Misinformed Candidates

Amazing how much misinformation exists among candidates. Recent Harvard grad Cheung said, "There wouldn’t really be a Cambridge if Harvard hadn’t founded their college here." History of Cambridge includes large factories in the current city limits. But Cambridge used to include parts of Lexington and Arlington. Candidate Leslie said, “It is good politics to say whatever you want to say if it’s against Harvard[.]” Oh? Seldom are negative statements heard about Harvard among city councilors. At some meetings councilors warned me before speaking, "Be nice." At others only positive comments were allowed. Councilor Cheung indicates his Harvard bias saying, "How do we deal with too much of a good thing?” Pre-Homeric Greek philosopher Cleobulous said, "The chief source of evil among men is excessive good." Maybe that explains some discomfort with Harvard the new Leviathan. Leslie shows a lack of knowledge about Harvard residential tenants who are openly abused and exploited. Non Harvard affiliates are members of the dreaded lesser "community." Only Councilor Kelley's comments match reality. Good work here exposing misguided thoughts of candidates.
