Philadelphia Politician Claims He Was Misunderstood

At least two undiscussed issues here. One is that police more often than not, refuse to identify the race or religion of suspects. The second is that police, prosecutors, politicians and journalists have no reluctance to "paint with a broad brush" (the mayor's words) all persons who have ever been accused of being crazy. It is always reported by journalists repeating what police and prosecutors say in open court that a suspect has "a history of mental illness" as if that has anything to do with the criminal complaint. The mayor joins the rest of the hypocrite nation defending his own bigotry.

Philadelphia’s Mayor Jim Kenney has earned himself a place in the Doofus Hall of Fame for telling a press conference about an attempted assassination a police officer by a man who told police he acted “in the name of Islam” because “the police defend laws that are contrary to the teachings of the Quran”:
In no way shape or form does anyone in this room believe that Islam or the teaching of Islam has anything to do with what you’ve seen on the screen. That is abhorrent. It’s just terrible and it does not represent this religion in any way shape or form or any of its teachings. And this is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers. It has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith.

I have confidence in the FBI and our police department working together to determine the actual reasons for this.

The 200,000 Muslims who live in Philadelphia are not represented by the actions of Mr. Archer. He is a criminal and they are not criminals. I think it is important that we make very clear that regardless of where this leads that those folks, who are God-fearing, tax paying Americans, should not be painted with that broad brush. I think it is important that we highlight that.

The FBI and police have not concluded that this is an act of terrorism. They are investigating it as it could be, but I think our FBI and police know more than Rush Limbaugh.
