.
Hernandez-Gonzalez was recorded on various phone calls giving advice on how to care for the plants. After his arrest, Hernandez-Gonzalez allegedly admitted to helping customers grow the drug.

I would like to tell you about the biggest lie in book publishing. It appears in the biographies and social media profiles of almost every working “author” today. It’s the word “best seller.”
This isn’t about how The New York Times list is biased (though it is). This isn’t about how authors buy their way onto various national best-seller lists by buying their own books in bulk (though they do). No, this is about the far more insidious title of “Amazon Bestseller”—and how it’s complete and utter nonsense.
Here’s what happened in the book industry over the last few years: As Amazon has become the big dog in the book world, the “Amazon Bestseller” status has come to be synonymous with being an actual bestseller. This is not true, and I can prove it.
Last week, I put up a fake book on Amazon. I took a photo of my foot, uploaded to Amazon, and in a matter of hours, had achieved “No. 1 Best Seller” status, complete with the orange banner and everything.
How many copies did I need to sell be able to call up my mother and celebrate my newfound authorial achievements? Three. Yes, a total of three copies to become a best-selling author. And I bought two of those copies myself!

My company has helped sell over 5 million books and advised or managed book launches with every major publishing house, including Amazon.
We have important rules at my company about the projects we take on. We don’t work with authors whose books we wouldn’t read ourselves, and we don’t guarantee best-seller status. We say no to more work than we say yes to, but these principles help us avoid the gimmicky, one-hit-wonders who aren’t looking to write great books but instead are looking to trick people into thinking they have.

It used to be a real mark of distinction to hit the best-seller lists–because there were fewer lists and fewer authors

In most cases, your book not only has to be good enough for a legitimate publisher to publish it, but you have to outsell all the other books out there, past and present, even if you’re paying for it out of your pocket.

Because of the high bar, the term “bestselling author” was a term with some meaning.

I didn’t feel like writing a book so I instead just took a photo of my foot. I called the book “Putting My Foot Down” and included one page with, you guessed it, a photo of my foot.

Gone are the days of having to be selected to put out a book. Gone are the days of having to go to a bookstore to see what is available. [. . .] These days, over one million books are published each year, with at least half of these self-published.

For the authors: I hope my story illustrates that the best marketing tactic you can use for a book is to write a great book that actually sells over the long term.

German officials have ordered a cover-up of crimes committed by migrants to prevent causing alarm, a local newspaper has claimed.
Asylum seekers are being recruited across the country as cheap drug dealers as well as petty thieves, says German newspaper, Bild - the biggest daily paper in the country.
The paper accused the police of covering up the extent of migrant crimes in order to stop concerns among the general population.
It also claimed asylum seekers were prepared to work for a few euros couriering drugs across the country and said they were being signed up almost as soon as they had registered as asylum seekers.

Migrant crime was apparently the hot topic of discussion at gatherings of police, city officials, health officials and other officials dealing with the drug problem in the city of Frankfurt.
As well as drug related crimes, asylum seekers were also being used to sell stolen goods such as mobile phones, which in many cases were sold on to other refugees.
But the paper said that all of the officials dealing with the problem had been ordered not to talk about it, as it was an extremely sensitive subject that has been forbidden to be referred to in an 'offensive manner'.

The reason given by the paper was to avoid alarming the general public already concerned with the vast number of asylum seekers the country has allowed in, but also to avoid providing material for right-wing extremists.
New arrivals to the country were apparently the most desirable as they did not have any formal way of complaining about what they were asked to do and rarely gave problems to the drug-dealing Mafia.
The most successful couriers are then being recruited into the Mafia and are also being used to bring in further new recruits.

Police on Tuesday took down a ring of East Harlem gun traffickers who had been flooding the ​same streets where NYPD cop Randolph Holder was shot and killed last week​ with illegal weapons​, officials said.
Tuesday’s takedown came just hours before Holder’s wake in Queens — and exactly one week after ​he was gunned down in East Harlem.
​Six men ​are ​charged with selling undercover cops more 74 guns over a nearly one year.
“Each of the buys took place in residential neighborhoods in broad daylight, with two of the final sales taking place on East 102nd Street near the site of violence which culminated in the death of police officer Randolph Holder last week,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance told reporters after the men’s arraignment.

The six men indicted Tuesday are accused of selling 74 firearms to an undercover cop beginning last summer and continuing through this past August, court documents show.
The crew’s ringleader, Samuel “Scrappy” Barreto, was the person who arranged the deals between his associates and the undercover officers. He also personally sold most of the guns to the officer, authorities said.

In one of the larger buys from last summer, Barreto gave the officer a small arsenal of weapons, including a Tula Arsenal .38 caliber revolver, two Cobra .380 caliber semi-automatic pistols and a Beretta .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol, all with matching ammo, in exchange for $3,000, documents show.
Officials said many of the guns sold by Barreto and his crew came to New York City through the “Iron Pipeline,” a trade route for black market arms dealers who funnel guns from southern states.
“We are having this conversation against a very, very painful backdrop,” Mayor de Blasio said.
“We know for a fact, the gun that killed officer Holder originated in South Carolina,” he continued. “We keep seeing this pathway illustrated over and over again: a gun from South Carolina kills one of our finest here on our streets.”
“What adds to the pain of that loss is that these guns are so available.”

U.S. State Department Employee Sentenced For Selling Visas

A State Department employee who sold U.S. visas on the black market in Vietnam for up to $70,000 a pop was sentenced Friday to 64 months in prison, after a scam authorities said allows hundreds of travelers who had previously been denied entry to sneak into the U.S.
The scheme, which involved a handful of people and netted more than $9 million during two years that it ran, submitted about 500 fraudulent visa applications, and almost all of them were granted — even though many of the same people had been denied visas before.
Michael T. Sestak, who ran the non-immigrant visa section of the consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, took home about $3 million of that, which he laundered through buying properties in Thailand, federal authorities said.
“Because of this defendant’s selfish greed, nearly 500 foreign nationals were able to enter the United States without the proper screening. This sentence reflects the seriousness of his corrupt conduct,” said Vincent H. Cohen Jr., acting U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.
Sestak pleaded guilty in 2013. Several others in the case have already been sentenced, including one American citizen living in Vietnam who made more than $5 million from the scam. He was sentenced to serve eight years in prison.

Attorney General Maura Healey is blasting the debate in Washington over defunding Planned Parenthood as “the most recent offensive in a decadeslong campaign to cut off women’s access to health care,” according to an email she fired off to supporters yesterday.
That missive quickly led abortion opponents to accuse the state’s top law enforcement officer of taking a political stance they say disqualifies her from probing whether the women’s health provider is scoring illegal profits from fetal parts. That charge has been leveled by anti-abortion
activists in a series of disturbing undercover videos of staffers at Planned Parenthood and another abortion provider.
“I’ve had enough. The latest attacks in Washington on Planned Parenthood are nothing new,” Healey wrote in the email. “This debate in Congress? There’s simply no ‘there’ there. ... For the sake of those women and their families, let’s put this smoke-and-mirrors ‘debate’ to rest. Standing up for women’s health care means standing with Planned Parenthood.”
Opponents were quick to seize on Healey’s message, which was sent out just days after she cleared the state’s chapter of Planned Parenthood in the scandal.

“It’s not a smart thing to do for a politician to take such a public advocacy stance, particularly in her position, on something that she may be ruling on down the road,” said Anne Fox, president of Massachusetts Citizens for Life. “So she’s going to have to plan on recusing herself.
“If she were dog catcher or something it wouldn’t matter, but in her position, for her to make these statements, it makes it kind of embarrassing to be a citizen of Massachusetts.”
Healey, who declined to comment, has been a poster pol for Planned Parenthood, crediting its endorsement as “a game changer for my campaign” for AG, according to a posting featured prominently on the website of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which donated $1,256 to her.
“Obviously your attorney general is in the tank for Planned Parenthood and refuses to weigh the evidence like a prosecutor ought to,” Center for Medical Progress board member Troy Newman told the Herald. “She is taking something that is a simple law and order matter and turning it into a political issue and burying her head in the sand.”

Although donation of fetal tissue is permissible under state and federal law, PPLM does not have a tissue donation program. There is no evidence that PPLM is involved in any way in the buying or selling of tissue. As such, our review is complete.

office will “review any materials” filed by The Center for Medical Progress “with the Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Trusts to determine whether the organization violated laws.”

Executives of Planned Parenthood’s federally subsidized meat markets — your tax dollars at work — lack the courage of their convictions. They should drop the pretense of conducting a complex moral calculus about the organs they harvest from the babies they kill.
First came the video showing a salad-nibbling, wine-sipping Planned Parenthood official explaining how “I’m going to basically crush below, I’m going to crush above” whatever organ (“heart, lung, liver”) is being harvested. Then the president of a Planned Parenthood chapter explained the happy side of harvesting: “For a lot of the women participating in the fetal tissue donation program, they’re having a procedure that may be a very difficult decision for them and this is a way for them to feel that something positive is coming from . . . a very difficult time.”

In 1973, the Supreme Court, simultaneously frivolous and arrogant, discovered constitutional significance in the fact that the number nine is divisible by three. It decreed that the status of pre-born human life changes with pregnancy’s trimesters. (What would abortion law be if the number of months of gestation were a prime number — seven or 11?) The court followed this preposterous assertion with faux humility, insisting it could not say when life begins. Then, swerving back to breathtaking vanity, it declared when “meaningful” life begins — “viability,” when the fetus is “potentially able” to survive outside the womb.
When life begins is a scientific, not a philosophic or theological, question: Life begins when the chromosomes of the sperm fuse with those of the ovum, forming a distinctive DNA complex that controls the new organism’s growth. This growth process continues unless a natural accident interrupts it or it is ended by the sort of deliberate violence Planned Parenthood sells.

Even partial-birth abortion is — must be — a sacrament in the Church of “Choice.” This sect knows that its entire edifice depends on not yielding an inch on its insistence that what an abortion kills never possesses a scintilla of moral significance.
In partial-birth abortion, a near-term baby is pulled by the legs almost out of the birth canal, until the base of the skull is exposed so the abortionist can suck out its contents. During Senate debates on this procedure, three Democrats were asked: Suppose a baby’s head slips out of the birth canal — the baby is born — before the abortionist can kill it. Does the baby then have a right to live? Two of the Democrats refused to answer. The third said the baby acquires a right to life when it leaves the hospital.

We are wallowing in this moral swamp because the Supreme Court accelerated the desensitization of the nation by using words and categories about abortion the way infants use knives and forks — with gusto, but sloppily. Because Planned Parenthood’s snout is deep in the federal trough, decent taxpayers find themselves complicit in the organization’s vileness. What kind of a government disdains the deepest convictions of citizens by forcing them to finance what they see in videos — Planned Parenthood operatives chattering about bloody human fragments? “Taxes,” said Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., “are what we pay for civilized society.” Today they finance barbarism.

Planned Parenthood Reportedly Sold Intact Dead Babies

Undercover investigator David Daleiden tells CNN the reason StemExpress is trying to suppress the video he took of its CEO on May 22 is because the company doesn’t want anyone to know it bought whole intact dead babies from Planned Parenthood.



Daleiden said on CNN, “In a meeting with their top leadership, they admitted that they sometimes get fully intact fetuses shipped to their laboratory from the abortion clinics they work with, and that could be prima facie evidence of born alive infants. And so that’s why they’re trying to suppress that videotape and they’re very scared of it.”

StemExpress filed a lawsuit against Daleiden earlier this week in hopes of stopping the video and other material from being distributed. They are claiming the meeting was confidential and that Daleiden signed a confidentiality agreement. A Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles rejected one claim by StemExpress outright on Monday evening, but ordered a very narrow temporary restraining order related to that one video on Tuesday.

Two Hour Video Indicates Planned Parenthood Involved With Selling Aborted Fetus Tissue to Brokers

So I watched the unedited video, which runs a little under 3 hours, and referenced the transcript. Planned Parenthood looked even worse (if that’s possible) after hearing the conversation in its entirety.
For those not familiar with the video that circulated this past week, two citizen journalists (referred to as “Buyers” in the transcript) posed as representatives from a fetal tissue procurement company looking to partner with Planned Parenthood to acquire organs, body parts, and/or tissue from aborted fetuses that the company would then sell to biotech firms doing stem cell research. Procurement companies provide a way for abortionists to get around a law that prohibits the sale of fetal tissue.

Technically, it is against the law for any clinic to sell fetal remains for money. The NIH Revitalization Act of 1993 saw to this….
However, many abortion clinics are able to get around this law….

…. The research institutes and the abortion clinics have joined with a third party, the fetal tissue wholesaler. The fetal tissue wholesaler pays the abortion clinics a “site fee” to place employees, known as “procurement agents,” who collect various body parts of the aborted fetuses as soon as the abortion process is finished and ship them to various research institutes….
The wholesaler is technically renting the space to harvest the body parts rather than paying for the tissue itself. The abortionist then “donates” the tissues to the wholesalers. At the other end of the transaction, the wholesaler will “donate” the fetal material to researchers but bill them for the cost of retrieval. Thus the business deal is complete.

Consent aside, there is no doubt Planned Parenthood is selling organs, body parts, and tissue from aborted fetuses to procurement companies. Planned Parenthood claims they don’t make a profit and only recoup money for the additional time involved in speaking with women about the donation option and gathering consent.

The barbarity is shocking. And the incredible nonchalance with which the doctor on the video tape spoke about abortion, killing fetuses, and harvesting parts of these once-thriving babies in the womb is physically sickening.

And how insane, upside down, and backwards is it that abortionists take special care when performing the abortion to ensure certain organs and body parts remain vital for donation?

Apparently that’s what each life growing in a mother’s womb boils down to for these people. A waste product comprised of 18 liters of tissue that is a pain in the @$ to dispose of.

Bitcoin, the technology that’s meant to revolutionize the way we think of money, is simultaneously revolutionizing the way we get mugged.

A New York City firefighter named Dwayne Richards was recently held up, stabbed and robbed by thieves who were after his bitcoin, the Observer has learned. From what we’ve discovered, Mr. Richards, who is a firefighter in lower Manhattan, was mugged and left bleeding after meeting the robbers under the pretense of exchanging bitcoin for cash in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He’s alive, well, and refusing comment.

But robbing someone of his bitcoin in person can be an astonishingly effective way to make off with vast sums of capital quickly and untraceably. And Mr. Richards is far from the first to fall victim to bitcoin-related brutality.Typically, when we hear of bitcoin-related crimes, it’s a white-collar affair—millions of dollars going missing from an overseas exchange, or a plucky enthusiast finding himself in an international money-laundering scheme.

The U.S. government on Wednesday said it plans to auction 50,000 bitcoins on March 5, following the recent criminal conviction of Ross Ulbricht for being the mastermind behind the online black market known as Silk Road.
The auction being conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service is the third for bitcoins seized in connection with Silk Road, which prosecutors said let customers buy and sell drugs and other illegal goods beneath the radar of law enforcement.
A federal jury in Manhattan on Feb. 4 found Ulbricht guilty of narcotics and other charges for helping to enable about $200 million of anonymous online drug sales using bitcoins.
Prosecutors said Ulbricht, 30, had run Silk Road under the pseudonym “Dread Pirate Roberts” before the website was shut down in October 2013.

An order to crack down on the illegal sale of 75-cent cigarettes in Staten Island came directly from Police Headquarters, setting off a chain of events that ended in Eric Garner’s death, the Daily News has learned.
Chief of Department Philip Banks — the highest-ranking uniformed cop in the city — sent a sergeant from his office at 1 Police Plaza in July to investigate complaints of untaxed cigarettes being sold in the Tompkinsville neighborhood, a source close to the investigation told The News.
“(Banks) set the whole thing in motion,” the source said.
The sale of loosies had been on Banks’ radar since at least March, when it was discussed at a meeting at Police Headquarters about quality-of-life issues, a police source said.

Siras’ Dustin Ares pointed to one organized crime ring that used eBay as its clearinghouse.
This return scam involved purchasing broken electronics off the auction site and then buying new items off store shelves. “They would go to the store with a repackaged and shrink-wrapped broken item inside a new box and return it for full value.”
The clever crooks managed to rack up $2 million in profits over a year, Ares said.

For instance, “A guy goes around and purchases expensive items and at the same time buys into the extended service plan. Then he calls the service-plan provider and claims the items were in disrepair and asks ‘What can you do about this?’”
A refund for the service plan was executed, and according to Ares, this particular shakedown artist hit the company offering the service plan more than 200 times in two weeks—each time pocketing a couple Benjamins in an insurance settlement with little to no need to prove anything was faulty.

The perpetrators idled in parking lots outside various Wal-Marts and approached customers with cans of paint to ask for the customers to forfeit the cans so they can be used to collect money for their school sports teams.
“They would get the cans and bring them back to the stores but they didn’t have any paint in them,” said the source, who requested anonymity. “Instead, they filled them up with water. This happened over a dozen times before they caught on.”

Louise Stephan, a representative for supermarket chain Coop, confirmed the message was found on two receipts from a Stockholm location and the words were apparently added to the system manually by an employee.
"I can confirm that this happened. It's completely unacceptable and we're very disappointed," Stephan told The Local.
Stephan said the store is investigating. She did not say whether the responsible employee had been identified or what actions would be taken against the worker.

Largest UK Grocery Retailer Stops Selling Israeli Products

Tesco, the UK’s largest food retailer, has strongly rejected claims that the Gaza crisis is forcing it to stop selling Israeli produce and products, saying that in the case of Israeli dates packaged under its own label it had decided to stop selling them in September “for commercial reasons.”
According to the grocery chain, the dates are grown in Israel but packaged in the West Bank.
“It is clearly marked as “West Bank (Israeli settlement produce)” so customers are fully aware of what they are buying,” a spokesman told The Jerusalem Post. “As part of our regular review of our range, we will not be selling this product for much longer.”
The spokesman said that in line with the recent request from the British government on “origin of food” labeling, the dates have to be marked and sold as such, and as Tesco customers have been asking for such information, the company has to supply it.

The kids filed into class Monday morning. They were all very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on salesmanship.

Little Sally led off. "I sold Girl Scout cookies and I made $30" she said proudly, "My sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success." "Very good", said the teacher.

Little Debbie was next. "I sold magazines" she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events." "Very good, Debbie", said the teacher.

Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn. The teacher held her breath. Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467", he said.

"$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling?"

Toothbrushes", said Little Johnny.

"Toothbrushes", echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?"

"I found the busiest corner in town," said Little Johnny, "I set up a Dip & Chip stand and I gave everybody who walked by a free sample." They all said the same thing, "Hey, this tastes like dog poop!" Then I would say, "It is dog poop; you wanna buy a toothbrush?" I used the Obama method of giving you some crap, dressing it up so it looks good, telling you it's free and then making you pay to get the bad taste out of your mouth."

Little Johnny got five stars for his assignment. Bless his heart.
