Reinforcing Stereotypes
Reinforcing Stereotypes
Just because the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald and the lame stream media
continue to demonize persons with disabilities that is no reason why the Dig has
to imitate their worst practices. Saying "a mentally ill contractor" in Media
Farm (page 8) and "contractor with a history of mental issues" in
Quality-of-life index (page 10), November 7, 2007, the Dig editors indicate
their prejudice toward persons accused of mental illness. What is the causal
connection between being accused of mental illness and crime? The only
connection is an irrational belief in the minds of the writers.
