Do Microbes Need Light?
Cackler says, "microbes can be grown anywhere with a light source and a supply of nutrients." But Harvard's Astronomy Professor Dimitar Sasselov says, in his new book, "The Life of Super-Earths," page 109, "Microbes that live deep within the Earth's crust [. . .] depend on nothing from the surface. The heat comes from the depths of the planet, the chemicals and water are already there, and sunlight is not needed."
