Microsoft Patents "Dangerous Neighborhoods" App for GPS
This is a good idea. When I began using Google maps I realized that online images do not reveal what streets are safe to walk through. I often see young women and men in Cambridge with their hand held GPS phones etc., searching the street signs. Some refuse to allow me to direct them. They believe what the "computer" says. One group from India standing at the Harvard Law School in Cambridge asked me where the Harvard Business School was. I explained it was across the river in Boston. They could not believe that the computer directed them erroneously. I reported one error to Google last year for their placement of the Harvard Divinity School at the Law School of the Harvard campus. I try to tell people that they cannot rely on computers, not even for highways. The computers do not always indicate construction or damaged roadways, no less dangerous neighborhoods.
