No Cell Phones Allowed

No Cell Phones Allowed

An "administration official" justified "three State Police officers as
chauffeurs" for the Governor's chief of staff saying it was "to make
sure he can be in communications with the governor in a safe way in an
emergency." (FREDRIC U. DICKER, "SPITZER AIDES COUNTER 'TRICKS'TER
TESTIMONY," New York Post, July 28, 2008) This is reported on page 2,
when on page 1 the same day it's reported the governor will announce
New York's "worst fiscal crisis since [. . .] the mid-1970s." ("Hard
Times," same edition, page one) It would be cheaper to give O'Byrne
two cell phones or walkie talkies. Truly amazing how the more things
change the more they stay the same. Do the State Police control the
telephone system in New York? While the Attorney General investigates
state police abuse from the previous administration a new scandal is
already brewing. Is someone adding chemicals to the water in Albany
that makes politicians so weird and so clueless?
