Ex-NY-NJ PA Officer Busted With Crime Family Members for Extortion, Drugs
[From article]
Four alleged Gambino crime family associates — one of them a former Port Authority cop — were busted Tuesday in connection with the sale of narcotics and the extortion of a Manhattan businessman, sources told The Post.
Two of the four, ex-PA cop Steve Cilluffo, 62, and Quentin Carbone, 49, were expected to be charged with extortion for pressuring the owner of an office cleaning business to pay more than $60,000 in protection money, the sources said.

NY-NJ Dock Workers Earn $400 K
[From article]
"In some cases, union contracts specifically state that some positions — like checkers and timekeepers — are on the clock as long as the employees they oversee are working.
“These people don’t have to be at the pier. They don’t even have to be in the state,” said Walter Arsenault, executive director of the commission. “They get paid as if they are working.”
Because ships come in and out at all hours, many of the people who hold those positions are on the clock 24 hours a day, often on time-and-a-half or double-time.

Gold-plated pay for 'disabled' PA brass
"Jerry Speziale, 50, took over as second-in-command at the PAPD last week after abruptly resigning as Passaic County sheriff, where he made $151,000 a year.
On top of his new salary, Speziale will continue collecting a $58,181.52 "accidental disability retirement" yearly pension he was awarded in 1997 by an NYPD pension medical board that concluded he was too incapacitated to continue working, records show."

Looking in All the Wrong Places
Looking in All the Wrong Places
The New York-New Jersey Port of Authority will have two full-time
psychologists ($300,000 one year contract) watching construction
workers at the lower Manhattan World Trade Center site. (Angela Montefinise
and Ginger Adam Otis, "WTC psych-out," New York Post, September 28, 2008)
"Workers will also be asked to report out-of-character behavior among their
colleagues to counselors."
There is a greater need for psychiatric scrutiny of investment
bankers, politicians, and journalists who are sociopathic liars,
megalomaniacs, and egoists. When will psychologists be placed in the
House of Representatives, the Senate and state legislative chambers?
They do more harm to the nation than construction workers.
