Lots of Ways to Offend Vulnerable Persons

If respect for all is the goal, when will politicians, prosecutors, journalists, judges and ordinary citizens stop using the phrase "a history of mental illness" to describe persons accused of crime? Police now say "There is no history of mental illness" as if that would explain the crime. There are many ways to offend vulnerable people. Why do taxpayer funded human services agencies refuse to stop criminal abuse of elders? Blacks, women and homosexuals have wealthy and powerful advocates at all levels of society. Why are persons with disabilities and elders kept under control of the human services industry and the politicians who write laws for them?
