Boston MA Police and FBI Agent Shoot Suspect Dead, Who Was Under Surveillance

Members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force reportedly shot a suspect who displayed a large, military style knife in the parking lot of CVS parking lot on 4600 Washington St. near the West Roxbury Parkway this morning.
According to online alerts, the suspect was under surveillance at the time of the shooting. He passed away after being taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Boston Police, the FBI, and Mayor Marty Walsh are at the scene and will be holding a press conference soon about the incident, according to reports.

Imam Ibrahim Rahim noted in the post that his younger brother, Usaama Rahim, was shot this morning while waiting for a bus to get to work. He later died at the hospital.
“He was confronted by three Boston Police officers and subsequently shot in the back three times,” according to the post. “He was on his cell phone with my dear father during the confrontation needing a witness. His last words to my father who heard the shots were: “I can’t breathe!’”

WCVB-TV (Boston MA ABC affiliate) reported at 6:00 PM June 2, 2015, Boston Police Commissioner Evans said they have video showing the attack by suspect on police. Evans said it will be released on Wednesday. Showed image of knife on site of confrontation. Rhondella Richardson in Everett where police took a man into custody at 208 Linden Street. Police entered with battering ram, and SWAT team at 8:00 AM Tuesday. Third site in Warwick, R.I. part of investigation. Police searched suspect's apartment, who police say they only wanted to talk with him.

Karen Anderson reported Joint Terrorism Task Force needed to act on Tuesday because of suspected attack on police. Department of Homeland Security suggested extra caution to police.

Neighborhood Crime Task Force Final Report November 19, 2007

From the Executive Summary of the Crime Task Force Final Report Nov. 19,
2007. "The recommendations for action described in this report represent the
consensus opinion of the Task Force members that resulted from this intensive
and comprehensive process."
"Consensus: Collective opinion. General agreement or accord." (American
heritage Dictionary, 2nd Ed. 1982)
Task Force Membership: Co-chairs are Mayor Reeves, and City Manager Robert
Healy. Four City Councilors, Kelley, Simmons, Galluccio, and Reeves. Two School
Committee Members, Harding and Grassi.
Ellen Semenoff, a lawyer, is Assistant City Manager for Human Services, and
the supervisor of the Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator for Cambridge.
Cambridge Police Commissioner and two Deputy Superintendents. The Chief of
MIT police. 50 members total.
On page 25, Chapter 4: "Crime has a variety of causes, not least among
which are mental health . . .”
This is irrational. Studies prove that withdrawal from psychiatric drugs
cause violence. The Task Force members are clueless about that. Task Force Final
Report demonstrates irrational prejudice, which indicates unlawful denial of
rights to persons with disabilities.
Recommendations, page 30: “experts on mental health to be on call as
appropriate if the situation involves crime in which mental health might be a
factor.”
There is no causal connection between crime and disability. Task Force
again shows its irrational prejudices toward persons with disabilities. Task
Force is unable to distinguish between crime and disability.
They would never suggest that persons of color commit crimes because of
their race, that homosexuals commit crimes due to their sexual preferences, or
that women commit crime because of their gender. They openly state in a formal
city report that persons with disabilities commit crimes due to their
disability. That is an outrage.
The Task Force boasted the “distinguished group represented each segment of
the community called for in the policy order.” Once again persons with
disabilities were excluded from a city project. The City Manager and the Mayor
chose the members. How many times do these public officials need to be told that
they violate city, state and US laws regarding persons with disabilities? They
refuse to extend civic participation to persons with disabilities. They need to
be removed from office. This is a bigoted report.
A statement on each City Council agenda says "City of Cambridge does not
discriminate on the basis of disability." Huh?

Members of the Crime Task Force and City Councilors speak as if Cambridge
is the first city to ever have a crime problem. (Matt Dunning, "Crime task

They conveniently ignore major causal factors. In 1995 Princeton Professor
John J. DiIulio cautioned, [there are] "40 million kids 10 years old and under"
who are about to become teen-agers, the biggest group of adolescents in a
generation, and many of them "fatherless, godless and jobless." (FOX
BUTTERFIELD, "Crime Continues to Decline, but Experts Warn of Coming 'Storm' of
Juvenile Violence," The New York Times, November 19, 1995) The prediction was
that these young men would create a serious increase in crime. Twelve years
later the Cambridge City Council wonders what to do. Does government corruption
contribute to high levels of crime?
Why did City government hold its head in the sand all these years? If they
were unable to solve this with ten years notice what will they propose after 14
months with amateurs? The Councilors have eyes but cannot see. They have ears
but cannot hear. The City Manager speaks no evil, hears no evil and sees no
evil. He is not a monkey.
Perhaps Decker's idea will work. Brief the Council on what the Task Force
is doing. Yes, that sounds like a workable solution to crime.

Crime task force to hold public forum

The task force charged with presenting the City Council with a long-term plan to
curb violent crime in the city plans to hold a citywide public forum next week.

A week ago, it looked as if the same task force had painted itself into a bit of
a corner.

By seeking the input of the City Council on when to hold a public forum —
scheduled for Sept. 25 in the Sullivan Chamber at City Hall — the task force
could have inadvertently delayed the release of its final report.

Two weeks ago, the task force that focuses on how to lessen crime in Cambridge
spent more than an hour of its regular meeting trying to decide when, where and
under what circumstances to hold a public forum to gather input as it prepares
its report to the council. The task force has been working since the beginning
the summer on a comprehensive safety report — due Oct. 22 —aimed at stemming
violence in Cambridge, in response to a rash of shootings last summer.

Last Monday, Mayor Ken Reeves — who co-chairs the task force with City Manager
Bob Healy — told his fellow councilors that the task force wanted the council’s
opinion on what the proper format of the public forum would be.

In response, Councilor Marjorie Decker said she felt as though the council
hadn’t been given nearly enough information about the task force’s progress
throughout the summer, and requested that the council be briefed on the status
of the report before making a recommendation for a public forum.
