Cosby Accuser Files Lawsuit Against Cosby For Defamation

Tamara Green, inset, filed a defamation lawsuit in federal court in Springfield, MA against Bill Cosby, left, saying he branded her as a liar.

Tamara Green filed the suit yesterday in Springfield federal court, accusing Cosby and his handlers
of publicly calling her a liar after she first went public with her allegations in a 2005 “Today” show appearance.
Green was an aspiring model and singer helping Cosby raise money from investors to open a new club in the early 1970s when the comedian offered her red and gray pills that he said were over-the-counter cold medicine, court records show. After the pills left her weak and dizzy, Cosby drove her to her apartment, where he sexually assaulted her, Green’s suit alleges.
Joseph Cammarata, a Washington, D.C.-based attorney who once represented Paula Jones’ sexual harassment case against Clinton, said the suit “provides Ms. Green with an opportunity to restore her good name and reputation and attempt to prove that what she said happened, did in fact happen.”

Victims advocate Wendy Murphy said Green’s suit “provides a forum about what this man has done over the years.”
“Bill Cosby has gotten away with saying nothing so far,” Murphy said. “Now with this lawsuit, he has no choice but to submit to discovery. He has to give a deposition, so win or lose, just forcing him to answer questions will be a tremendous victory.”
Murphy said other alleged victims could also testify at the trial.
“What will be interesting is if he starts throwing money at her because that’s been his pattern in the past,” said Murphy. “I hope she doesn’t take it and it goes to trial.”
