FBI Agent Shot Wife Four Times, Found Not Guilty, NBC News, Dateline

Julie Serna Gonzales, Shot Dead by FBI-agent husband. Seen with two sons here.

I think he was guilty of murder. Why I love video you can see where he lies. The judge's decision did not make sense to me. If the prosecutor provided sufficient evidence of manslaughter, he was guilty. If there was reasonable doubt the prosecution did not prove its case. I don't understand the notion of reasonable doubt, the way she applied it. Maybe she just made it up as a compromise.

Misguided Disgust

Peyser's disgust is misguided. The standard in American jurisprudence is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecution did not provide evidence of how the baby died. They did not provide evidence that the mother caused the baby's death. No matter how irresponsible, selfish, and guilty the mother may be it was not proved in court. The trier of facts, in this case the jury considers only evidence. Peyser's lamentations should be directed at the standards of the US court system, not the mother who was found not guilty. The jury did not say she is innocent. The jury did its job properly finding the evidence did not prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
