Sen. Rand Paul Questions Spending $8 million To Fight Terror in North Dakota

[From article]
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who has been openly critical of the militarization of local police forces by the federal government that has come to light during the tensions in Ferguson, Missouri, wants to know why Homeland Security has spent $8 million in Fargo, North Dakota to fight terrorism.
"Homeland Security gave $8 million to Fargo to fight terrorism," Paul said on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday.
"I say, if the terrorists get to Fargo, we might as well give up," he told NBC's Senior White House correspondent Chris Jansing.

Dumbed Down Youth Clueless What Makes An American

[From article]
Paul has yet to focus his campaign on a subject -- which I told him in a recent telephone conversation -- that he is uniquely qualified to speak on: the dangerous ignorance throughout this nation among students and adults on why they are Americans.
[. . .]
what's more alarming for our future as a self-governing republic is that so few public schools -- from fourth grade to graduate school -- have mandated courses in American history, let alone courses in the ever-dramatic story of how our Constitution has been rescued from regal presidents and their Congresses.

Physicians Oppose Health Care Mandate

This essay laments the political positions of a group of physicians to which Rand Paul belongs. Suggesting that requiring citizens to purchase health care may not be legal under the US Constitution, the group filed a lawsuit. The essay suggests that the group is "far outside the medical mainstream." Robert Heinlein (1907-1988) "There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him." James Madison: (1751-1836) “I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” Is it possible that the current US Government is far outside the constitutional mainstream?

A Doctors' Group on the Fringe

Association of American Physicians and Surgeons
Senate candidate Rand Paul belongs to an organization with the professional-sounding name "Association of American Physicians and Surgeons," a doctors' group that has made headlines lately by organizing protests against the new health insurance reform law. AAPS urges members to appear at these rallies wearing their white coats. But AAPS isn't your average professional group; its members hold views far outside the medical mainstream. AAPS' Statement of Principles maintains that it is "evil" and "immoral" to participate in Medicare and Social Security. The group argues that President Obama uses a covert form of hypnosis called "neurolinguistic programming" to control his audiences and coerce voters. AAPS denies the link between HIV and AIDS and and opposes mandatory vaccinations. The group has also fought expanded health care coverage for children. Philip Morris considered the group a friendly third party ally who would to generate press releases favorable to tobacco issues. AAPS has filed a lawsuit to block the mandate in the new health reform law that every citizen purchase health insurance.
