Earlier today, the British government raised its terror threat level to “severe,” suggesting a very likely terrorist attack by ISIS on British soil. In response, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson issued a statement saying the government is unaware of any “credible threat” on U.S. soil from ISIS.
Johnson says, “At present, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are unaware of any specific, credible threat to the U.S. homeland from ISIL.”
He does go on to acknowledge that they have the “intent and capability to target American citizens overseas,” and naturally they’re still “an active and serious threat within the region.”
