Court Orders Pregnant Woman to Remain in Hospital
In this situation a pregnant Florida woman was forced to stay in hospital by a court. This violated the law making it an absolute right to refuse treatment. However this article did not mention psychiatry which is often forced on unwilling citizens. Why are psychiatrists allowed to do what other doctors are prohibited from doing? In a related matter the Health Care Bill under US Senate consideration has a medical board which approves or denies treatment. How is this case similar? Are courts or government officials more knowledgeable about medical treatment?
