Manhattan lawyer Stephen Krawitz, 62, netted a total of nearly $1 million for 18 clients — including a 96-year-old great-grandmother and a 74-year-old cancer patient who is now deceased — only to turn around and swipe more
than $600,000 of it from them, officials said.
The lawyer stole the cash he won on behalf of his mostly elderly, low-income clients between 2008 and 2014 by transferring the windfalls into his personal accounts, authorities charged in a 21-count indictment.
The crooked lawyer then lied to 16 of his clients about receiving their settlements to cover his tracks, court records charge.
