Politician Criticizes Film's Potential For Misleading Public
Politicians say the darndest things. Here is one more for the record books. A politician says that a film may influence public opinion in an unfortunate way. Huh? What does the repeated falsehoods, misleading, irrelevant statements, hearings, testimony and town hall meetings do to discourage citizens from participating in the misleading public discourse of the elected officials? This is shameless hypocrisy of the highest degree. Especially regarding the making of films which is a First Amendment protected activity. Here again is a liberal US Senator openly criticizing, attempting to censor a film for its content.
[From article]
Because the movie seems to suggest that “torture works,” says Senator Dianne Feinstein, it “has the potential to shape American public opinion in a disturbing and misleading manner.”
