Firefighters Pensions

Argument of Firefighter's Captain's Union is flawed. 110 years ago there was no economic threat to the city or to the nation. The unwillingness of Firefighters to recogize this and to contribute to the resolution of the problem shows their selfishness. In addition the argument surely does not apply to all city workers which get similar pensions, e.g. teachers.

[From letter]
Over 110 years ago, we made a contract with tax-paying citizens that, if we risked our lives for them, we would be rewarded with a decent, livable salary and a fair pension."
