If taxpayer funds were not wasted on studies of homelessness by
academic consultants, and provided aid for housing individuals
directly it might reduce substantially the number of persons without
homes. But giving people something more than food and spare change for
nothing is not allowed. If taxes were raised on rich Republicans and
the US borrowed more money from China, Japan and Saudi Arabia,
Democratic politicians and consultants could earn even more money
studying the problem.
