NY Judge Gives Pass to Corrupt Cop
If "jail sentence[s don't] deter a public official from misconduct," why would it deter ordinary civilians? This judge sounds as if he was doing someone a favor.

"But [Judge] Walsh, a former cop, rejected prison for Johnstone, saying removal from society and rehabilitation were not issues for Johnstone and jailing him would not prevent more corruption.
