Ex-CIA Director Warns Of Danger From EMP Attack

[From article]
“Continued inaction by Washington will make inevitable a natural or manmade EMP catastrophe that, as the Congressional EMP Commission warned, could kill up to 90 percent of the national population through starvation, disease, and societal collapse,” said Woolsey, now the chairman of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. “Indeed, some actions taken by the Congress, the White House and the federal bureaucracy are impeding solutions, making the nation more vulnerable, and helping the arrival of an EMP catastrophe.”
[. . .]

A 2008 report by the congressional Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse found that up to nine out of 10 Americans could die from a long-term blackout as a result of starvation and societal collapse.
Reportedly, according to the Wall Street Journal, a study by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission warned that a terrorist attack that destroys just nine key transformer substations could cause a nationwide blackout lasting 18 months.
[. . .]

“However, we are most concerned about the rare solar super-storm, like the 1921 Railroad Storm, which happened before American civilization became dependent for survival upon electricity and the electric grid,” Woolsey said. “The National Academy of Sciences estimates that if the Railroad Storm were to recur today, there would be a nationwide blackout with recovery requiring four-to-ten years, if recovery is possible at all.”
Woolsey further noted a threat resulting from non-nuclear devices, commonly referred to as radio-frequency weapons. Terrorists, criminals and disgruntled individuals, he said, “have already made localized EMP attacks using RFWs in Europe and Asia.”
[. . .]

“Nuclear EMP has a long-wavelength component like a geomagnetic super-storm, a short-wavelength component like Radio-Frequency Weapons, a mid-wavelength component like lightning and is potentially more powerful and can do deeper damage than all three,” he said.

Russia Claims New Anti Electronic Warfare Weapon

Russian rocket system 'Buk-M2' on display during the MAKS 2011 airshow in the town of Zhukovsky, outside Moscow, Russia.

[From article]
Russia has claimed to have built a revolutionary new weapon system that can render enemy satellites and weapons useless.
Its Russian makers say it is a 'fundamentally new electronic warfare system' which can be mounted on ground-based as well as air- and sea-borne carriers.
[. . .]
It is described as 'a fundamentally new electronic warfare system capable of suppressing cruise missile and other high-precision weaponry guidance systems and satellite radio-electronic equipment.'
[. . .]
To comply with international weapons laws, the system will be mounted on ground-based, air-and seaborne carriers and not on satellites. [. . .]
'It will actually switch off enemy weapons.'
The system's ground component will be tested soon, he claims.
'Ground tests are now going on in workshops. '

US Air Force Reveals EMP Weapon Now Functional

[From article]
From Ocean's Eleven to Star Trek, weapons that wipe out enemy electronics are a staple of science fiction films.
For years, scientists have been attempting to create such a weapon as part of Champ, or the Counter-electronics High-powered microwave Advanced Missile Project.
Now, the US Air Force claims it has advanced the technology, and says it can deploy it using the stealthy Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile-Extended Range (JASSM).
[. . .]
In 2012, aircraft manufacturer Boeing successfully tested the weapon on a one-hour flight during which it knocked out the computers of an entire military compound.
During Boeing's experiment, the missile flew low over the Utah Test and Training Range, discharging electromagnetic pulses on to seven targets, permanently shutting down their electronics.
Boeing said that the test was so successful even the camera recording it was disabled.
Although the project is shrouded in secrecy, experts believe the missile is equipped with an electromagnetic pulse cannon.
This uses a super-powerful microwave oven to generate a concentrated beam of energy which causes voltage surges in electronic equipment, rendering them useless before surge protectors have the chance to react.

Hacking Smart TV Easy

[From article]
'This potential attack method isn't related specifically to the use of the red button on a TV remote specifically, but to any interaction with a smart TV,' says David Emm, senior security researcher at Kaspersky Lab in Russia.
'Such an attack would effectively be a "man in the middle" attack, with hackers placing themselves between the consumer and the broadcaster and injecting their own, bogus information into the broadcast stream - for example, fake adverts and other content.
'After hacking the radio signal, hackers "become the broadcaster" and even have the ability to hack into anything sent or received by the consumer.
'One problem with such an attack is that, since it would involve hacking into the radio signal through the use of an antenna, it would be difficult to track down the attackers.
'It’s reminiscent of someone sniffing the traffic on a public Wi-Fi hotspot or setting up a fake one.
'Providers need to ensure they are considering such security implications of new technology.
'When new technologies emerge, the focus tends to be on the positive benefits - how the technology will make people's lives easier - not enough focus is placed on the risks inherent in the use of the latest technology.
'Smart fridges, garage doors, car entertainment systems and electricity meters are all examples of new technology that all benefit from Internet connectivity, but the extension of technology in this way also brings the possibility of more cyber-attacks.'

Could your smart TV be HACKED? 'Red button' feature could be used to hijack web accounts
Researchers at Columbia University claim smart TVs can be hacked
So-called hybrid TVs can be hijacked using a $250 (£150) 1-watt transmitter
The scientists are set to discuss the exploit in a paper later this year
They claim attackers could get access to viewers' internet accounts
They could then post on Facebook, write fake reviews, and much more

FBI Admits Cyber Crime Is a Challenge

After 20 years of rapidly expanding use of high tech electronic communications the FBI seems to be becoming aware of the potential for criminal abuses. Don't even think about local and state police agencies, which remain mostly clueless about how to respond to criminals using electronics. On Wednesday May 21, 2014 the new FBI director James Comey, testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. He reported that he is visiting local and state police and all field offices of the FBI. He praised the Secret Service for helping to train FBI agents. So you think that the war on crime has also been lost like the war on drugs and poverty too? Mr. Comey is mentioned in the Frontline PBS two part United States of Secrets about the NSA collecting information on U.S. citizens.

Rogue Electronics Can Overpower U.S. Navy

[From article]
Exploiting and remotely shutting down a Navy ship's software "gives you a nonlethal warfare capacity at sea," Peter Singer, a Brookings Institution national security analyst, said in an interview after speaking at the Defense One Summit. Commanders could give an order like, “Don't let this enemy fleet seize these island chains, but also don't let it turn into a shooting war.”

EMP Major Threat to Nation, Most People Clueless

Experimental EMP devices are already being tested, which can disable cars. Police can stop cars instead of high speed chases using EMP directed at integrated computer circuits. Same devices can be used by police or criminals to target individuals. Corporations and government agencies can protect their computers by high tech shielding, which is expensive. Individuals are not even offered such services.

Air Force Develops Mind Incapacitating Weapons

[Comments by Cheryl Welsh, Director Mind Justice
http://mindjustice.org ]

This article described what [mind control] victims describe, the general cluster of symptoms.

Of course this research was discovered back in the 1940s, 50s, even earliers roots, if you read psychology etc, Pavlov, fight or flight, sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system was studied extensively, acetylcholine, etc. the biological foundation for learned helplessness, etc. Reporters should ask tougher questions instead of joking it off.

The 2002 Converging Technologies Report is now proposing similar research
thirty years later. This report describes what is classified and the science of mind control weapons, I think. Researchers today don't conduct the "EMR approach" to research. The military has classified and monopolized EMR research since WWII. Reporters should ask scientific/historical questions. Page 355-6 of the report;

Non-drug Treatments for Enhancement of Human Performance, Robert Asher,
Sandia Laboratories

Drug companies spend an average of $800 million to develop new drugs that
may have negative side effects. An alternative is to develop non-drug
approaches to human performance enhancement. ...Consider the use of
externally applied, non-dangerous electromagnetic fields ...that enhance
human performance.

...What other changes can be engineered by a specifically shaped
electromagnetic pulse that might enhance human performance without
pharmaceuticals? ...This investigation may spawn a new industry in which the
human is enhanced by externally applied electromagnetic pulses so shaped as
to enhance specific biochemical changes within the body without drugs...

Fund work towards the goal of understanding in detail the effects of
electromagnetics on cellular systems and on cognition.

Consider cellular electrochemical and structural changes and actions
imposed by electromagnetics.

Fund work towards electromagnetic and biochemical dynamical modeling of
cellular systems in order to both understand electromagnetic and biochemical
aspects, as well as to optimize the shape of electromagnetic pulses to
impose desired cell changes without inducing side effects.

Defense Department Plane Has Hi-tech Defense Shielding

"Gates was flying on what is often called 'the Doomsday Plane,' a specially outfitted 747 that looks like a bulkier Air Force One and was built to wage retaliatory nuclear war from the skies. Its hull contains metal wiring to shield its avionics from the electromagnetic pulse emitted by nuclear explosions, and a super-reflective coat of paint renders it what the military calls 'thermal radiation protected.'”

US Homeland Security Ignores EMP Dangers

Here is one more example where technology has outrun not only the minds of ordinary citizens but also the laws, the government and the departments whose mission is to protect the nation. With a self destructive, inept administration that is undermining the principles of the Constitution and their ignorance of the dangers, it is not hopeful that this nation will survive much longer.
