Texas Gov. Perry Indicted; Retaliation From Drunk Driving Arrest of Democratic Prosecutor

Texas Gov. Rick Perry

The only different part of this abuse of power is that it is a sitting Governor indicted. How many ordinary citizens have been arrested and convicted for political expression of protected speech by similar criminal officials? I know at least one personally.

[From article]
Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz calls himself a "liberal Democrat who would never vote for Rick Perry," but he's still "outraged" over the Texas governor's indictment Friday on charges of abuse of power and coercion.
The charges are politically motivated and an example of a "dangerous" trend of courts being used to affect the ballot box and politics, he told Newsmax on Saturday.
"Everybody, liberal or conservative, should stand against this indictment," Dershowitz said. "If you don't like how Rick Perry uses his office, don't vote for him."

Obama Threatens Veto Of Bill Requiring Him To Obey Constitution

[From article]
Obama also threatened to veto another bill by Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., which would require the administration to explain decisions not to enforce laws when those decisions are rooted in policy concerns rather than just constitutional concerns (which the Justice Department is already required to do).
"The American people deserve to know exactly which laws the Obama administration is refusing to enforce and why," DeSantis said when introducing his bill.

The People's Veto

The People's Veto

"If we have learned anything in the last few months, it is that votes can be bought pretty easily when you are spending the taxpayers’ money rather than your own.
And what if there had not been a special election in Massachusetts this month? Then how would Congress and President Obama have gotten the message from the people? They don’t seem to pay attention to letters from their constituents or phone calls (“We’re sorry, but the voice mailbox of the person you are calling is full.”) They didn’t pay attention to more than a million people who marched on Washington in September (“That looks more like 30,000 people to me!”). And they didn’t pay attention to the fact that NOT EVEN ONE Republican would support the bill in the Senate (so much for Obama’s promise to end the partisan rancor in Washington).
[. . .]
The question the American public needs to have answered once and for all is: “Can you hear us now?”
[. . .]

The question that remains to be answered is whether there is any wisdom in Congress."
