When Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced that he would vote against the nuclear deal with Iran, he didn’t just take a position -- he rejected every major argument President Obama has made on the agreement’s behalf. Schumer argues this is not a deal that prevents Iran from getting nuclear weapons, but one that brings it to the threshold of nuclear weapons capability. He states that its verification and enforcement mechanisms are flawed. Finally, he points out it provides Iran with tens of billions of dollars it could spend on subsidizing terrorism and other violent pursuits.
If Schumer’s goal were to lose the fewest friends possible, he could have provided a tepid rationale for his position that did not lend so much credibility to the arguments made by the deal’s opponents. But Schumer also makes his arguments in a thoughtful, even courtly manner-- in sharp contrast to President Obama, who insisted in a mean-spirited address on Thursday that the merits of the deal are so obvious that one should dismiss any criticism as “knee-jerk partisanship” or mercenary opposition bought and paid for by wealthy donors.

“Invest in the future.” In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo follows in a long line of political leaders who, using some version of those words, said that they wanted to invest in jobs and growth—and then did little to follow through. If Cuomo and others really wanted to make such investments, they would have reduced taxes, both for individuals and businesses, and streamlined regulation.

For decades, New York has been one of the highest-tax states in the union.

Governor Cuomo’s “Global NY” initiative, targeting Mexican, Canadian, Israeli, Chinese, and Italian firms, while also paying for the governor to lead a trade mission to Cuba, does not appear to have lured any significant business to the Empire State.

Failure to invest in policies that actually grow the economy, then, demonstrates that the constant talk of investment is pure rhetoric.
More telling still is where the budgetary emphasis has gone. Without exception, spending has grown fastest in areas best described as current consumption.

2) Racist -- The most difficult to defend frame is the charge of "racist' especially made by an African-American. It is their most effective frame. When conservatives oppose any proposed social program that benefits African-Americans more than others, they are called "racist". Opposing President Obama or Eric Holder is racist. When the Bush administration tried to investigate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, that was racist. The investigation could have saved hundreds of billions.
1) Democracy – The liberals frame America as a Democracy. It is a constitutional republic. The Democrats are delighted that the media refers to the USA as a democracy -- a term that is nearly identical to the term “Democrat”. In a child’s mind, the obvious choice in a democracy is to be a Democrat. In a democracy, the majority gets what it wants. In our constitutional republic, the minority's rights are guaranteed in the constitution and are protected by the courts. The USA has never been a democracy.

Harvard as Arsonist and Fire Chief

Critics of J. Edgar Hoover revealed that he was the Arsonist and the Fire Chief. He would create a problem and wait for the victim(s) to petition the FBI to solve it. The FBI still uses this pattern today. Has Harvard University adopted the pattern? US Rep. Gifford while making herself accessible to constituents unlike the imperial MA politicians, was seriously wounded by one of them. Living 2700 miles from Harvard maybe she was unaware of the many programs promoted by Harvard. Affirmative Action a product of geniuses at Harvard Law School, was one divisive program made into law. Promoting one group over another is an institution within the institution. Black Americans, homosexuals, women, illegal aliens and Muslims get preferential treatment at Harvard. All of this adds to alienation by other groups and creates group against group rivalry. Punishing people for things they did not do and rewarding others for things they did not suffer does not make for respect and admiration. If US Rep. Giffords was aware of these anomalies she might not have sought help from Harvard to tone down the rhetoric. Harvard is the source of much of the animosity that poisons public discourse.

This was a campaign manipulating human emotions, which few people have
an awareness of how they influence their thoughts and behavior. Does this explain the infantile emotional responses to Republicans in the incubator states for limousine liberals?

Here's another article reported in the Harvard Law Record about Cass Sunstein's studies on extremism in political activity. One Cambridge man who is a retired Vice President at Boston University challenged my comments about how few Cambridge residents think rationally. He told me that that is nonsense and asked if I was a racist. Here is more evidence that I am correct. Cambridge is the most intolerant place I've ever lived with extremist positions openly expressed toward anyone who disagrees with them.

Six Against One is Fairer

It makes sense for "a team of high-powered Democrats" to call for a cease fire against Deval Patrick. (Dave Wedge, "Harshbarger pushes ‘nice’ try," Boston Herald, October 6, 2006) But Ross and Mihos directed their fire against Healy while passive Patrick is the poll-leader by a large margin. Why do all three candidates act together attacking Healy? Unless three more candidates are added to the attacks on Healy, their strategy needs an explanation. Six against one would be a fairer fight, no?

John Kerry’s bid for president.
Harshbarger accused the Healey camp of using “Karl Rove tactics” and “fear mongering.” He said the GOP is “distorting” Patrick’s support of rapist Ben LaGuer and his 1985 defense of Florida cop-killer Carl Songer to create a situation similar to the Willie Horton furlough scandal that plagued former Gov. Michael Dukakis in his presidential bid. “These are typical Republican attack ads,” Harshbarger said.
Healey campaign spokesman Tim O’Brien countered that Democrats have been “running smear attacks against the lieutenant governor for months.” He added, “If Deval Patrick’s record is negative, then maybe they nominated the wrong person.”
Both independent candidate Christy Mihos and Green-Rainbow Party candidate Grace Ross called on Healey and Patrick to stop the sniping. “Negative ads become a deflection away from the issues,” Ross said. “If the two of them could pull themselves back from the brink and actually deal with the policy issues, that would really be nice.” But Mihos conceded the worst is probably to come. “Strap on your helmet, this is going to get crazy,” he said.
