Violence is Down. Or is It Up?
“The U.S. is really two countries,” Pinker said. “Blue states are smack in the middle of this progression [toward a lower death rate] while red states are very far behind.” How does that comport with the lower violent crime rate in Arizona which allows citizens to carry weapons? How does Pinker's findings compare with John R. Lott's in his book, More Guns Less Crime? Is Chicago in a Red State? Are there enough Chicago shooting deaths each weekend to skew his figures and his thesis?
