Ungrateful Middle East Migrants Like Suitors of Penelope Upon Return of Odysseus

"So Odysseus, How Was Your Trip?"

[From article]
In The Odyssey, Odysseus’s family endures the suitors, a group of more than 100 men sponging off them under the pretext that they seek Penelope’s hand in marriage, after enduring the prolonged absence of the family patriarch. Rather than gratitude, the parasites repay the beleaguered family with contempt and conspiracies.
When Odysseus, disguised as a beggar after his return from the Trojan War, strings a bow that the beggars disguised as suitors cannot, they resolve to deny Odysseus the food that’s not theirs to withhold and the common decency that they lack to give. Eurymachus laments the beggar’s bow-and-arrow feats eclipsing the talents of the suitors, “This is what will be said, and it will be a scandal against us.”
“People who persist in eating up the estate of a great chieftain and dishonoring his house,” Odysseus’s wife Penelope responds, “must not expect others to speak well of them. Why then should you mind if men talk as you think they will?”
The same question might be posed to the West’s visitors. This week several of their number indiscriminately executed travelers for the crimes of going to work on the subway and preparing to fly at the airport. They did this in the name of Islam but should anyone acknowledge this too loudly — that the loyalty of a significant number of Muslims for our house resembles the loyalty of the suitors for Odysseus’s house — co-religionists cry bigotry.
The West provided a peaceful existence that sheltered the Belgian-born terrorists from the bloodshed of life in many Muslim nations, the freedom to practice their faith, and economic opportunities that include health care, welfare, and other financial benefits unconnected to any obligation to find gainful employment. Counterintuitively, yet commonly, they hate their benefactors.
Unlike Penelope, the West possesses the power to evict its suitors. Instead, we go out of our way to demonstrate that we are the suckers they believe us to be.
One of the airport bombers received a nine-year sentence for shooting at police officers in 2010. His younger brother, who authorities say perished in the subway bombing, received a five-year sentence for carjacking in 2011. With both men behind bars, they could not possibly have carried out the Brussels attacks, right? Right?
Last year, the Turkish government detained airport bomber Ibrahim el-Bakraoui, just five years into his supposed nine-year Belgian prison term, attempting to enter Syria to join ISIS. Turkey deported him. The Netherlands, and later Belgium, accepted him. “Despite our warnings that this person was a foreign terrorist fighter,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan explained, “the Belgian authorities could not identify a link to terrorism.”
Perhaps their detective work will find some clue establishing a connection now.
The allied ne’er-do-wells who targeted a rock concert and a soccer game in Paris last year similarly acted as takers rather than makers before their final acts of ingratitude.
[. . .]
We don’t require an Odysseus to emerge from his rags to enact vengeance upon the ingrates. (“You wasted my substance, have forced my women servants to lie with you, and have wooed my wife while I was still living. You have feared neither God nor man, and now you shall die.”) We could use a few Penelopes pointing out the ingratitude, the basic indecency that lashes out against hospitality. (“When men are courting a woman who they think will be a good wife to them and who is of noble birth, and when they are each trying to win her for himself, they usually bring oxen and sheep to feast the friends of the lady, and they make her magnificent presents, instead of eating up other people’s property without paying for it.”)
The compulsion not to offend with words the people who offend us with actions overrides the desire to speak truthfully. But until Westerners identify with volume and clarity the source of the decades-long attack on its civilization, wise actions remain thoughts scattered about.
[. . .]
But forgetting who we are we means we can’t begin to defend our civilization. A people who stand for nothing get stepped upon by those who stand for something, even a bad thing.
We wonder why they attack us. We rarely get around to pondering what, precisely, we seek to save, beyond people and property, from the onslaught.

Updated: Middle East Migrants To Europe Act Like Paying Tourists, Sue German Government

Posted October 12, 2015 10:11 PM ET; Last updated October 14, 2015 4:37 PM ET

[From article]
Around 20 Syrian migrants have filed a case against the Berlin state Government demanding immediate access to shelter and benefits after waiting for more than a week to be registered by the authorities.
It comes as serious splits emerged in Angela Merkel's Government over how to divide economic migrants from genuine refugees fleeing war-torn countries.
Hundreds of asylum seekers are still waiting to be registered due to huge backlogs at the city's main refugee centre.
Huge crowds gather outside every day and many claim they have been waiting for weeks.
Until their papers are processed by the State Office for Health and Social Affairs, the refugees have no access to Government refugee shelters or benefits.
[. . .]

More than 170,000 migrants flooded into Europe last month alone as the continent's unprecedented refugee crisis continues to spiral out of control.
This latest development is likely to raise eyebrows as Germany's controversial policy of welcoming new arrivals with open arms has already been blamed for the shocking numbers.
[. . .]
And Mrs Merkel's promise to grant automatic citizenship to refugees was blasted for encouraging more migrants to make the treacherous journey.
The country is now considering setting up "transit zones" on its borders, where migrants would be kept while their asylum claims are assessed.

Asylum seekers SUE Germany for not paying them benefits FAST ENOUGH
A GROUP of asylum seekers are SUING Germany for not allowing them to register asylum quick enough so they can access benefits, throwing the Government’s goodwill back in their faces.

There is an ironic phrase much in fashion these days, used to trivialize problems that people complain about. Just call it a “white people problem,” or its variant, “first world problem.” Things like slow internet, expensive pro sports tickets, or any of the other things that bother what Hillary Clinton calls “everyday people.”
Which makes it passing strange that these so-called “Syrian refugees” interviewed by Russia’s RT television complain about slow internet speeds, not having enough money to buy cigarettes, and food that’s fit only for a dog or a woman.

Of course, the Koran teaches that Muslims are entitled to the fruit of infidels’ labors simply because they are Muslims. So maybe these complaints are quite justifiable in their minds.

New Year's Gratitude To Al Sharpton

In between Eric "White People Are Cowards" Holder and Al "The FBI Loves Me" Sharpton is Harvard University School of Law's former Dean and now Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Elena Kagan

[From article]
Thursday
Call it “Obama’s Paradox.” A young hopped-up black man in Ferguson robs a store and then tries to kill a policeman. The policeman defends himself and the young man dies. The media go crazy. Black agitators like the most loathsome being on the planet (just IMHO), Al Sharpton, appear on TV insulting the police and the entire white population of America (just IMHO). Black criminals riot. The President seemingly takes their side against the police.
[. . .]
the Democrats start looking like the fools who touched the third rail of American politics. That third rail is not Social Security any longer: It is race baiting and an unmerited, unwarranted attack on the most racially generous people in the world: white Americans. When the President and that creature de Blasio call them racist pigs and then mutter stupid platitudes when two of the police get killed as explicit race terrorism, the third rail has been not just touched but embraced.
[. . .]
Meanwhile, Happy New Year to Al Sharpton, best friend the Republican Party has had since Reagan.
[. . .]
Thank you, Mr. de Blasio and Mr. Sharpton, for clearing up the picture and letting us know which side we are on. In your own way, Mr. Sharpton, you are doing a great service.

Republicans Owe White House For Election Wins

[From article]
believe it or not, there are reasons to be grateful to them.
They have awakened a sleeping giant from a hallucinogenic dream that started in 2008, and that giant bellowed on Election Day. As Howard Beal might declare, we were mad as hell and would not take it anymore.
The aftermath of the election has been dramatic. Barack Obama been repudiated: his policies, after all, were on the ballot and many of his enablers are looking for jobs now.
[. . .]
Democrats [. . .] exercise complete control over the legislative process in just eight states.
[. . .]
Nearly half of all Americans will now live in states under total Republican control;
[. . .]
As Noah Rothman has noted “A generation of Democrats lost in the Obama era.”  Much of the party’s talent pool, the young candidates that were being groomed to be national leaders, perhaps presidents, were crushed. They could have been contenders; they could have been somebodies. These run the gamut from attorneys general, governors, representatives, senators, to state treasurers. Gone, gone, gone, gone.
[. . .]
In the words of liberal columnist Ron Fournier, Obama has destroyed the credibility of government itself

Whining President Shows He Is Ungrateful

[From article]
“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black President,” Obama told The New Yorker’s David Remnick in the magazine’s Jan. 27 issue.
“Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black President,” he added.

Ya think? There are some people who don't like me because I am white. There are none who like me especially because I am white, unlike black people who get extra privileges because they are black. There are some people who do not like me because I am old. Some because I do not have a degree from Harvard University, and some because I have a college degree. Others because they think I am disabled. Many at Harvard University dislike me because I do not have upper class parents. I receive a lot more hatred than the President and I do not have any armed guards or PR flacks protecting me. The whining White House multi millionaire, shows his lack of gratitude, his greed, his mendacity, and his misguided self centered view. Shall we start a Facebook page to gather donations for Obama's hurt feelings? Is he pathetic? The President of the United States whining that some people do not like him. Poor guy. Imagine what he might have accomplished without racism. Ahem!
