Revere, MA Police Killed Man After Violent Struggle, Vandalism

[From article]
Authorities say a 38-year-old Revere man who died after a violent struggle with police recently had been hospitalized for a mental health evaluation and had broken into an apartment building with a child in tow.
The man, who officials did not identify yesterday, was found “in a state of extreme agitation” when police came upon him Sunday at an apartment building on Winthrop Avenue, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
Investigators say the man was hospitalized for a mental health evaluation last week after a separate incident, and appeared to have smashed through a window of an apartment and forced his way inside with a “young relative.” Officials did not specify the relationship between the man and the child.

Revere police, who referred inquiries yesterday to the district attorney, found the man in a stairwell “bleeding and combative,” and that he eventually released the child.
Authorities said the man punched, kicked and bit officers, and at one point broke and attempted to jump through a window.
Officers tased him “to no apparent effect,”
